    SimNation...when Sim goes too far.

#1. This is the best bball game ever.
#2. I love a great simulation of the game of basketball.
#3. The best value for the dollar since NFL 2k5.
#4. Default is the new sim.

The way most of us talk about "SIM" is that we don't want a sense of imagination in the game. If I want Chris Bosh to lead the Heat in scoring this year...but D-Wade does in real life that is not "Sim" by OS standards.

The game we all wanted is Default pro and maybe Default all-star. I know the Da_Czar and everybody else here talks "Sim" all the time but I think we've taken it too far.

All I'm saying is that if I can't make a pass from the top of the key to the wing with out a play...that is SimOverkill. If I can't turn the corner with out "plays of the week" type crossover...that is SimOverkill. If I struggle to score 60 in a 8 minute game...that is SimOverkill.

I don't know anybody who plays 15 minute quarters in Madden, yet when it comes to 2K BBall everyone wants to play full quarters just to have "regular" stats.

I don't think you could have 2 games like this on the market, which is why I think the dead game tried what it did.

    I guess I'm a "SIM"-I cheeser.

    Can you not
    1) Dribble to create a passing lane to the wing
    2) Use Icon Lead passing to lead the player on the wing away from his defender
    3) Use "Total Control" passing to take control of the wing player and manually get him open to receive the pass.

These may or may not work.

        mbmonk,

yea...you're right. but i guess that was kinda my point. when it is all said and done, its a video basketball game. Should I really need to use your 3 tips just to pass to the wing?

I think I get something else out of these games than other cats do. Which is fine...

I agree. Just get NBA 2k10 out of the system. You don't have to call plays to win on any sim level.

I just think people want to basically beat the computer senseless in the easiest possible fashion. Sim on NBA 2k11 means that you will beat the team the way they do in real life - deliberately.

Plus, remember what Czar said, just play on a lower level. I did. Once that got too easy, I just went to a higher level of play.

          NBA 2k11 is the GOAT!!!
When the game is on the line, winners want the ball.

I don't keep up with the NBA so maybe things have changed, but scoring 60 in a game I assume is rare. So why shouldn't it be a struggle to do so in the game?

Of course it's pretty easy in the Jordan challenges

People don't play 15 min quarters in Madden b/c people generally do not want to spend 20-30 seconds calling a play.

I think that is a fair point.

Regardless of what happens with Elite, NBA Jams is coming out. I am looking forward to that as well. Thank god the the NBA didn't follow in the NFL's foot steps in terms of signing exclusive deals

Exactly. Football is a game where the actual gameplay does not take up the majority of the gameclock. Basketball, on the other hand you NEED those 12 min qtrs to get enough FG attempts to have realistic stats if you play at a realistic pace. In football games you can have your 65-75 plays needed for realistic stats with 7 or 8 min qtrs just by skipping all the huddle time.

being a SIM fan doesn't mean everything has to match with RL. I label SIM as to what happens on the court/field. If a player wants Chris Bosh to lead the Heat in scoring that's his own right to do so. What I do not consider SIM is taking 10 Three Pointers a game with Yao Ming and draining at least 7 of them.

You're comparing apples and oranges. You can't play full quarters in madden because of quick scoring. You can score up to 10 TD's in a full quarter madden game. That's 60 points right there. SIM has ruined the sports video game experience. I remember back when I played Tecmo Bowl. It was the most fun I've had in sports games. It's all about destroying your opponent. Now, it's about realism and what they do on the court/field. They are complicating sports games especially with the ISO crap. I've been an NBA2K fan back in the days but always felt Live was more fun to control and do moves. I play better basketball in real life than I do in 2K.

I agree with the OP that in some cases, "Sim" has gone too far. I mean ive seen leagues where you are not allowed to drive the ball and can only score using mid range jumpers :-x

its very pathetic and just as bad as cheesing. these are two extreme schools of thought that are involved here and neither is right. people have the right to play how they feel like playing, the extremists just arent true to the game.

I personally think people should just play the game without using any exploits. not everyone knows the NBA or organized basketball. so some people you just gotta let them play, nothing wrong with that as long as they are not abusing things to win. those of us that actually have knowledge of basketball should come out victorious in the end
