Re: 1993 Phoenix Suns. Sir Charles!
For the 100000000000000000000000th time (or even more) - Barkley didn't want to be in the game. Please people, please! Stop with this "Why no '93 Suns, why?!?!?!" You're starting to sound like me with the "Why no socks with calf sleeves? Why??!!".My Specs:

Barkley can't possibly pay off his gambling debts with the meager offers 2k sports was giving him. He says, "video games are beneath me, and if they can't cover the spread for me in the playoffs, I want nothing to do with em."You shouldn't worry about what others think of you, because if you knew how little they did, you would be insulted.

That was one of the challenges I was looking forward. And I really wanted to play with Charles Barkley very badly. Was pretty disappointed he was not in the game.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: 1993 Phoenix Suns. Sir Charles!
How do we know this is the case? Was there an article somewhere about it or something? I've heard it mentioned many times, but never with an actual source. Hell, if Bird, Isiaiah and everybody else agreed, I find it hard to believe Barkley flat out said no.

Re: 1993 Phoenix Suns. Sir Charles!
MJ and barkley have had there on deals to be in games since the mids 90's. Bird , magic and etc are part of the retired players uni. That means when some buy that lic those players get what ever they signed up for. I learned this 5-6 yrs ago with the whole retro uni craz started. And some player were not happy not getting much when there unis were selling alot more then others.
Also the team and events were picked by MJ. Maybe he didnt think the suns series was up there for him.Last edited by hokupguy; 10-12-2010, 02:12 PM."Never say never, because limits are like fears and they are often just an illusion."-M.J.Comment

Is there written confirmation that Barkley said no or is this just more speculation???
I have yet to see anything proving most of your statements as fact.“What’s better than one billionaire? 2.....”Comment

Re: 1993 Phoenix Suns. Sir Charles!
It's not hard to fathom since Bird, Magic, and Zeke have all been in previous 2k's for years and Barkley hasn't been in one since he was a rocket...Either his asking price is too much or he has restrictions that don't allow him to be in it. I'm guessing the former. People need to understand it is not easy (or cheap) to get all these legends in a game. How do we know this is the case? Was there an article somewhere about it or something? How do we know Barkley said no?EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment

Re: 1993 Phoenix Suns. Sir Charles!
I've never seen a confirmation, so I base my "knowledge" on logic. If Barkley hasn't been included in video games for years, and 2K didn't get him (I'm pretty sure the 1993 Suns were a desired team by the developers), then it must be Barkley who refused.
Unless 2K Sports president or someone up there has an issue with Barkley...
Either way, threads like this are not going to help here.My Specs:

I respect your opinion, and your Logic holds water here, it sounds as good as any reason that I've seen.
But that's different than some folks around here jumping down people's throats stating it like it's fact.

Re: 1993 Phoenix Suns. Sir Charles!
It has been in writing by several sources that Barkley turned down the offer.
2k developers have commented a few times via twitter and in forums that they could not, unfortunately, get Barkley's license.
I have read it in so many different places that I had to do a Google search to remember where specifically, here is one:
http://espn.go.com/espn/thelife/videogames/blog/_/name/thegamer/id/5513054/play-<wbr>mike?readmore=fullstory
Circumstantial? Not when you put all the sources together and combine that with logic. Barkley just didn't want to be in the game.
(Nobody in this thread has mentioned competitive reasons: would a hyper competitive star with a big ego want to be in a game that had a whole mode dedicated to reliving his greatest defeat?)Comment

Re: 1993 Phoenix Suns. Sir Charles!
The guy in the espn article just made a general comment/statement. No supporting documentation. Financially I doubt barkley would care one way or another whether he was included...so what would be the other reason? Especially since so many of his counterparts are included (ewing, drexler, wilkins, etc...).
Has to be some sort of contractual dispute...Comment

, but yes.
