Re: EA Sports MMA Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)
see to me this almost seems like an improvement over the whole judging system, i think in a 10 point must system, it states winner gets 10, opponent 9 or less. they need to use the entire 10 points. think about some fights where a guy wins a round but it was kinda close, but all 3 judges see it as 10-9. then the next round the other guy makes an adjustment, and convincingly wins the round, but wasnt given a 10-8 because it wasnt total dominance. Ideally total dominance should be scored 10-1 or 10-2. a convincing round would be in that 10-5 to 10-7 range, and 10-8 or 10-9 would be for close rounds. So honestly I'm kinda happy to see some 10-7s because to me thats a step in the right direction for mma. to be fair i havent seen straight 10-7s like i saw in the demo. also you could fight japanese or vale tudo and have no scores, just the entire fight scored as a winner or loser.
That's too gamey though because that's not how it works in real life. Also, if you do get a 10-7 round, with only 3 rounds the fight is pretty much over. Besides that getting a bunch of TDs doesn't sound like a dominating round anyway, unless they were close to being finished.Comment

Its such a good MMA game but I have no idea how they missed this. But EA always has an issue with judging. Most of the Fight Night/Knockout Kings games had wonky judging imo.Comment

Re: EA Sports MMA Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)
The only logical explanation for this is Big John and a few others are on some crusade to change MMA judging...which just makes me want to vomit because this isn't even remotely the context to make some statement.
It is broken and needs to get patched.
I won't buy the game til it does because this forces every fight to be pointless unless it ends in a knockout.Comment

Re: EA Sports MMA Available, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)
I tried to find a 10-7 round.
There's this quote from a yahoo article (http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/news?slu...htmetric042308)...
FightMetric calls a round 10-8 when a fighter scores over 100 and has a score more than six times his opponent’s score. What do you do with a score 52 times the opponent’s? Theoretically, the system’s concentration on diminishing returns at the upper end would mean a requisite score 36 times your opponent’s to get a 10-7 round. But because 10-7 rounds are all but unheard-of and there has never been an official 10-6 round in a major fight that has gone to a decision, there are no rules in place beyond that.
Then there's this one from a Q&A with someone from the NJ Athletic Comisson (http://thegarv.com/Rapidfire-QA-with...-in-MMA.html):
The difference between a 10-8 round (a round is to be scored as a 10-8 Round when a contestant overwhelmingly dominates by striking or grappling in a round) and a 10-7 round (a round is to be scored as a 10-7 Round when a contestant totally dominates by striking or grappling in a round) seems difficult to distinguish. Can you explain how to differentiate a 10-8 and 10-7 round?
“If there is a 10-7 round, it likely means that the referee or ringside physician should have stopped the fight, but did not.”Comment

...that makes it sound like there HAS been a 10-7 round at some point. 10-8 with a point loss maybe?
Then there's this one from a Q&A with someone from the NJ Athletic Comisson (http://thegarv.com/Rapidfire-QA-with...-in-MMA.html):
Which was exactly what happend with my demo experiment. Are there stoppages in the game at all? Certianly weren't in the demo.
The fact that there are 10-7 rounds isnt the only problem. For example, just had a fight with Eddie Alverez and Aoki. The 3 judges scored the round 10-10, 10-7 Alverez and 10-9 Aoki. Now no one dominated that round. Alverez took Aoki down twice Aoki went for several subs and Alverez controlled the standup.
How does that judging make sense?Comment

Can anyone let me know if you can have CPU vs. CPU fights? I love creating fighters and putting them in the ring/octagon against each other. This was not possible on the demo, at least if it was i didn't figure it out.Comment

This was my 5th win. Second win after signing with a Brazilian league. This is also my photo game face of me and my career fighter.
He is built pure BJJ. Has horrible chin and gets stunned easy. But on the ground he can be dangerous in any position.

Right here in this video I was getting destroyed by this guy in the stand up. His punch range was better than mine and closing speed just out classed me. He lands a quick combo that sends me stumbling. I quickly shoot for the take down while he was pressing forward. I land and quickly pass to take the mount. He rolls and lets me take his back and I just quickly slapped on the choke.
My right eye was cut and bloody real bad from the heavy exchanges I was falling short on. Got real lucky I landed the take down and just out classed the guy on the bottom. I have yet to face a high level BJJ guy like myself yet though.
