Re: ******EA MMA OFFICIAL Impressions (360 & PS3)******
Plus they parry wayyyy more strikes from the bottom. So it is much much tougher to beat the CPU on the ground compared to the demo.Comment

Re: ******EA MMA OFFICIAL Impressions (360 & PS3)******
I'm surprised to see how few impressions there are in this thread. I know it just came out today, but a lot of these games get out early. I've played a couple matches, I love the Vale Tudo rules with 20:00 fights and knees, elbows, and head kicks allowed.
Had a fight go down to 1:38 left before I TKO'd the guy.
Looking forward to some Fighter Share CAFs. Hopefully we can get some good ones with gameface. I actually didn't think it was that bad in FNR4.
I really like this fight engine better than UFCs. It'd be great to get some good UFC CAFs in this game.Favorite Sports Teams

Re: ******EA MMA OFFICIAL Impressions (360 & PS3)******
Yeah it a whole different Overeem thats for damn sure. I tried button mashing with Lashley against him and he just bobed and weaved, firing off kicks to my legs and gut. Then he bull rushed me into the cage, put me into the MT clinch and started knee'ing me to the body.
I survived the 1st round, started the 2nd, tried to bang him, he swayed all my punches, then landed a 3 punch combo with a kick to the body for the finish. Tried to hit him with an uppercut, he swayed, landed another 3 punch combo that rocked me.
This time though instead of following to my back, which happened every trip in the demo, this time I just fell forward to my knees. While I was trying to shake the webs out of my head, he ran up on me and hit me with an uppercut that put me the F out.
I was like wow.Comment

Re: ******EA MMA OFFICIAL Impressions (360 & PS3)******
Yeah I was gonna ask about the different rulesets -- do they just "turn on" elbow strikes and head stomps for those matches? What are the controls for that compared to normal strikes? Can you (for example) elbow some one illegally in Japanese fights and lose points, or are those strikes disabled based on the ruleset?Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Awesome. I just went out and rented it. Hoping I like it enough to buy it.I still have the difficulty a little low. I might try turning it up. But it seems the CPU is a little better at trying to avoid strikes. My first two fights I was able to KO them though. I made a big guy that is a brawler and I was fighting some pretty ****ty people though. So it is hard to judge by that. Overall it seems a lot more polished than the demo though.Comment

I'm just noticing the peripherals right now. I'm pretty satisfied with the actual gameplay. Commentary is pretty bad. The crowd is bad too, along with striking sounds. Overall, the presentation is just unfinished. Maybe they just didn't have the time/resources to get on that. Thankfully the gameplay is pretty solid.
One thing I noticed is how long the load times are. Pretty rough there. It reminds me of Smackdown vs Raw a few years back.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

Do you guys have the game installed on your hard drive ? My load times is no longer then when I play NBA 2K11. But anyway just had my 1st lost in career mode, got caught in a takedown attempt and submitted.
I do like how the commentary talks about the history of fighters in career mode and in exhbition mode.Comment

Re: EA Sports MMA Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
Played 2 online matches - lost
Played a quick fight and won
Started my Career, and went through the three tutorials with Bas.
A couple of things first, I purchased UFC 2009 and loved it, played the hec out of it, but have to say I was never comfortable with the ground game or initiating/defending submissions. I could just never get accustomed to the "Shine" or the full/half mount motions on the analogs. I purchased UFC 2010 and figured they would clean it up, and was still confused, so I traded it in after a month or so.
Now, EA MMA, is just plain easier for me to get a feel for what I am trying to do. I can see when someone is trying to advance position and defend it, I know what I am doing in the clench, it's just easier for me
I haven't paid much attention to the commentary, so I'll make sure to take note later. Or it could be simply that it's forgettable.
I like the different rules and ring layouts, it really adds alot of variety. Kicks to the head on the ground! Need I say more.
I'm also hoping that it won't be as difficult to attain moves as UFC 2010 was. There was just too much in the CAF there for me to make a planned path for what I wanted to do in there.
One thing that I do realize I miss that I wouldn't think I would is the UFC license. Thinking back I would primarily play Rampage, Rashad, Machida, Silva over and over again. I will also miss the classic fights and Joe Rogan announcing.
Beyond that I much prefer the gameplay of EA MMA to UFC, that's what matters. It's just no fun for me not being able to execute a fight plan, because I'm not sure I'm performing the button/analog sequences correctly.Comment

Re: EA Sports MMA Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
one of the coolest features ever is the ability to watch peoples fights, if you go to leaderboard and select friends, you can watch your friends ranked fights. quik watched an **** 5 round war (which i lost) for one of the lhw titles and said that fight was as good as some fights he's seen on tv. this game continues to amazeComment

Head Stomping in my career in Brazil. I enjoyed this because he beat me during my second fight in Brazil. I won the rematch in convincing fashion.
