    Miami Dolphins Franchise

    - I am currently in the process of running a Dolphins Franchise (I have decided to restrict myself, with occasional input, to exclusively handling the coaching and letting the GM (Gil Darnell A.K.A. Bill Parcells) handle the drafting/rookie contracts/free-agent signing/trading).

    - Started in the Pre-Season with the pre-assigned playbook for both offense and defense.

    - I encouraged Gil Darnell to go after several key free agents that would help strengthen the Offensive Line, Defensive Line, Defensive Backs, and Special Teams. Here is a list of the following Free Agents, their positions and overall ratings:

    - Zach Piller (G) (82), Fred Miller (T) (80), Grady Jackson (DT) (80), Ty Law (CB) (82), Scott Player (P) (88).

    - Gil Darnell was unable to negotiate a rookie contract with C. Henne (QB). Consequently he missed training camp and our 1st Pre-Season game.

-Despite not signing C. Henne, throughout Training Camp I am focusing on increasing the Play Knowledge of my Offensive Line by focusing on running various plays for my Offense.

-Attempted to meet a Pre-Season Goal by trading for D. Clark (TE). However, after delegating this task to Gil Darnell, the trade was put on ice due to a steep asking price from the Bears.

    - After the first series of cuts, decided to bolster the Line backing Core by adding Trev Faulk (LB) (78).

    - In our first pre-season game we were overmatched as we faced a strong Buccaneers Team (Final Score: 41 – 0). However, what bothered me is that despite the myriad of time spent on Offensive preparation, we were unable to score a single point (Major Disappointment: J. Beck (QB), my starting QB, had an abysmal QB Rating of 11). Needless to say, after the first Pre-Season Game, changes were in order:

    - The greatest change occurred when a couple days afterwards, after coming to terms with C. Henne (QB), I immediately promoted him to starting QB.

    - Secondly, in dire need of a TE it was soon brought to my attention that the Tennessee Titans were interested in trading for Z. Piller (G). After delegating this task to Gil Darnell, the Owner and I were ecstatic to see that he had traded Z. Piller (G) to the Titans for B. Scaife (TE) (70) (Potential: 75) and a 5th Round Draft Pick.

    - Next, decided to upgrade a relatively young and inexperienced Wide Receiving core by signing Veteran Wide-Out D. Northcutt (WR) (81).

    - Lastly, I am in the process of creating explosive offensive plays geared towards the Wildcat Formation. Hopefully, this will help in putting points on the board.

Thats a nice thing you got going man. What is Ginn Jr's potential on this game, because if he is anything like he is in real life I would get rid of him right now.

Thanks, I definitely appreciate the advice. In terms of T. Ginn's Overall Rating, I believe that it is currently somewhere between the lower to mid 70's with a Potential Rating somewhere in the mid to upper 80's. However, that potential rating is kind of deceiving in that my Coaching Philosophy is currently geared towards Speed Receivers. Therefore, since T. Ginn is quite fast, he has a higher rating based mainly on his speed. With all that said, I am strongly considering going after Wide Receivers that are more well-rounded and will seriously consider either trading or releasing T. Ginn if need be.

Ginn is a big cap hit to release early, he is good as a #3 WR and return guy.
Had Bo he is a good TE but was injured alot for me.

Beck is actually a decent QB, until your players learn the playbook the team is really bad.

I just started over with the Phins and am going to try Henne out, Beck outplays him but I plan on starting Henne maybe not right away though, and see how good I can get him to play.

Bo Scaife is a nice TE but he is very injury prone in this game. He was very injury prone for me at least, to the point where I benched him and only played him on 3rd down. Ted Ginn develops well to be honest but he never turns into much of a possession receiver. So if you're gonna keep the Speed WR philosphy and you plan on stretching the field, keep Ginn. But I like to have receivers that excel at catching in traffic so I'd keep him on just as a return specialist.

Either way, I'd keep him. I should also mention that if you do decide to get rid of him, wait until his contract is up because the penalty isn't worth it if you just release him.

            - After last week’s Pre-Season game, and with a new Rookie starting Quarterback in C. Henne, improving my team’s Offensive Play Knowledge was a necessity. Thus, in preparation for the upcoming Pre-Season game against the Jaguars, needless to say we worked on Offensive Plays (specifically Screen Passes and Quick Passes in order to ease C. Henne into the starting role).

            - Today’s game versus the Jacksonville Jaguars is currently scheduled on a rainy day in Jacksonville. These rainy conditions should work out in my favor in that I am starting a Rookie Quarterback and I will be forced to focus on my running game to carry the load. However, Jacksonville seems to have a similar Run-Oriented make-up on Offense. I am expecting a low-scoring game with both Ronnie Brown (RB) and Maurice Jones-Drew (RB) putting up decent numbers. Will the Chad Henne experiment work out for this Miami Dolphins team? Stay tuned to find out…

To really learn the playbook you need to play late into the fourth Qtr then back out of the game and save career. Each game use certain plays over and over both offense and defense, repeate those plays 2nd half when the backups are in. You need to lay each game 2 times to learn enough of the playbook.

One of my biggest issues with HC is how nobody can catch or tackle when the play is unlearned. I don't mind the QB holding the ball to long or missed assignments etc. But why should guys forget how to play the basics there position because the play is unlearned.

Thanks, really appreciate it. Took a look at your Redskins Franchise. Liked the style of writing you employed in presenting the information. Felt like I was reading an article in the Sports Section of a Newspaper or ESPN the Magazine. Great job and will definitely continue to follow your career.

I am in my 2nd year with the fins and Guinn is currently a 66/78. I have Tall/Red Zone as my receiver philosophy. He is a great return man (just took one 96 yards for a TD yesterday) but stinks as a receiver. I have used the Speed philosophy in the past, but realized the ratings were based on how fast they were, which I could get from looking at the SPD on the info screens. So I changed to get a better idea of how they are as receivers.

Yeah Ginn isn't the greatest WR but if he is your 3rd WR he winds up in the slot, he gets alot of catches then and breaks some long ones for you.
If he stays healthy he can get you alot of return TD's. I have had him go on IR several times

                            Re: Miami Dolphins Franchise

                            - Good News: Not only did our offense put points on the board during last week’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but our defense also gave up fewer points than that of last game. Bad News: We lost the game in blowout fashion (Final Score: 30 – 6). In his debut C. Henne (QB) put up a Quarterback Rating of 20. Nonetheless, despite the below average rating, he ultimately performed better than J. Beck (QB) did last week.

-In coaching one must constantly look at the positive. Therefore, although we lost our last game, albeit slight, there was an improvement on both sides of the ball. With this in mind, in preparation for the next game, and the subsequent upcoming season, the theme for this week is improvement:

-Decided to further upgrade my Wide Receiving core by signing former Giant speedster S. Moss (WR) (80).

-Due to several injuries following last week’s game, specifically to my Defensive Tackles, decided to sign B. Oshinwa (DT) (80), to fill-in a relatively depleted Defensive Line.

-As Cut Day quickly approaches, opted to part ways with recently signed Linebacker Trev Faulk in hopes of acquiring B. Siller (MLB) (80) who is currently a better fit for my system. In addition, after much deliberation, decided to place J. Beck (QB) on the trading block. The writing is on the wall: C. Henne (QB) will be my starting Quarterback from here on.

                            - It has also come to my attention that the Seahawks have decided to part ways with B. Russell (SS) (83). B. Russell’s style of play not only goes well with my current Defensive Philosophy, but his overall rating is far greater than that of my starting Strong Safety ( _(71)). Thus, if all goes according to plan, B. Russell (SS) will soon be suiting up for the Miami Dolphins.

-Cut Day has arrived. After parting ways with several players, GM Gill Darnell bolstered the Defensive Unit by coming to terms with both B. Siller (MLB) and B. Russell (SS).
