Re: EA Sports MMA Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
EA MMA needs more throws and slams. This is one aspect of the sport of MMA they seem to have missed. So far I have only seen 4 takedown types.
1. Judo hip toss
2. Leg trip
3. Belly to belly
4. Double leg on a shoot
Needs way more variety and discipline specific takedowns. Especially when you have somebody up against the cage. Need some single leg takedowns, belly to back, drag takedown, side scoop, etc.Comment

Re: EA Sports MMA Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
I wouldn't say everybody punch and kick the same way. Visually it looks that way, but in reality when playing the game it is different for the following reasons:
1. Body movement rating
2. Foot speed rating
3. Hand speed rating
4. Hand reach rating
5. Punch combo speed
6. Kick reach rating
7. Kick combo speed
So really playing to the strengths of your fighter makes all the difference in the world when it comes to striking. Somebody with fast body movement, fast punch combo speed and a long reach will destroy somebody like Fedor, Dan Henderson, or anybody with heavy hands but slow speed.
Just like somebody with a high heart rating can survive way longer then anybody else. You can rock them, put them in dozens of submissions but their high heart rating will always keep them in the fight until the last round.
Just like I made a leg lock specialist. He can't stand and bang. But if he gets a hold to one of your legs the fight is over.
But my submissions are beast. Legs locks are my special, with a max 100 rating for leg locks. 88 arm locks, 94 neck locks. Once I get a hold on someones leg I can mash on the attack button a lot and it only knocks off a slight tick each time.
Don't let me catch that leg or it is SNAPPPPPP!!Comment

You must press it as fast as possible when you are rocked and they are beating u up for the TKO. You must regain the full bar for them to wrap up and "survive". So it is a speed game of how fast you can build the bar back up vs them landing each punch to drain it.
At first I was doing it the speed of the submissions and quickly learned that is not the correct route.
I still suck at chokeholds too though. No matter what I do it seems I get submitted.PSN: King10Sooted

Dave, from watching your video, I really think your stand up would improve if you learned to bob and weave (hold the block button, remain stationary, and flick the left stick up, down, left, or right). It's a terrific skill that can really help you avoid some strikes while your opponent spam punches.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

Re: EA Sports MMA Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
have you finished the career?
Overall how was it?
That being said when you fighting in Japan and Brazil, get the heck up off the ground as fast as possible when you see your opponent get off the ground. If not you will either get soccer kicked to the face or face stomped.
Also the round differences really effects your strategy too. In Brazil and Japan you really got to pace yourself. Over all the higher you rank up, the tougher the cpu is and every know and then you will fight somebody that is really good at a skill that you are really bad in. And they will exploit it too.Comment

Re: EA Sports MMA Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
Oh I must say I am amazed how effective jabs, leg kicks, fake shots and fake shooting is in this game. I played as Randy vs Tim Silvia last night and it was a blast.
I was able to take big Tim down at will in the 1st round. Came second round I would fake it, Tim would try to block it, which allowed me to clock him with an overhand right.
Just like when I play as Nick Diaz I love jabbing my opponents. Also when I played against the cpu, forgot who it was but he was eating my leg up with leg kicks and the guy I was using had a low block rating and low leg health. Needless to say my movement came to a snail pace.Comment

In the career tutorial they teach you to go from 3 o'clock to 9 o'clock and vice versa. I hardly ever go above that when in a choke.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

Re: EA Sports MMA Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
Nope. They're talking about a champion vs. champion match so I'm pretty far in I guess. I went with Japan instead of Strikeforce.
Pretty good overall. Sapres a lot of hassle being able to sim and get the same grade in training. It feels like they wanted to add a lot more to it though. Like they say when you train with someone they'll be in your corner for the next fight,I'm not sure what,if any effect it has, doesn't seem to be any. Then there's the e-mail girl that's constantly flirting, not sure if that ever goes anywhere or not. Though last time she said "with all those wins you should have enough money to get a decent haircut now." You've got your very own internet fan that writes articles on you but I don't think you ever actually meet him or do an interview or anything like that. Based on the achievements a rivalry fight should've happend at some point but maybe you have to lose to have it considered a rivalry? I did fight the same the guy 3-4 times but didn't get the achievement. Was expecting more gyms as well. What's there is good though. Other than not knowing how to change difficulty for quite some time there were no major problems. They're good about learning moves too. It doesn't take up a week and you can have all the attempts you want. That was useful when trying to learn some of the stand up ones. Just wanted to fill it out and had all the ground/sub stuff I wanted/needed. Really liked the look of the Japan and Thailand places. Also as I mentioned earlier you get to actually train without worrying about having to go into a fight with half your health or something stupid like that.Last edited by goh; 10-21-2010, 03:53 PM.Comment

I love how they will pronounce some created fighter names even if they aren't on the list and you put them in there custom. For instance they have the first name Clay but not the last name Guida however if you input Guida as his last name it will announce him as such. Very cool.Comment
