Slider for CPU Offensive Aggression?
I know there isnt a specific slider for this but does anyone know of a way to make the CPU more aggressive on offensive? I use mkharsh's sliders and i like all the numbers on my end but i always greatly out-posses the cpu on TOA and end up with way more shotsTags: None -
Re: Slider for CPU Offensive Aggression?
The CPU doesn't cycle the puck enough to raise the TOA. It makes about 3 passes, then shoots. I don't think there will ever be a definitive way to increase this for the CPU. You just have to play the game and pretty much forget about this stat.
I've had the CPU take 25+ shots but only have 2mins TOA. -
Re: Slider for CPU Offensive Aggression?
Oddly enough, I recently found that giving the CPU a more level playing field in Fatigue Effect & Recovery has balanced TOA nicely. Give it a shot.Comment

Re: Slider for CPU Offensive Aggression?
I thought about that but haven't tried yet. I'm figuring out that for the sliders this year, you have to think on a "logic" standpoint. Increase fatigue means the CPU will change lines, which in turn means they'll dump the puck. Most of the time, they won't get the puck, which means TOA decreases.
What are you settings at?
I also read a post that the pass speed is related to the pass reception slider. Higher pass speed = less control on the pass reception. It's unfortunate that the CPU doesn't seem to have this issue, so i raised my pass interception to about 5, and I see better results.Comment

Re: Slider for CPU Offensive Aggression?
I`ve come upon something that will help you guys,....
The aggression slider is best set at 3/3,.....you get end to end hockey, and there is still good hitting.
I was testing, for BaP goalie purposes,.....2/2 gives good end to end action, but it`s almost like playing Adult Safe Hockey,.....no hitting.
So on the other end,I`ve tried 4/4,5/5,6/6,...and multiple combos.
Which all give a good physical game,....but the shot totals were onky hovering at best on the low side of acceptable.
In the AI section,....I`m using 5 for AI learning,0 for cpu difficulty, and 4, for all the strategy sliders.
Like I said,....you still have the solid hitting,....but it also has good end to end hockey.
With aggression set higher it was boring, trap system, low shots....just blech!
So then I tried it out through a bunch of the other modes to see if it translated well to those......which it did.
If you want to see what I`ve done,.....and if you want to ask any questions,...check out my sliders, and fire away with the questions.Comment

Re: Slider for CPU Offensive Aggression?
I have FE at 4/5 and FR at 5/4. Keep in mind, this is in BAGM with 10 minute periods and with Penalty Scaling at 1 short of maxed.
Also worth noting is that I am only playing AHL games. Each year since the AHL was added (08 ?), I play a BAGM almost immediately with the Wild and only play the Aeros games. By time I finish a season, rosters are updated and I start a new one with the Penguins. Each year I've had to make some pretty hefty slider changes when switching to the Penguins as the game plays differently with the more-skilled NHL players.
I hope this helps.Comment

Re: Slider for CPU Offensive Aggression?
I took Rogie's advice and put the aggression at 3/3. Now, given I've only played two games since then, but for the first time since I bought this game on release day, the CPU actually at more TOA than me!
There was one game where the CPU had 6 mins to my 4. Also, the shot totals in the past two games have favored the CPU. I still see the CPU play aggressive, but they also seem to cycle the puck more.
Could be because my players aren't going after the CPU more, so they set up easier? Either way, i'll play a few more games with it at 3/3.
Oh, and my Fatigue is 5/6 and 2/2. I put the CPU at 6 because even though we were told the CPU would tire from the "Hustle", I'm not seeing it. They still beat my guys to pucks with amazing sudden bursts of speed. I also put player acceleration at 1/0 in favor of the HUM due to this "hustle" effect to even things out.Comment

Re: Slider for CPU Offensive Aggression?
My leader in PIMs is Matt Kassian with 133 through 57 games. I'm good with that number. I'm afraid lowering aggression will somehow cause fewer penalties. I'll give the 3/3 a shot though.Comment

For a 20 minute period setup, this could be an answer to controlling the shot totals so they don`t get out of hand on the high end.
For 10-11 minute periods,....not good enough.
I tried 1/1,.....but it was too much like Adult Safe hockey,....not much hitting.
2/2 was a little better,I think, for BaP skater....and I`m still going to do some testing there....it was late,I just can`t remember right now.
For Bap goalie,....I`m pretty sure 3/3 was what worked best,...although I think I was trying 2/2 there too.Comment

Re: Slider for CPU Offensive Aggression?
I just switched my aggression to 3/3 and it does seem better.
It's like the CPU isn't only focused on being over aggressive and seems to take smarter shots.
I just finished 1 period with NYR vs. NYI in my season. I started out strong getting the first 6 shots of the game but the Islanders came back with a more pressure, a powerplay and ended up with a 9-8 shot advantage after 1.
TOA was still skewed in my favor but started to even out by the end of the period due to the powerplay. I think it was around 3:00 to 1:45. Not horrible. I started the game with my 4th line and was able to cycle and keep the puck in the zone for a while.Comment

Re: Slider for CPU Offensive Aggression?
Maybe it's just me, but I've noticed that the Cpu seems to pass the puck around more with the Puck Control slider at 0. I don't think shot variety can really be helped. Upping the Cpu Difficulty slider may help the TOA as well.Comment

Re: Slider for CPU Offensive Aggression?
try increasing the CPU difficulty adjustment slider, I've been playing around with that and it seems to affect TOA and number of shots taken primarily.Comment
