The WWE Universe Thread

An old wrestling fan has been brought back into the fold thanks to a feature i wish was in wrestling games back in the old nWo halcyon days in the late 90's.
Obviously the tech was not there yet.
Now it is and the feature has such strong possibilities, that I am back in the game.

I never played exhibitions in any sports game because of the 'one off' feel of it.
It didnt mean anything.
I didnt progress.
Not anymore.
Not onlt that but EVERYONES Universe will be different.

Lets use this as a thread to chronicle those differences.

It could also be used as a Q&A for people looking for answers.

Thanks to the hardcore wrestlemaniacs at THQ [anyone who argues this is nutz. the only ones i see competing with the love of the sport is the boys at NBA 2k and the Show guys] we have a feature like this.

These guys are the types who said years ago 'If i worked on a wrestling game i would love to put such and such in". now they are, and we get it!

Now watch the mode suck and I'll have egg on my face. lol

Anyways, the countdown is on.

i dont see a thread for peoples WWE Universe stories/thoughts/Q's, brother.
So, heres one right here.
the link u gave me was a 'catch all' Impressions thread.
some peeps dont wanna sift through a thread to talk about this mode and have to work around posts about knee pads outfits and RTWM chat.
this is a new, exciting mode. it deserves its own talk box.

Yah if I want to push Drew to have a 6 month World title reign that doesn't have anything to do with impressions. This is a -what are you doing with your universe?- thread similar to -how is your franchise going?- for other sports.

I know one of the first things I'm doing is having Terry Funk retire Randy Orton. After that no idea.

Going old school for my universe. Carrying over the same idea I had on 10.

WWE belt becomes the WWF belt again(wish they had past versions of the belt to use).

World Championship reverts back to the NWA title.

And not sure how long of a run it will have but the AWA will be represented by another belt(used champion of champions last year).

Superstar Billy Graham, Harley Race and Nick Bockwinkel will resume their title reigns. Hopefully the PS3 version will have them made soon(downloaded all on 360 version in 10). Also using the intercontinental, United States and Tag Team belts.

Will not go directly with what history of the organizations did, but close as far as who gets the shots. Backlund will probably have it for a while. Flair and Lawler will be going for the other belts, and teams like the Wild Samoans, Mr Fuji/Mr Saito and the Road Warriors will be competing for titles in the WWF/NWA.

Look for my versions of the Samoans, Mr Fuji and Mr Saito right away on the PS3. I still could use help on the face formulas, but the attire and moves are as close to perfect as the game allows.

I read a little about this mode on their website. But can someone give me or point me to some more details? Like the OP I like to play "franchise mode" types in games instead of season mode, or exhibition. Last year was the first year I played SvR and while I liked the game I took it back after a week.

Call me lazy but I didn't want to spend hours creating stories in story mode to play out. Once I did all the Road to Wrestlemania things I was bored with it. I wish it didn't end there. I want to take my created superstar and have a repeating story mode like that. Can I do that, and is this what Universe mode is?

It sounds like you are more of a GM type in this mode as opposed to controlling one guy thru it like RTW. I'm cool with that just as long as I can use my created guy. Do you have to play all the matches or can you pick certain ones to play?

It sets up the stories/fueds/scenes for you and you can control anyone. If you only want to control your CAW you can or you can play every match on a card. You can change the matches it makes by default. It pretty much is a franchise mode.

The best thing to compare it to wrestling wise is probably SD 2 or Raw 2 with even more control.

So what changes are y'all going to make in your WWE Universe? I'm going to keep it fairly similar to real life, but I'm going to turn Sheamus face and put him on Smackdown to battle Kane. In turn, I'm going to put the Undertaker on Raw, because he's been on Smackdown forever. I'm also going to pair the Miz with Zack Ryder to form a tag team and contend for the title. I also plan to start a feud between Randy Orton and CM Punk on Raw.

I have a lot of ideas for the way I want to set things up initially, but then I plan to go with the flow of whatever course the Universe takes.

First thing i'll do is adjust the attributes. I don't the Rey Mysterios bodyslamming the Big Shows. Or the Cena's being super human.

You're not alone bro. I spent wayyyy too much time creating storylines for a day or two.

Then once I played...the element of surprise was gone. Thats why I stoked about WWE UNIVERSE.
