    NBA 2K11 Steam! Please Answer!

    Hi guys, Ive looked everywhere, and unfortunately, my only option to buy this game is through an online service. I heard Steam is the best, although there are other like Direct2Drive...and OnLive....

    But my questions are.

    1) Is Steam the best place to buy it online?
    2) Is the steam version modable? Like stadiums...jerseys....faces...?
    3) Can I mod the settings? So that the game looks more realistic?
    Example:
    VIDEOSETTING_ADAPTERINDEX = 0
    VIDEOSETTING_WIDTH = 1680
    VIDEOSETTING_HEIGHT = 1050
    VIDEOSETTING_COLORDEPTH = 32
    VIDEOSETTING_VSYNC = 1
    VIDEOSETTING_REFRESHRATE = 60
    VIDEOSETTING_WINDOWMODE = 0
    VIDEOSETTING_MSAA = 8
    VIDEOSETTING_MSAAQUALITY = 3
    VIDEOSETTING_MAXTEXTURESIZE = 4096
    VIDEOSETTING_DEPTHOFFIELD = 1
    VIDEOSETTING_FLOORREFLECTION = 3
    VIDEOSETTING_PLAYERLOD = 4
    VIDEOSETTING_STADIUMLOD = 3
    VIDEOSETTING_CROWDDETAIL = 2
    VIDEOSETTING_SHADERDETAIL = 5
    VIDEOSETTING_SIDELINECHARACTER = 3
    VIDEOSETTING_ANISOTROPICQUALITY = 4
    VIDEOSETTING_PARTICLEFFECT = 2
    VIDEOSETTING_FORCE_HDR_ON_INTEL_GPU = 0
    MAIN_LOGICAL_THREAD = 3
    GPU_LOGICAL_THREAD = 2
    STALL_CPU_ON_END_FRAME = 0
    LIMIT_FLIP_QUEUE_LENGTH = 2
    LIMIT_FLIP_QUEUE_LENGTH_SLEEP = 0
    STICKYKEY = 498
    TOGGLEKEY = 50
    FILTERKEY = 114
    ACCESSIBILITYKEY_SAVED = 1
    LANGUAGE = -482460772
    WINDOW_X = 0
    WINDOW_Y = 0
    CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_0 = 5
    CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_1 = 4
    CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_2 = 3
    CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_3 = 2
    NETWORK_PERFORM_BENCHMARKING = 1
    NETWORK_OPT_UPSTREAM_BANDWIDTH = 1627803
    ONLINE_FORWARDED_PORT = 0

    4) Does online work? Can I keep the game for as many computers as I want? or only this one?
    5) Any disadvantages compared to the RETAIL version?
    6) Is my computer good enough to work it at a reasonable FPS? (70+)?

    Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz
    Memory (RAM) 3.00 GB
    Graphics ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series
    Gaming graphics 1787 MB Total available graphics memory
    Primary hard disk 602GB Free (699GB Total)

    Thank you for all or any feedback!

    1) I personally like steam, if you havent used it before keep in mind that steam needs to run at the same time as the game you bought through steam

    2) you can mod the steam version just like the retail version. my computer > C:/program files/steam/steamapps/common/NBA 2k11 is the main folder

    3) you can mod settings....but there is no real need to. you can get a few extra frames per second but people are messing with that file to use the low setting courts on the high setting arenas.....no need for that crap...

    4) online has issues right now, for all PC people, not just steam. games are forced to being played on low graphic settings and if you or your opponent dont run the benchmark the frame rate is stuck at 10fps. the benchmark only takes 2 minutes to run and you dont need to run it again unless you mess with your video settings. I have not played in 1 crew game in 2k10 or in 2k11...not many people try to play it online i think. you can find people at the NLSC to play though and steam allows you to chat with your friends without exiting the game (which is really nice, I actually have the retail version but use steam to launch the game just for that feature)

    5) no differences other than not having a disc. steam allows you to reinstall/redownload all of your games for free though. you can redownload 2k11 on any computer that you log into steam with for free. and once you register online with your cd key all you have to do is login. other computers will not have any patches or saves though that you have on your main computer

    6) I dont know the equivalents but I run a smooth 50fps at 1600x900 with a core2 quad Q6600 2.40, 3 gigs, and a 8800gt 512mb. You can always drop the player setting down to medium which looks fine but it removes the moving cloth jerseys for static jerseys.

    All I can say is DONT get the onlive version. I love onlive but NBA 2K10/11 runs on medium settings on there and you cannot mod it at all.

    Also, keep in mind that if you live outside of North America your courts will not have the small logos inside the 3pt line. Like the bulls logos on either side of the foul line.

        the ps3 controller should work the same as in 2k10

        i have windows 7 as well
        if you ahve 64-bit windows some of the tools only work on 32-bit but the 3d mod tool (which also does textures) and the roster editor (not out yet) work on 64-bit
