I find offline franchise so addicting..
I'm on my 5th, 9 minute, playmakers sliders game for the day. I can't stop playing haha. I started a Steelers Franchise today and I am already in Week 6! Does anyone else find this game addicting, it's like I keep saying to myself just one more game..Tags: None -
Re: I find offline franchise so addicting..
I truly am an offline franchise addict. That is why it pains me that there is no future draft pick trades, RFA, practice squads, working IR..etc.
This isn't a bash post...I truly love franchise mode. I just wish it loved me back.Comment

Re: I find offline franchise so addicting..
I think one of the reasons offline franchise gets bashed so much, is that so many people simply care too much. And... with Head Coach 09, EA set a standard that we know they can attain. Yet they simply don't. Or won't.
Nonetheless, in a perverse way I look forward to the end of the season and firing, hiring, re-signing and rebuilding. I'll spend 20 minutes just staring at the player progressions, and completely irrationally I'll re-sign players that have done well and progressed significantly, even if I know they're C potential overall.
Offline franchise is the only thing that keeps me coming back to Madden. I get a little bored, I buy shiny new games (GT 5, Special Ops both on my shopping list) but Madden's the game I always come back to.Comment

Re: I find offline franchise so addicting..
Same here. Its VERY addicting. Needs a little more depth to it, but I still love it. Its just another world I immerse myself in from time to time.
It started back up in Madden 10 where I found myself playing 2 games in a sitting. I love my wife to the end, but I'm absolutely elated when she goes shopping or has her friends over so I can have my NCAA/ Madden marathons lol.
Man I'm serious about my dynasty/franchise mode.Comment

Re: I find offline franchise so addicting..
I love it as well. I still REALLY want a massive upgrade, but it's all I play.
The right slider set makes a HUGE difference. I use a tweak of mikeownz sliders and they are great. I feel like I really earn wins and deserve the losses. You can really tell a difference when a stud goes out. I haveas my RB and when he's out and Tashard Choice comes in I know I have to call different plays and can't be as aggresive. Same for the CPU. Played the Redskins and they lost thier starter and a worn down (I'm in 2012) Clinton portis came in and he was noticebly easier to contain.SpoilerShaydon Favors
Very fun to play.Don't look back too long and don't look too far ahead.Comment

Re: I find offline franchise so addicting..
I have found Mike2Ownz's slider set to be the best for me.
Try them both. I liked Playmakers too but found Mikes to really give me a more realistic game, and the fact that I really had to earn my rushing yards by sticking with it. I found the running game a tad easier with Playmakers and the passing game much tougher with Playmakers. The reverse is true of Mike's. I am a much better RB in Madden than QB so I needed a slider set that made it harder for me to run and easier to pass.
His work that way for my playing style.
You will also end up tweaking some things to your liking. The key is both are a very good base to use and build off of.
I am also addicted to franchise mode and it took some effort this go around. I am controlling all 32 teams.
It has been a revelation to say the least. Lot's of fun for sure.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 10-25-2010, 02:41 PM.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: I find offline franchise so addicting..
I prefer mikeownz sliders for the same reason Armor and Sword said. I tweaked them, I am not good enough to make all the adjustments he did but I used them as a guide.
This is nerdy, but I used to play RPG's on paper (D&D, Marvel Super Heroes, Gamma World, etc.) and I still have my old dice. To add some depth and drama to Madden I use the old RPG dice to roll in season for players that get suspended, demand trades, etc. It's pretty fun. I roll a d4 to pick a team per division per week and then I roll a d10 for a position (I re-roll for K/P
). Then I roll a die depending on the number of players at the position. Once the player is selected I roll to see if they:
- demand a trade
- are suspended for banned substance (roll d6 for weeks)
- suspended for Pacman/Plaxico/Roethlisberger style behavior (roll again for # of weeks)
It can yield hilarious results. You obviously have to do a 32 team franchise but it is a blast. It adds storylines to a season and since it's random it prevents me from cheating and keeps the season fresh and unpredictable.Don't look back too long and don't look too far ahead.Comment

Re: I find offline franchise so addicting..
Finally, a thread that talks about people loving franchise mode rather than complaining.
I love it. I find it can keep me entertained for a fair amount of time. I would like it to have a bit more depth, but I still love it.Comment

Re: I find offline franchise so addicting..
This thread gives me hope. I'm playing NCAA 11 now, but plan on jumping into Madden next year b/c the constant rostering I do wears me out, and I don't have the time anymore........plus, I want playoffs, bowls are stupid and I don't care what anyone says in that regard.Currently playing:
MLB 21 The Show
College Hoops 2K8
Pro Evolution Soccer 2018
NHL 19
NCAA Football 14/11
NBA 2K16
Madden 20Comment
