    Cancelling play action?

A few strategy posts I saw about specific plays choose a play action call and then 'cancel play action'. How do you do that exactly?

Hot route the back preforming the fake to do something else.

I honestly haven't tried it this year, but in the past you just hotroute the player that the PA is on(usually the RB) to run a passing route.

        Correct.

Hot route the back that the handoff is faked to, and assign him to block or run a pass route.

This will negate the play action.

When I first read the title I thought you meant cancel playaction reference taking it out of the the playbook. You see where my mind was at, lol.

I dont know if I'm doing something wrong, but I dont think playaction plays work AT ALL. Defense blows that **** up before you even snap the ball. I ignore all PA plays in the playbook. They dont work correctly.

They work when you set up the run, but lots of time they are bringing more defenders than you OL can block. I admit its harder than in the past, but i felt like ppl abused it in the pass also.

I've noticed the same thing. The CPU loves to blitz, but the CPU still "falls" for the play-action if you set up the run. I have a vid up that shows playaction working on all-madden difficulty setting, because I set it up with some good runs before using it. Even if it's harder than it should be realistically, I'm glad it's no longer a cheap way to pull the secondary down and throw bombs to streaking WRs.

Yeah that's the easiest way. If you change what the back does then it doesn't do play action. I guess if you want playaction but want the back to do something different from the original play, you just hot route then add the playaction back in
