Be a GM season length

Does the game still not provide a choice to play a short NHL season and forces you to play 82 games, like it did last year?

Anyone knows why EA does this? 2k games give you an option of shorter seasons.

Technically, you're not FORCED to play an 82-game season. There is the option to simulate. However, there is no way to shorten a season.

Yes, you are right about the simulation option, but then the season's results, stats, etc is not solely your achievement.

I sure hope this is brought up enough times by a big number of NHL gamers, to really get the attention of EA Canada.

Enough to were a customizable season length is added for NHL '12'. I'd be very pleased if we at least got a 41/82 game option for '12'.

For me anyway...a 41 game season would be nearly perfect. To were you'd play each of your four division rivals 4 times. [16 games] And then play the remaining 25 teams in the league once. 16+25=41. Of all the possible things that maybe added for next years game....a customizable season length, for me...is right near the very top of wants.

I remember buying 09 (hadn't played a hockey sim since 2k5) and it was just shocking that you had to play 82 games, should come with a a warning on the box for bagm players who have a full time job and dont want to watch the computer play your game, I dont get why it cant be an option, it seems so exlcuding to me, reminds me of apple (we don't like flash so you cant use it on your phone).

I just got NHL 12 & no such luck. I've been playing NBA 2K since 2009 & they have had a 29 game season & I love it. It seems like a super simple add on. You would think a downloadable update would solve the issue. To me the playoffs & off season are the best part of GM/franchise modes.

im not starting my BaGM yet, hoping that EA will patch it up so we can have a choice of having 41 games/season. but if they will release it via patch hopefully they will not mess up the next season's schedule.

if not, this will be one of the "new" features for NHL13 alongside with goalie fatigue and SC celebration for BaGM.

Ummm... I wouldn't wait, I really really doubt they are going to patch this in.
If this is not in next year along with Online Multiplayer BaGM with custom sliders, I will be skipping 13 like I skipped madden the last 2 years.

i was hesitant in buying the NHL 12 because based on the DEMO (i know demo is only 50% compared to the retail version) it looks and feel similar to NHL 11. finally decided to buy since i already pre-ordered it and based on some observations of those who have the retail ahead of time.

on what I see in NHL 12, "sim" engine looks above expectations based on stats, injuries and hopefully the schedule for the following season, im satisfied. although of course I was hoping a great presentation (pre-game, post game, sc celebrations) & customizable BaGM game/season. so if there's no significant changes in NHL 13 i'll pass (of course its too early to say this )
