“We want the game to sell. What the hardcore guys need to realize is that the casual gamers help sell games, the casuals pay for the features that the hardcore fans want. We have to focus on increasing the market and growing in sales, to give the die-hard fans what they want. Casual gamers are essential, and we want to draw in fans that may have never picked up a boxing game before.” Mike Mahar

This may worry some of you, but please understand me when I say I have full confidence in EA pulling of what was once considered impossible. They just might be able to have something for everyone. Boxing fans will get boxing, Sports gamers will get depth and authenticity, and Complete gamers will get an interesting and engaging experience that is sure to bring them into the sport and hopefully create boxing fans out of them.

Well that sounds good in theory, but thats a tough path to walk and few have done it successfully

If your not careful you'll end up with a game without a soul making every party feel underwhelmed

NBA Live and Madden have been shinning examples of games without proper priorities and vision to take them above being mediocre

Every year for them it was a new way to do this or that to get you to buy the game.....all the while the same problems persisted with the core......They've looked for every excuse possible to get out of fixing those core problems

Theres just no way getting around doing the tough stuff, if you want your game to be considered a faithful attempt at simulation

NHL had to take 2 years off to gets its stuff together and really didn't hit its stride until NHL 10

Forza and Gran Turismo spend years researching and building on their sim engines

and NBA 2k has always been about basketball 1st...Online Coins, Stat Boost Packs,Purchasable Scouting Reports..ect..ect.....2nd...They're making the game how they want to make it first

Hope Brizzo and Mike can get it done and or allowed to ....

I feel very optimistic, especially in that exploits were pointed out and shown. I completely understand the challenge of wanting to make a simulation but at the same time have to cater to the what sells the game, and that is the casual consumer. EA is in the business of making money. This isn't a charity. They are for-profit and have to keep sales increasing if we want future representations of this game.

That being said, I look forward to corrections in stamina and punch effectiveness. There are many things that can be addressed. I hope they aren't overwhelmed and focus on the essentials.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

Please do, I could technically point you in one direction and practically show you everything I saw indepth. But of course I cannot for the time being. But I'm saying with confidence that everything I wrote in my blog is legit, and is reflecting exactly how the devs are handling things. There will be many, many, many surprises for boxing games, and gaming fans a like that both will enjoy equally.

They can definitely get it done, but the question is...how real are your expectations of "how soon" can they get it done? Thats the key here. Brizzo said, it took NBA2K, Fifa and all the top titles multiple tries before they became the elite sports titles. This IS only his 3rd Game, and this is only Mike's and a lot of other producers 2nd.

So with that said, ask yourself how real are your expectations? If over inflated, you'll likely be dissapointed. But if you set your sights on whats possible within 18 months, you WILL be satisfied. Also, brizzo commented that if they could take 8 years and make ONE PERFECT game they would. But its just not possible, not from a cost stand point, labor stand point or technological stand point either. They'd honestly develop a Fight Night for the Next/Next gen system if they had the resources....

I'm just trying to improve your perspective.

Now the game has its flaws and things would be different for boxing. This would be a great concept to work off though. It's like career that you can control and watch unfold. Add a ranking system and title history and you have a winner.

Probably not in the works, but would be a lot more fun then FN4's career. I had more fun trying to make something like I just described playing offline. Of course no belts we up and rankings were kept track of by myself. There is a lot we all hope for, but I think this could make whatever they change go a long way.

That basically summed it up. What they have is with the universe option turned on...all matches are recorded and affect the universe. So if you create a match it gets added to the current card on that date.

All those results for the card, whether played or simmed, factor in on future cards and the pay-per-views at the end of each month. The ranking system for the 4 main titles are kept(1-10). You however can set it any way you choose though. Go into My WWE and update who has what title. Who is allies with this wreslter and what enemies does he have. It's not perfect the way they did some things, but I think this would work great for boxing. Can use the boxers with the game and created. You would have control over it all.

I am sure they will go with a career mode like the past, maybe improved. That works okay if you just want to build up one boxer.

However give the option to create a boxer and make whatever attributes. Then take the universe idea and use it for outside of the standard career mode. Give us the option to alter what we choose and reset it or have multiple instances and you may have the GOAT of boxing games.

I really wish this could happen, but my voice is probably too late and not enough to influence such a big title. I think though everyone could enjoy this mode and sim fans would have fights they always dreamed of and meaningful exhibition fights with titles and rivalries on the line.
                    The Golf Club created courses:

Ashford Pines Golf Club (front 9)

                    Full version release June 2016

Challenging course without the cheap gimmicks.

Its a excellent idea. From what I heard of "universe" mode it is quite fantastic. A mode such as that where everyone's "universe" is different than someone else and tons of creativity & customization would lend itself extremely well to the boxing genre.

Great idea Evil and something I would submit as wishlist.

I have confidence they'll fix a lot of the gameplay issues.

I'm more worried about the career mode.
I really hope it's not just the regular training mini-games. That system is so old and tired.
If you want people to get better at the game, give them the ability to spar.
Heavier gloves, smaller sparring partners, bigger ring, etc.

We brought that up, and asked for the ability to set up sparring sessions for online with user controlled settings. While we weren't that specific...its not too late to ask. We'll have to wait and see for that one.

But I never go online. I do all my gaming offline so I'm dying for a boxing game to give us at least 50% of what VB2 offered. (a 10-year-old game on a dead console)

I'm a boxing nut (been that way since I was a little kid), but I haven't really been into the Fight Night Series since FN3 when I first got my Xbox. Nice write up and I'm hoping that this will be a great game.
