But online I'm certainly going through some growing pains. I know about the body shots issue, but in general, is there an effective way to counter someone who is just going bananas with hooks to the face?

I've run into some boxers who just throw wildly, and I just don't really know what to do besides go for the takedown, which if they are decent at all, block pretty easily.

Also, Classic Bas Rutten is a whore.

    PS, how do I sway?
Hook spammers; I'd try to take to the ground or clinch. If you have a stand up fighter, you're gonna have to turn into a counter fighter (sway, parry, in/out)

Sway, I believe hold the RT and flick the LS which ever way you wanna sway

In the end he threw over 200 kicks, and still had stamina left! It was like fighting a ******** ninja. It was impossible to close distance on him because his kicks have like a 6 foot reach. All in all i'm having a lot of fun, lots of close fights that were back and forth. But filters need to be added to weed out the hook spammers.
Yeah I think the stand-up stamina could use some tweaking so it's not such a swing fest.

I have heard that the judging system was screwed up and broken but I was not expecting just how broken it is. I played against a friend last night. Awesome fight. No one could get an advantage. Even every round except the last round I dominated with 6 takedowns, 2 sub attempts, and also rocking him on the feet. I spent most of the round landing shots on him from side mount and half guard. Decision time I lost: 29:26, 29:27, 29:28. First of all how I could have lost the last round in 2 of the judges eyes is insane. Cecil Peoples wouldn't have even had my friend winning. The next problem is the first round a judge gave me a 7?! In an even fight! I even thought I may have won the first round. But I got a 7?!. Even more insane is one judge had me win the round at 10:9. Well hopefully it's patch cause this is a crazy judging system.

I have yet to go to judge's decision, though I came rather close a few times. I wonder if a patch could fix this issue as others have reported or if it is something that we must wait till MMA2.

From what I'm hearing from a very reliable source, the judging is will be fixed in the upcoming patch. No ETA on the patch's release date, but it is coming.

That is good news if it will be fixed.

Another issue that I have with career is that I wish we had a list of the rankings. I would love to choose my own opponent(s), but also be able to see which fighters are ahead in the rankings this way I can better concentrate on training in specific areas since 8 weeks may not be enough when you have an upcoming title fight. I feel like I get forced into title fights and would rather fight one extra opponent if I have to before taking the title shot so I can better train for the champ.

With a few fixes, this career mode can exceed expectations as it is very fun in its current state.

I am 12-3 in my career and those 3 losses were against opponents that I underestimated during the fight making stupid mistakes.

Having weigh-ins would also be nice for the sequel..........unless they are there when you get further along.

You can see the ranking of every league but only your weight class. Its actually pretty cool because at on point I was 5th in Mystic rankings, but #1 in the world. You can see the stats and fight history of anyone on the list. Just press the start button to get to your phone (same as if you were changing the difficulty.)

That is not too bad being able to see your class, would be cool to see all of them too. I've looked at the stats and fight history of my upcoming opponent(s) which has been helpful.......did not know about everyone on the list. I'll take a deeper look into the cell phone.

Just got this today and it's a lot of fun. Really enjoy the transition gameplay. Tons of quickly downloaded UFC guys too, really awesome. Gotta give it more time, but glad I got it.

But you have to be good with hitting the defend button, or back on the stick. I think the rating makes it so you have a longer time to push them off after they attempt it. If your rating is low, I'm guessing you have to be right on with it.
i just played murilo rua and he had as much success as shogun in getting me in the clinches. Are you sure to block their muay thai clinch attempts we use the sprawl button? no parries ? it's fine on medium level, but on hard level they spam the muay thai clinch and you fewel like you have no weapons to counter it.

not only that, the cpu is much more punch happy on Hard level....anyone noticing the same things?

I found medium level better to be honest and believe it or not, it's much easier to KO the cpu on Hard than medium since they're so punch happy.

Yopu wait for the perfect counter and BAM, TKO....happens much more on hard than medium level.

                            Question on career mode difficulty...

I'm starting out with a jiu jitsu guy and I'm 4-0 (or 5-0) with all my wins as very fast submissions (either chokes or kimuras). I'm at whatever the default difficulty is, do I need to up it or do the guys get tougher as I go on? I can just get into a sub position easily and can cinch in the first sub every time...

Career is fun though, this is a much cooler way than UFC, that always seemed to confuse me with so much to do.

Awesome game, I'm really enjoying the differences...both UFC and this are fun, and different...hopefully THQ takes some hints from here...

Oh don't worry it gets difficult. My first fight in Japan, I'm getting rocked on the stand up so I go for the takedown but the guy reverses it and catches me in a guillotine choke and I tap out. My guy is Jiu Jitsu fighter with a 93 submissions rating.
