Re: NCAA11 Off-Line Dynasty Progress
Eastern Michigan Stuns #2 Ohio State in Columbus!!
Just had a monumental upset with Eastern Michigan over Ohio State. It was one of those classic upsets that shouldn't ever happen but does, somehow, in real life. It even had that feel to it.
Ohio State came out on their 1st possession, had a 45 yard play called back because of holding, stuffed them on a 1st down run, timed a hit perfectly to force a dropped pass on 2nd down, and Pryor just overthrew his receiver on 3rd down. So, somehow on their 1st possession I got them to go 3 and out. I ensued with a 3 and out of my own.
On Ohio State's next possession, though, I was able to get my DT to shoot the gap and hit Pryor as he was throwing it, the ball popped up into the air, and my DE ran it in for the pick-six. Fortunately he only had to run 18 yards because he still almost got caught.
Ohio State drove the ball down the field on me, but on a 3rd and 10 they had a TD called back on a clipping call, and couldn't convert the 3rd and 20, and kicked the FG.
A few more three and outs by me, and me playing "bend but not break defense", I was down 9-7 with the ball and 2:30 left in the first half. My RB at this point had 9 carries for 2 yards, but I wanted to run the ball on 1st down to get the clock running. Ohio State showed blitz but had the left side of the box loaded, I motioned my TE over to the right, was running "Power-O", and he and the FB landed perfect blocks, and my RB sprung open a big run before being chased down from behind and tackled at the Ohio State 2 yard line. I ran the ball twice with my FB for a gain of 1 yard. Got fancy on 3rd down and called a pass play, QB got flushed out of the pocket and was able to scramble into the endzone to give me a 14-9 lead at halftime.
I got the ball 1st in the third quarter. Picked up a couple of 1st downs to get the ball up to my 41 yard line. Called "PA Scissors" and it turned into one of those unintentional/intentional pick plays, because the guy crossing to the middle ran right into the man guarding my guy going to the sideline, hit him wide-open and he ran it in for the 58 yard TD. EMU 21 - Ohio State 9, 5:30 left in the 3rd quarter.
On their next two possessions, after moving the ball down the field on me, deep into my territory, I got a lucky fumble recovery, and a tipped INT. I got a 3 and out on one possession, but was able to actually sustain a drive and score another TD off the other turnover. So, I was up 28-9 with under a minute left in the 3rd quarter.
The craziness didn't end there, though. On the ensuing kickoff Ohio state fumbled the ball and scooped it and ran it inside the 10. Had to settle for the FG, though, to go up 31-9 after 3.
The 4th quarter, Ohio State began their comeback, though. I threw two picks on my next two possessions, that eventually turned into 15 points for Ohio State. So, it was 31-24 with about 5:00 to go in the game. My next possession I was able to move the ball a little bit and got into FG range to make it a 34-24 game, and 3:45 left. Ohio State answered with a two play TD drive to make it 34-31 and about 3:00 left. After two runs for gains of 3 and 8, I called another running play on 1st down, 2:30 left in the game, up 3. OSU, though, shows blitz, and has 9 in the box. I decide to be risky (I'm a huge underdog on the road against the #2 team in the nation), and audibled to a pass, but I called for my TE to run a hot-route and run a vertical route straight down the field. I was just hoping I could get the ball off in time with enough air under it for him to catch it for the first down and I could run most of the clock out. It resulted in so much more. I was actually to put some zip on the pass, lead my TE just enough for him to catch in stride, and he ran in uncontested into the endzone. One of the 2 players OSU didn't have in the box was able to catch up to my TE, but he shed the tackle at about the 10 yard line, and ran in.
OSU immediately returned the favor with a 2 play, 0:20 drive to make it 41-38. I had the ball, up 3, with 1:12 to go, and OSU had two timeouts.
Run it on 1st down, loss of 3, timeout OSU, 1:07 to go
Run it on 2nd down, loss of 1, timeout OSU, 1:03 to go
Kneel it on third down since OSU is out of timeouts
Snap and punt the ball out of bounds (to avoid a return) OSU has the ball on their own 30 with 0:05 to go in the game. The call a hailmary, it lands incomplete, and Eastern Michigan wins in the Horseshoe!!!!!!
Eastern Michigan 41
2 Ohio State 38
Final
This was after a 1-2 start with losses to Michigan and Central Michigan, and a win over Miami (OH). Played on 8 minute quarters with SECElite's sliders.Last edited by hoopla32; 11-05-2010, 03:37 PM.Comment

Re: NCAA11 Off-Line Dynasty Progress
Looks like I am going to have to recruit a lot of talent this offseason with a lot of seniors graduating. Does anybody have any tips?
I have the No. 3 and No. 5 RBs interested as their No. 1 choice (preseason) but last year the same thing happened and they got away. That goes with a lot of other positions too.
Any help is appreciated.Comment

Re: NCAA11 Off-Line Dynasty Progress
I struggled bad with recruiting my first 3 seasons. I had to change it up and this is what I did.Looks like I am going to have to recruit a lot of talent this offseason with a lot of seniors graduating. Does anybody have any tips?
I have the No. 3 and No. 5 RBs interested as their No. 1 choice (preseason) but last year the same thing happened and they got away. That goes with a lot of other positions too.
Any help is appreciated.
first I went into my home state and got interested kids (3 stars are diamonds in the rough)
I then looked at who all was interested and only recruited guys that had me in there top 5
I also only recruit 15-20 kids a year so i can give them atleast 30 min a call!!
after selecting my kids I then got out a piece of paper

lol then hard pitched whatever option came up and wrote down the score.
I did that because if the score was 55 to 60 and above the next time it came up I asked the recruit and unlocked it, it also helps u to know what to try and swaye after its unlocked
it works for me!!

Re: NCAA11 Off-Line Dynasty Progress
Just started my 2011 season and landed two instant commits. One was a 4* guard while the other is a 4* athlete who I'll probably move to either RB or CB.
Beat Colorado on the road, 48-31. The Buffaloes cut it to 34-31 late and forced a punt but I blasted the punt returner and took the fumble to the house. On their next possession, I picked it off and scored with four seconds remaining to get the final score.

Re: NCAA11 Off-Line Dynasty Progress
Revenge is sweet!
No. 7 Penn State 38, No. 1 Alabama 34
The Crimson Tide rolled into Happy Valley but didn't leave victorious. The Nittany Lions scored a touchdown with three minutes left to win the game and the defense held Alabama to a punt on the next drive.
With the win, Penn State improved to 2-0 and is now ranked No. 4.
Rutgers is next.Comment

Re: NCAA11 Off-Line Dynasty Progress
Alright, I know Im a little late to the party but I figured Id add my experiences into this thread. Me and one of my friends started a dynasty, he was Penn State and I was Miami. We decided to add six players to the roster that we could use anyway we wanted. He created a QB(Burkes), WR(Wagamen), HB(J.Moore), TE(Dubler), WR(Burk), DE(Selby). He runs Alabamas PB and uses alot of rollout passes (waggle, ect) after he has had a few successful runs. I made a very offense heavy team and decided to use Mississippi States PB. I made a scrambling QB(D.Moore), two HB's (Frisby, and Washington), a big jones-esque WR(Combs), another tall speedy reciever (Pope) and a big TE(Conley). Now we both have different PB's but the same running philosiphy..this being said we went into our dynasty and we had gotten probably 6 weeks in. Both undefeated, and on our way to the national championship faceoff when two more friends decided to jump in choosing Bama and VT.
We finished out our first season and Burkes lead the nation in passing yrds, using Wagamen and Dubler as his chain movers and Tyreek Burk as his big play threat.
Miami ended up stumbling against UF (I moved them into the SEC) and didnt get to play in the SEC championship, but Moore, Frisby and Washington all had 1,000+ yards rushing and lead the nation in rushing yards, rushing tds and plays of over 20yrds. A very explosive offense to say the least. Bama ended up losing in the SEC championship, VT won the ACC, PSU won the Big10 and ended up playing in the BCS Championship. We all won our bowl games except VT and all recieved contract extentions (VT and Bama declined the offers).
Now heading into the off-season we decided that since two teams had created players wed make recruits to add to the board to make it fair. The top recruits were Louis Saint-Pierre, a Julius Peppers type DE, Andre Morehouse playmaking LB, his brother DeMarcus Morehouse a ball hawking saftey Arelius Black an undersized but athletic OLB. Thomas a big bruising, yet suprisigly quick HB, Wilson a long, athletic scrambling QB, Merchant and Carter two track-star athletes. Think of Rainey and Demps type of explosion, Beach and Owens two solid wr's. Adrian Foster, a DE that is athletic enough to stand up and play LB, Ressee Washington a Deshaun Jackson type reciever and Green a bowling ball of a RB. Think Jones-Drew, add a few linemen (N.Wilson, Hardeman, Carroll, and Fultz) and our recruits were set.
It was an amazing fight for the game-changing recruits. Miami landing Saint-Pierre, Foster, Black, the Morehouse brothers to sure up the defense and Hardeman, Carter and Merchant to an already explosive offense that averaged 65 ppg last yr.
PennState added Fultz to anchor the center of the O-line, Micheal Burkes a sleeper QB that is the stereo-typical pocket passer, and a plethora of linebackers to add depth across the defense.
VT stole Green, the game-changing RB from the defending champions Penn State and added Washington to an offense that is primed for a breakout year despite losing Tyrod Taylor.
Bama looks to re-vamp the entire offensive scheme. Losing Ingram and Jones to the draft, but returning a solid o-line, Trent Richardson, and adding Thomas into the backfield with new field general Wilson. Adding Owens and Beach on the outside make it a very formittable offense. Theyll be trying out the Michigan spread this year with the addition of Wilson into the backfield.Comment

Re: NCAA11 Off-Line Dynasty Progress
Yeah, I went back and edited it to add the "headline". Maybe I shouldn't have done that. It was definitely the most fun I've had playing a game of NCAA football. It was also the most nerve-wracking. I knew it was going to be only a matter of time before all the breaks went my way and Ohio State made their comeback. Almost everytime I ran the ball, Ohio State's DT's were in the backfield almost before I could complete the handoff. I had to go shotgun most of the game just to buy my QB some time, and was working the short curl and crossing routes. If they showed blitz and put 8 or 9 in the box, I would hot route a WR to a vertical route, and if he got behind the defense, I would lob it up and hope for the best.freaking awesome win!! Although, for future reference (are you listening Gorilla), don't give away the end of the game at the beginning! I like reading it all and waiting til the end to see if you won or not. If you read my posts, thats how I do it - builds suspense, just like a real game!
That was a huge upset tho, congrats man. SECelite's sliders are the best, aren't they?
(i play 10 minute quarters tho)
Just finished up year 1 with Eastern Michigan. Went 8-4 and won the MAC. Lost to Louisville in the GMAC Bowl by a TD. Was a fun season and got EMU up to a 2* prestige.
My recruiting class was just awful. It was the 114th ranked class and my average star rating was 1.60. This is definitely going to be a challenge, but I'm up for it. In year one my non-conference games were, at Michigan, at Ohio State, at Vanderbilt, and vs. Army. I got a split by beating Ohio State and Army. In year two I plan on scheduling all schools from an AQ conference and two preseason top 20 teams.Comment
