    Rediculous close-out speeds

The speed at which the defense closes out shooters is atrocious. Exhibit A:

    EDIT: Sorry for the spelling.

turn up gamespeed and turn down playerspeed (also quickness in the slidersettings) in association/season should fix this i imagine.

I haven't had problem with this aspect of the game. And the pictures don't really prove much.

I don't think this is a problem. The ability of defenders to recover fast enough after pump fakes to end up blocking your shot in front of you is worst. Plus the the weird quick sand effect when you drive into the paint.

In My Player, I can constantly leave my man open to temp him to shoot then turbo recover to block the shot. In a playoff series against the Thunder I averaged 3 blocks per game with my 6'9" SF, all coming from close out blocks on Durant. I could literally stand at the foul line and be fast enough to recover.

People do it to win games. Players do whatever is possible. The reason it doesn't happen on a real court is that it's not possible.

House rules to play "sim" ruin the game for many people. "No blocking from the FT line, no this, no that." Knowing there's something that can be done to win, but not doing it because it's a house rule, cheapens the game.

If a person can win every game, but doesn't just by limiting their own play, there's no real challenge.

It was worse in 2k10, but it can definitely be improved upon. If I'm actually controlling the player, I can run a good distance and challenge the shot pretty quickly and unrealistically.

I don't have this problem at all, but the CPU does, now that I'm used to the controls. I swatted 19 of the CPU's shots a few days ago, playing on All-Star/Sim without sliders. It was ridiculous. Sliders help it somewhat, though.

                        Re: Rediculous close-out speeds

I made a thread that is tied into this: http://www.operationsports.com/vBull...hots-2k11.html (Poll numbers confirm with my thread title)

Ridiculous close-out speeds is one reason why it is too easy to block jumpshots while using turbo.

Others are the following when using turbo:

                        1. Unrealistic vertical when contesting. Defender jumps way too high.

                        2. Using turbo, the contest covers too much ground/distance. Unrealistic.

                        3. No animation in this game of contesting a jumpshot while backpedaling. When backpedaling it's difficult to jump high/cover a lot of distance because of momentum/weight carrying you the other way. Adding this animation will help tremendously in not getting an insane amount of blocks.

                        4. In the NBA, players rarely block jumpshots nor do they jump to contest a perimeter jumpshot. Coaches tell the players to put a hand/arm up when contesting jumpshots. This is because if you jump you can slap a guy on the arm/wrist/head etc. or hit his body in general. This of course is not implemented in 2K11.

What they should do in 2K12 is not have a jump button on defense but a contest button. So when you press the button out on the perimeter to contest, the defender puts his hand/arm up instead of jumping. Either that or fix what I mentioned above and make contesting jumpshots realistic.

They can also make improvements on the offensive side as well:

                        1. Certain forms are too flat or the player barely get's off the ground (ex. Dirk Nowitzki/Corey Maggette/Paul Pierce 3 pt set shot) leading to an easy block.

                        2. If the defender is up close you shoot the ball with more arc (to prevent from getting blocked) or have a specific jumpshot animation when covered tightly to avoid getting blocked.

However most of the problems lie within how the defender contest jumpshots.
