Re: EA Sports MMA Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
I'm like 20-1, the 1 was a fight I stupidly tried to box a bit and got caught...whenever it goes to the ground I can get a sub within a minute on medium.
Gonna tinker with random matches but I think I need a higher level since I'm Strikeforce champion and retaining it easily with subs (all wins are by sub lol)Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Log into easports.com, go to my player hub, then go to tools, photo face is available there.
In MMA you create a fighter and when you go to edit the head/face (i forget the exact name) you can choose to do a game face there from online...
Hope that helpsNintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: EA Sports MMA Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
Fedor is a beat in this game. I won the Strikeforce title and defended it twice successfully and then I end up facing Fedor. He literally took me out in the first round within 40 seconds, it was embarrassing. He made me submit to an armbar. Any recommendations if I have to face him again since I don't think he will lose the title by the next time I get a title shot. I have built my guy to be a striker and ground n pound.Comment

Best way is to choke him out with a good grappler, his choke defense is not as good as his joint submission defense in the game (think real-life, his only real loss was to triangle choke). If you are a standup fighter, stay out of his range using your jab and low kicks, work his speed down with leg kicks and body kicks, and then work down his stamina and THEN go for a flury of head strikes to TKO him. It's hard but he is beatable, you just can't go in swinging for his head at the start of the fight or he will catch you.-------------------------------------------

Can you answer a question for me?Best way is to choke him out with a good grappler, his choke defense is not as good as his joint submission defense in the game (think real-life, his only real loss was to triangle choke). When defending a submission, does it look to your submission stats at all? Does it rely solely on what your ground D is?
I figured it looked at your ground D to decide whether to goto the mini game, and once in the mini game I figured it then looked at your submission skills?
Can you clairfy this at all for me? Based on your post it seems I am correct. Makes a huge difference in how I will make my fighters.Comment

Simon, I'm a bit confused by the bolded above.
In a post about two weeks ago, you said:
When defending, your grapple defense stat and stamina determines the size of your sweet spot, when attacking your choke submission skill and stamina determines the size of your sweet spot. The size of that spot makes a HUGE difference in how easy it is to pull out the choke or escape.
So, is submission defense determined solely by the fighter's grapple defense and stamina recovery rating, or do his submission attributes in Choke, Arm, and Leg, play a role?Comment

Re: EA Sports MMA Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
Pretty much the same with my guy. Undefeated at 15-0 with all by submission, 14 in the first round. The fights have gotten tougher and my most recent one was against someone who could actually hold their own on the ground and it took me to the 2nd round to sub him.I'm like 20-1, the 1 was a fight I stupidly tried to box a bit and got caught...whenever it goes to the ground I can get a sub within a minute on medium.

My guy's chin is awful though. If I try and stand with anyone, one clean shot will send my guy into a rocked state. Its happened in at least 6 fights.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

I messed around with Overeem against Rogers and was doing ok with strikes but Rogers would win more often than not...I need to work on my stand up game a bit more before jumping levels I think.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: EA Sports MMA Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
Simon, I'm having a HUGE problem with my grapple defense. I can't stop takedowns or clinches. I'm on classic controls. I can see takedowns coming and I flick RS frantically or hold it back. It almost never works. 90% of takedowns are successful against me. I'm almost certain that it has nothing to do with my reaction time. I react fast enough but the command doesn't register. It's really frustrating because I go for these surprise takedowns and see them get stuffed by white belts so I know it should be easier than what I'm experiencing.
Am I doing something wrong?Comment

Re: EA Sports MMA Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
Wow, put it on Hard and was my Career guy (big sub specialist) vs. Militich for like an hour...
I can beat him with subs sometimes, but it takes me a lot longer to get them to work (and usually it's the limb, not the chokes...I can do great defending the chokes, but on the harder level it seems so tough to get them to sink in)
Standup is harsh....I've tried to use points to get my chin better, but man I get rocked so easily....is there a good way to make a guy decent at subs but that isn't tissue paper standup? Do I pick something other than BJJ as my base?
Fun game still...just gotta balance my career fighter somehow...sucks not being able to stand up at all
Also, subs seem really hard on hard...it's way easy on medium, but really tough on hard, no middle ground at all...how do you manage to sink in any chokes on hard? It seems like the CPU is awesome on the stick rotation and it's impossibleLast edited by mgoblue; 11-07-2010, 05:33 AM.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: EA Sports MMA Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
Is there any advice anywhere here on how to fight standup? I tried taking Fedor against people on medium and a lot of them just always try taking me down. I've gotten good at avoiding takedowns, but it seems impossible to sit and punch...whenever I get anywhere near in range to throw punches that might land they either try and clinch or takedown. I can't really throw combinations or anything, and if it somehow gets to be an exchange I end up getting rocked and KO'ed.
I've gone through the tutorial mode in career where you learn the buttons, but whenever I try feinting or anything it doesn't seem to be beneficial. They just always try the takedown. I know I can then use the ground game, but I'm trying to work on being able to box/kick and not suck.
Does any CPU guy ever actually throw punches? Or are they always just looking for clinches or takedowns?
I never really had a problem with UFC, but I just can't seem to get anything to click here with regards to standup...it's weird, i'm sure I'm just missing something....Last edited by mgoblue; 11-08-2010, 12:41 AM.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment
