How about fixing online disconnects? I mean I just sat here for 45 minutes in the wee hours of the morning so that I could get dropped from the EA Servers heading in to the 4th quarter. How was this product even allowed to hit the shelves!?

Re: Madden Developer Podcast
Nice to see you guys reaching out to the community. And cheer's for putting Matt Stafford on the first post.
I wouldn't mind hearing about the development of some of the current features, or maybe the presentation. I think you guys did a great job with that this year, and I hope to see that continue.Comment

Re: Madden Developer Podcast
Good initial podcast.
Especially the insight into why it's difficult to get bigger rosters and fix IR and stuff.
Promising to hear Ian talk about working on the fundamental modes as well, assuming that means Superstar and offline Franchise mode
Can't wait til the next one, how often do you guys plan on doing a podcast?
Ian's tweet: "pretty regularly...not weekly but consistent. We should get it hooked up with iTunes soon."Last edited by at23steelers; 11-06-2010, 08:22 AM.Have an awesome day!!Comment

Re: Madden Developer Podcast
Phil,
Nice job. Thanks for keeping us informed.
I'll let the other hardcore gamers comment on the gameflow and franchise improvements required, but I'd like it if you guys could address one area of the game that I know is very tempting for you to delve into, but full of obstacles.
If you look at this thread, there are over 13,000 hits ---> http://www.operationsports.com/forum...oster-set.html
It deals with classic teams and players. Already I know you are about to click to the next page! LOL. However, can your team give some thought on how it would make it easier for the gamers to edit rosters to get these classic players and/or teams into the game? Your team would not have to even offer any teams or players...all we need is a more "open" editor that allows for full current team editing (so we don't have to create thousands of classic players from scratch). That's really all that is required.
Icing o the cake would be more classic uniforms as offered in past Madden games, and maybe the ability to change team names (ie: '85 Bears rather than Chicago Bears).
It's a long shot, I know. But there are ways to give the community a way to do this themselves without exposing your company to any lawsuits by former players or ruffling the NFL's feathers.
I'd love to hear a discussion about that on an upcoming podcast.
Thanks for listening.

Its my opinion that marketing has been a big fat albatross around the neck of EA's football and basketball development teams.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: Madden Developer Podcast
That's very unfortunate. In my Utopian dream world, marketing would be 100% answerable to the design and/or gameplay team with zero imput on new features or modes.

Re: Madden Developer Podcast
And how is that relevant to the discussion? It's apples and oranges because they are different companies with a difference in a number of employees.
We don't know the organizational charts of either company.Comment

Re: Madden Developer Podcast
I can't seem to get the link to work. It just says 410 GONE or something like that.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Madden Developer Podcast
I totally agree with you.
I don't know why they waste money on marketing there the only NFL Game in town. Why do you need to market that.Somebody should ask EA that.(if you like the NFL you'll buy the game.If you don't like the NFL you wont buy the game.)Last edited by lofeazy; 11-06-2010, 08:09 PM.Comment

Re: Madden Developer Podcast
In no way I support having the marketing team help choose the features. But in marketing it's not all about selling the product, it's also about who they are selling it to, and which features will cater to that group of people. I guess last year, they felt the need to cater to new fans, and this year hopefully back to the hardcore fans.Last edited by at23steelers; 11-07-2010, 12:01 AM.Have an awesome day!!Comment
