    Dynasty League Baseball Online Overview

Sometimes a media experience encourages you to seek out other versions of that specific title. For instance, I powered through the J.R.R. Tolkien novels after seeing the first Lord of the Rings movie. A hit single might entice you to buy the whole album. Even a sports video game might turn you on towards the real-life version of that sport.

So, in just about all cases, this is a good sign: your first experience is a positive one, so you seek out more like it. Dynasty League Baseball Online is a perfect example of this phenomenon.

This was a great game with the dice and so nice to see it on-line now. Mike C and the crew have hit a home run!

Eventually you will be able to have a franchise. Right now it is basically set up for Greatest team tournaments (they have a number of them each day that you can sign up for). Or you can play solo against the computer anytime you like

Re: Dynasty League Baseball Online Overview

I signed up during the series...took the Rangers and was beat by SF in 6. I really enjoyed this game.....but the final $ tag is a bit high for 6 months. If it was a one time price..maybe I could see this, but can see myself paying this much.

Other than that....this is the best I have played...and I think I have played them all.

No leagues yet? I fail to see how this even compares to OOTP, which is so customizable that you can create pretty much any league you can imagine, or simply jump right in and play the 2010 MLB season.

One very important feature not emphasized in the Overview is that DYNASTY League Baseball Online is the first and only Baseball simulation that allows you to play in multi-player bracket tournaments and leagues that have brackets, stats and standings updated in real time. This is only possible because the game runs entirely in your Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari (Apple Mac) browser.

It totally eliminates having to export and import files which now seems totally "stone age" kind of stuff. It also makes connecting with an opponent amazingly easy. There are no IP addresses, firewall settings or third party software to deal with you just click the" join" button.

Multi-player Greatest Team bracket tournaments are currently available and are a must to try out for the sheer thrill of the experience.

Greatest Teams leagues are coming later this fall and continuous Draft leagues will be available Spring of 2011 with live draft rooms.

Re: Dynasty League Baseball Online Overview

I just tried connecting from work during my lunch break, and it seems to timeout at the "Connecting to Game Server" screen, which I can only imagine is a Corporate firewall issue.

Shame, because I could really see myself playing a few games at lunch, but doubt it will get much time when I'm at home.

The price tag for this is....well, yikes. No thanks.

If you can't get through a corporate firewall, you can email support@DesignDepot.com if you would like the port number so that you can ask your local IT department to open the port.

Re: Dynasty League Baseball Online Overview

To me, the price is somewhat reasonable. Keep in mind, you get their whole library of seasons to use. Normally, in these types of ventures, they charge $19-$29 to own a single season.

This model really works well for me. I like playing tournaments/games from a lot of different seasons, but probably don't get enough value out of buying one single season. Now I can pick and choose what I want to play.

But as I mentioned earlier, the firewall issue is a bummer. I really have no other internet type issues like this at work either.

Thanks for the offer Mike, but unfortunately I don't think I can e-mail my IT department with a "Hey, can you open up a port so I can play a game at work" type e-mail.

As I mentioned earlier, I really don't have any issues with any other internet apps at work. I wonder why I'm having problems with this.

Make sure you have the Microsoft Silverlight browser plug-in installed. You can also try a different browser. There is a small chance there might be an issue with a missing player rating in one of the teams you selected in "Series". You can delete the "Series" you created and then try two different teams. If none of that works, then yes it looks like the corporate firewall is blocking the game server port and it needs to be opened.

I just upgraded the Silverlight plugin, restarted my browser, changed to the current WS teams, and tried to re-start without success.

Looks like a great product, best of luck guys.
