Don't know if you're being sarcastic or not, but the game puts too much stock into prospects. Needless to say the trade logic is screwy in the game, as with the rest of cpu roster management.

I'm pretty sure he wasn't being sarcastic. He posted this to show how stupid Toronto was by trading for Phil Kessel, and how the game logic knows that the trade was idiotic.

Hindsight is 20/20. No one thought that 1st round pick was going to be 2nd overall.

Unfortunately, I thought this would be the only hockey forum I'm on where I don't have to endure Leafs bashing. I guess I was wrong...

It's the Leafs. The picks are pretty much guaranteed to be Top 5.

Sorry, mate however the Leafs are not likely to live down that trade any time soon. Granted, if Toronto can pull into a contender spot or at least manage to finish 20th or higher in the overall standing. This trade will not appear so awful. If it is another top five pick, this will remain one of the worst trades in recent memory.

i cant really wait until the leafs finish 29th again this year and the B's get the #1 or #2 pick next year as well.

I am not sure what point OP was making, but this does support some decent trade logic in NHL 11 in my opinion. Sure, bad trades are made in NHL 11, just as in real life, but overall, the trade logic does not seem terrible (yeah, a bit too much value placed on prospects, but, in a salary cap era, I can live with that).

One 1st round pick would have been enough for Phil Kessel IMO. Brian Burke is an idiot.

First of all at the time Bruins couldn't afford to resign Kessel, they were tight on salary cap. Kessel was not considered to be a very good teammate or teamplayer in Boston, i dont think there was too much of an attempt to resign him.

So then they manage to dump him to division rival Leafs for first- and second-round pick in the 2010 draft, plus a first-round pick in the 2011 draft. LOL

One of those 1st round picks would have been enough. And Brian Burke himself has said that Leafs are rebuilding, I would have started that rebuilding with Seguin instead of Kessel...

Considering the direction this has gone, we don't need to re-hash this old topic in the EA NHL forum. If you'd really like to talk about it more, there was an old thread on it in the Pro Hockey forum.
