Do you guys think the curl and double screen plays are cheating?

I'm playing on Pro with defensive awareness at 100, help defense at 100, and on ball defense at 25 (for the CPU). Anyway, I'm doing a season with the clippers and they have a few double screen plays for Eric Gordon. I swear, I can call this play at will and he is open out on the wing almost every single time. I thought the developers said the CPU would adjust to play calling, but he can get open quite easily. It also makes me think of the Ray Allen curl plays. Those are deadly.

So, what you guys think? Am I "cheesing", or am I using my strengths? Let me know. thanks!

not cheating if you dont make the shot correct? playing on pro also is a reason why the cpu isnt stopping that play regardless of your slider adjustments. on HOF they would close that down after a few tries

I played on All-Star before my C's 'chise died. Had both Danny Granger and Ray Allen and would run both on curls - around the second quarter, computer would start picking off passes on that play because I ran it a lot.

They adjust it could just be you're playing on pro?

Ok, well, I just took your guy's advice and I must say i'm terribly confused, lol. They still aren't doing anything on this play.

I played as the Clippers once again, turned it to hall of fame, and even did the simulation sliders. I ran the same play for Eric Gordon (12 Cross) every play for 2 1/2 quarters. He sets up on the block, runs his defender a little towards the wing, and then comes back towards the baseline off a double screen on the other wing. He had 51 points, 20-45 shooting, and 11-19 on threes. I honestly don't know what to think, because I hate the thought of knowing I can just use this for an easy bucket.

Could someone just try this out as well, because I hear "the CPU adjusts" or "they start picking off passes". They are not, lol.

Anyone have any thoughts? I was so excited when "Da Czar" videos came out saying the CPU will adjust, however I haven't really experienced them adjusting to plays. Thanks in advance!

BTW, I even put defensive awareness and help D at 100. THanks

Actually help D at 100 is worse it means you need more help D. I read a couple threads about this and I decided to give it a try. Help D at 0 actually means you don't have to give a lot of help. Try it for the CPU and user and watch what happens. Your CPU teammates do a better job of rotation for help

I'm not sure if I understand you, or better yet, if you understand what I'm trying to accomplish. I'm trying to have the CPU do a better job of defending the play that I'm calling. I understand that putting 0 for help defense means you don't need a lot of help, so why would I put it at 0? I put it at 100 for the CPU so they "request" a lot of help D. I'm not the one playing defense. I'm on offense picking apart the CPU with one play: 12 Cross with Baron Davis at the point and Eric Gordon as the shooting guard.

I have noticed that play is money (i'm playing with the Clippers too btw) as well.

It wouldn't bother me if the cpu would run more diverse play sets but I prefer to leave cpu play calling on and it runs that play a LOT. I guess i'll just have to start running my own plays and not abuse that one but yeah it does suck if you know you can use it to score nearly every time down the floor if you need a clutch basket.

THANK YOU!!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing it. It bothers me because the developers promised this "Don't expect to run the same play over and over because the CPU will adjust". Lol, please. Eric Gordon has, at times, at least 3 seconds to wait for the defender to close out before he takes the shot. It's just so disappointing because it could be so easy for them to adjust--go over the screen instead of under it, have them switch defenders, double team once the pass is made and rotate. 2K has guys who can program this stuff in, so I don't understand how this, out of the many things in a bball game, get overlooked.

Run it again on HOF/sim, no slider adjustments. Make everything sim standard.

See if you get different results.
You shouldn't worry about what others think of you, because if you knew how little they did, you would be insulted.

Also I found it makes a huge difference what team you are playing against. try to run this against a team with excellent defenders in the backcourt and I daresay it won't be that easy.

I use the C's in Association, and i run the double screen a lot for Allen. He gets open all the time against crap teams, but when we face good defensive teams, he gets closed out and sometimes the AI start to read the play and cause contact in the paint which leads to the failing of the play.

I would raise on ball D up, just my preference thou i know a lot of people are lowering it. Try raising the contest shot slider up and see if that helps. I have times where my guys get a perfectly open shot but other times it is contested. I have bump contest shots up some just to see if i can get more mid to long range shooting fouls because there are not enough with this game.
