(wonders if Peter Moore ex 360 honcho but now head of EA Sports has anything to with that)

So they have RUF which are modified Porsche, like Callaway is to Corvettes and Saleen is to Mustang.
Every time Porsche is mentioned in relation to GT5 the first thing mentioned is RUF and how "everything will be alright cause we'll have RUF" well here's the RUF content:
    <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr><td>
    </td><td>RUF 3400S '00
    </td></tr><tr><td>
    </td><td>RUF BTR '86
    </td></tr><tr><td>
    </td><td>RUF CTR2 '96
    </td></tr><tr><td>
    </td><td>RUF CTR "Yellow Bird" '87
    </td></tr><tr><td>
    </td><td>RUF RGT '00
    </td></tr></tbody></table>
Mind you NONE of them have cockpit view and the latest one is over 10 years old. So we get a ten year old hack job of a Porsche that we have to drive as if we were the emblem on the hood.

Then we get to the tracks...

    No Sebring
    No Road America
    No Road Atlanta
    No Mid-Ohio
No Limerock to name a few.

You'd think America didn't exist with this. So much for trying to recreate the American LeMans Series.

Then it's been said that weather would be on all tracks now come to find out only on a few select tracks, same with night so it seems.

It may not be a "NASCAR focused" game but there IS particular focus on NASCAR by the trademarked logo they've been splashing all over the place as well as WRC which they've been a little less willing to flaunt. But dude they HAVE been flaunting NASCAR big time with this game. Talking about having all the rules, a video with the head guy going to a NASCAR event and talking with the drivers, etc.

I wouldn't worry too much about lack of cockpit views. I'm sure they will be available, just not exact... you may have cases where in an '08 and dash is actually representative of an '05.

Case in point, the 1st gameplay video of the Mazda Miata. You can clearly see the dash view. Looking at the list, all the Miatas are "standard" cars.

As for the car list, I like it, but Polyphony really dropped the ball with the entry level cars in my opinion, as well as a few that I was hoping for. I sure would've liked to see:

          Dodge Caliber SRT4 '06
          Dodge Charger '06
          Dodge Neon '00
          Dodge SRT-4
          Ford Fiesta '08
          Honda Fit Sport '09
          Hyundai Genesis Coupe '08
          Mazda Mazda2 '07
          Nissan Pulsar GTI-R '94
          Nissan Pulsar '05
Nissan Tiida '04 (Versa SL for NA)
          Scion tC '04
I'm also disappointed about not having:
2011 Ford Mustang GT (412hp w/better handling vs the '05 GT with 300hp)
          2011 Ford Mustang 500 (570hp)

          And from your list.
          '08 Hyundai Genesis Coupe
          '06 Dodge Charger SRT

This may seem nerdy, but I can't wait to try out the test track, timing cars and such. I love crunching all of these numbers that you can get. It's gonna be awesome

                  What video?

The few that managed to get their hands on the game early have reconfirmed that there's no interiors or cockpit view for standard cars. These are ported over from GT4, lack the deformation and dislodging of body panels, and low/high beam headlights of the premium cars.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 Official Car and Track List

Some of you guys might like fooling yourself into thinking this is great but both lists are pretty disappointing. The track list is embarrassing for a game this size and cockpit views for only 20% of the total cars is pathetic. They hang thier hat on this simulation aspect but 80% of the cars only allow you arcade views of driving. That's a game killer in my book and I can't see how it isn't for anyone else.

What the hell did they spend 6 years doing with this game. What a joke. they won't be getting my money because I can guarantee online will be a joke like it is for every other sports game so with all these track and car limitations this game will get boring quick. I don't have time to dick around with a track editor, just give me some new tracks. I'll wait 6 months and get it for $25 (something tells me there will be a ****load of used copies around) used if there aren't any bugs which is highly unlikely.

I don't really think you understand how time consuming it is to rebuild from the ground up to the caliber it is? Did you read the review? The guy said the game physics and graphics were both superb.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 Official Car and Track List

I don't think anybody is questioning how time consuming it is to model these cars and tracks. Forza 3 had 2 years of development, but had 200 contractors around the world just modeling cars. PD doesn't outsource anything.

I'm in agreement that the lists are disappointing, especially the cars. Its got the "wow factor" with it being 1,000+, but just 6 models make up 150 cars. Why does there need to be 50 Skylines? Like I said, I would much rather have a trimmed down roster to 300-500 cars if it meant all had interiors and cockpit views. The whole standard vs. premium thing is really odd, and it makes the standard cars for me even more disappointing because GT doesn't have a proper hood cam. It's not a deal breaker for me though, just disappointing.

Amen brother. I'm not knocking it out just yet but the hype machine went into overdrive with this puppy. This is the only game that beats Madden when it comes to hype.

See now this I don't understand, people (well we know which people) were touting Prologue as physics from god, then we find out the physics for this game was "rebuilt from the ground up". Why on earth would you rebuild perfection from the ground up, makes no sense. You rebuild something when you know you really didn't build it right to begin with.

How about we all wait until the game is out before we start criticizing it. Seriously, all of the people in this thread that are criticizing people for overhyping this game to a fault are doing exactly the opposite, to a fault. I will not be passing judgment on this game until it is in my hands, and I would hope others do the same.

That's definitely an impressive list of cars although it seems heavily bloated by slight model variations and model years.

But doesn't the track list seem underwhelming?? Where are the tracks? are they all going to be DLC?

Based on the car list I would have hoped to see some more of the touring car tracks like Donington, Brands Hatch or maybe even Mondello Park.

Also there is very little from the world of F1, maybe Silverstone or Spa...need some space to stretch out the legs of some of those cars properly. Personally I was hoping for the Singapore street circuit

I'm also a little surprised they didn't include somewhere like a Button Willow or maybe even Willow Springs...With all the configurations it is a great environment to shake down a car.

I think there are tracks that are locked and need to be unlocked, also there is a race track creation tool, which is very simple to use from what I read.
