NHL 12 should have a new player type :)

There should be a Douche player type for guys like Avery who are cheap dirty losers who will hit you when you aren't looking and then run away when challenged.

If you high stick them in the face or fight them or do anything dirty to them you get a temporary ratings boost during the game.

Ever see what some of what these guys do and just wish someone would clean their clock but it never happens? In NHL 12 you could happily give these guys was they deserve

It's cool when ladislav smid posts here.

But I do agree all jokes aside.

They also need to have an attribute that is the dive attribute. This would determine how often a player would "dive" to get a penalty. Then we could get some more penalties to balance out the obviously bad penalty calls.

According to Colin Campbell, Marc Savard would deserve a 100 in this category.

OS should have an "ignorant poster" type for people who post about things they obviously didn't see.
Smid got exactly what he asked for.
        Avery's knuckle hair = Smid's dental floss.

What about "subjective homer poster". Are you kidding? Micheletti even called Avery on it. He's a d bag and you know it.

I will say this....As a Detroit Red Wings fan, I think they DO need to add a new player type. I don't know what they should call it, but they need to add a player type for the players like Holmstrom (and Ryan Smyth) who are GREAT at standing in front of the net, screening the goalie, and deflecting the puck. Holmstrom is easily the best at this in the NHL, and Smyth is a very close second.

They can call it the "*** in your face" type player.

You're right about one thing, it was Smids fault.

You don't ask a guy like Avery if he wants to fight. You just drop the gloves and start swinging whether he sees you coming or not. You know that Avery is a POS and isn't about to be concerned about any other players safety so there's no need to be concerned about his. According to the reaction of the NHL this type of conduct isn't even frowned upon.

Oh and I saw it and anyone defending what Avery did (even his own teammates have spoken out that it was dirty) is obviously the ignorant one.

Isn't that what a power forward (PWF) is in the game?

As for the Avery comments...Really guys? For every phantom call he gets, Cindy Crosby gets away with one. Avery is good at what he does, he makes people uncomfortable and as much as other teams hate it they wish they had someone like him to get under other people's skin.

People give him crap but he is a team player and think everyone in the locker room, except Christensen (haha) would stick up for him. I'm not ashamed to admit that I really like the guy and I love how he plays. While the NHL is dominated by prima donna like Crosby, Ovechkin and Kovalchuk, it is nice to see a gritty, dirty player like the old days...

Avery is my favorite Ranger. There I said it. I love his game, and I don't buy into all the B.S he gets about being a horrible person. Anyone who watches Rangers games knows that Avery's reputation precedes him and he gets hosed by the refs on a lot of calls. What he did to Smid wasn't a cheap shot by my standards. Smid saw him coming at him and tried to move out of the way of the punch, but wasn't quick enough. If Avery had blindsided him and swing at him when Smid wasn't looking, then that'd be a different story.

Smid couldn't get ready in time for the first shot because Avery waited until he wasn't looking to drop his gloves. If you look at the replay Smid challenges Avery and when Avery doesn't drop his gloves and the seconds pass you see Smid start to look to see whats happeneing on the ice. Smid glances at the play and back at Avery a few times and Avery times it so that he drop his gloves when Smid is looking at the play. Because Smid is glancing back and forth he sees Avery after his gloves are off and quickly tries to get his off and get ready. Avery is able to move in and deck Smid before has time to get his gloves off and get his hands up and be able to defend himself. Was Smid looking at Avery when Avery punched him? Yes Was Smid ready to fight? No, Avery made sure he got the jump on Smid which is what makes it cheap.

Really, as reported by Bob Mackenzie, when Avery was in the hospital with his spleen I think it was, not one Ranger teamate came to see him. hahaha.......team player my butt.

Then Smid should not challenge someone and then act surprised when he gets clocked in the face, no matter who did it. He should have been ready for whatever he was asking for.
He was the aggressor in the whole thing.
The funniest part was the hit that started the whole thing was a clean legal hit.

I agree, Smid have been ready for Avery to a throw a shot at him when he turned away. It's not like its unexpected from him. Next time just wait until Avery isn't looking at you and come up from behind him and knock him out. Oh wait, that's supposed to be bad since the whole Bertuzzi thing.

OK, Avery's antics are somewhat wacky (see vs. Brodeur in the playoffs) but he's never done anything close to what Bertuzzi did.
That's the definition of a sucker punch.
