Re: Madden NFL Designers Podcast #2
After listening to this podcast I'm completely convinced Madden will never be the game I'm looking for as long as these are the people working on it. The most successful sports titles this gen are shooting to be the absolute best sim possible. While it seems these guys are going in with the idea that a complete sim wouldn't be "fun enough". Madden will continue to be a complete joke.Comment

I did find it interesting that they lauded NBA 2K, then went on to almost dismiss creating a football sim of the same caliber. After listening to this podcast I'm completely convinced Madden will never be the game I'm looking for as long as these are the people working on it. I thought this Madden team's mantra was to create the ultimate sim, so NBA 2K should be the standard rather than an unreachable goal.Twitter: @Palo50

Again...no talk of special teams. Such a huge part of football and completely ignored in Madden.Comment

Re: Madden NFL Designers Podcast #2
I heard some things in this podcast that I liked, but that bit did bother me. I thought I was just being a bit paranoid, reading too much into it, but I guess not. Donny at one point refered to NBA 2k as "a simulation game to the nth degree", as if to imply that the 2k development team is out there in some strange virgin territory that isn't even a thought for Madden.
They also talked about how Elite was trying to find a balance between sim that's dialed back to make it more accessible, which seems to be the mantra and the problem with Madden."A man can only be beaten in two ways: if he gives up, or if he dies."Comment

Re: Madden NFL Designers Podcast #2
This, + 1000.To play devils advocate, we hear this same song and dance every year and look where we are at today.
The EA devs have lost all credibility with their podcasts, tweets, interviews etc in light of the difference in what they say, and what is on the shelves the next year.
The time for talk is over, its time to translate words into action.Comment

guys,
don't get sucked in. these jokers pull this crap every year. it's the same song and dance.they see how sales have slipped. corporate probably has them doing damage control. them giving the hardcore the casual "finger" this year was the last straw. Madden will never see another dime from me--not one. News Flash: they're " selling" you right now...if you're a fan of real football. Re: Madden NFL Designers Podcast #2
Interesting. I am glad they touched on users customizing the game.
Most people may not want long games, real penalties.....
But I do.
Don't care how the game ships. Just give us the resources to customize the game as we want it.Comment

Re: Madden NFL Designers Podcast #2
LOL, we've been trying to do that for over five years; it's not working. The devs know what want. They only thing that will get them to, or get the suits to let them, address our concerns is to speak with our wallets.
We don't need to have as many penalties that an average NFL game has; they can just give us the correct percentage of penalties.Last edited by LiquorLogic; 11-20-2010, 05:45 PM.Comment

You just took the words out of my mouth regarding the RE. CPU QB damn near always moves towards the RE when trying to escape. RE is always closer to the QB, thats why he seems to be more effective. I second the bit about the RB keying on a particular side also.Future Maddens.
I would say that its for multiple reasons. The CPU QB almost always moves to the right to buy time or try to escape. Also, when a back stays in to block, it seems like most of the time the default first read is to the left side of the offensive line when the RE is coming from. So he gets chipped a whole lot more then the LE.Comment

Re: Madden NFL Designers Podcast #2
I know this has been said, but it needs to be said over and over apparently. If the Madden team would just listen to us, we can turn this thing around. There isn't a community out there that has more football knowledge than right here.
Madden 09 was terrible. Ian and co. listened to us and Madden 10 was a huge improvement. Thats still not saying to much, but it was a marked improvement. Then EA decided they were gonna pull their devs away from us and look what we got in Madden 11. A marginal improvement at best, and some would say a step back.
I just don't get how they feel that people don't want a deep sim game. The proof is in the pudding.Comment

Re: Madden NFL Designers Podcast #2
I can see it now:
"We asked for a revamped franchise mode, and we got 'design the cheerleaders' uniforms'."
Seriously, dude, we've been telling them what we want since the next-gen jump. It hasn't quite worked out yet.....Comment

Re: Madden NFL Designers Podcast #2
I think the problem with the Madden devs at the moment is that they aren't really sim gamers. When they talked about 2k11 they were like "oh man this so sim, it's waaay to complicated for me" and so they come to the conclusion that the constumers are also too dumb to enjoy a sim game.
As long as the current devs aren't really big football fans (and they don't seem to be) we will never see a true sim Madden. Because only a real football fan can appreciate a real sim football game.Comment
