From an EA suits perspective, dumbing down Madden's offline franchise to amp up Head Coach is completely understandable. From a player perspective it's completely ****ed. If they continued with NFL and Head Coach now, I could understand why NFL's offline franchise would be so bad. But with no Head Coach, there's no reason to exclude its features in NFL, other than the notion they might continue with Head Coach at some point in the future.
Hey ho. It's sad to say that only by losing their exclusivity will EA put in any effort to make a compelling football game. They've definitely saved money through the lack of effort, but they haven't saved their reputation from sliding down the toilet.
