Re: The Career of Bryan Dodge (NCAA11)

Good Evening and Welcome to another edition of ESPN "THE OCHO". Tonight's focus is Weeks 12-15 of College Football. As the season comes to a close, we are getting closer and closer to who will be crowned this year's National Champs. It looks like it could be a battle was 5 Teams go into the Final Week with a perfect record. Before I get to the Conference Championship matchups let's take a look back at what has happend around the league.

Obviously Ohio State beating #2 Michigan in Week 12 was a huge one. Not only did it knock the Wolverines out of the running for a National Title, but it was OSU first win over Michigan in 3 years and won them the Big Ten Crown as both teams finish 7-1.

(Note Minnisota finished 4-8 but only 1-7 in the Big Ten)

Cincinnati wins the Big East going 7-0 with their 24-23 win over West Virginia proving that even without Chip Kelly they can still win. The Bearcats finished the year Ranked #18 in the BCS with a 11-1 record.

(Noted WVU finished 9-2 Overall but 5-2 in the Big East (lost also to Louisville), well Pitt finished 9-3 Overall but just 4-3 in the Big East.)

It will be #4 Virginia Tech vs #15 Florida State for the ACC Championship game. The Hokies finished the year 12-0, well the Noles finished 11-1 (losing only to #10 Miami)

The Big 12 Championship game could decide Washington State's fate in in the hunt for a spot in the BCS Championship game. Both #3 Oklahoma (12-0) and #5 Texas (12-0) are looking to make a statement as they take on each other after failing to meet during the regular season.

(TCU will be left wondering what if, as they finish 9-3 Overall (They lost to NC State and Auburn in OT) and 7-1 in Conference play only losing to Texas 42-6.

Missouri continues to show they are a big fish in the little sea playing in CUSA, as they go a perfect 9-0 to finish the year 12-1 (lost 47-28 to Hawaii). The Tigers will play UAB (9-4, 6-3) in the Championship game. The Tigers need a win as they currently sit #16 in the BCS Poll.

It will be Western Michigan (9-3) vs Kent State (8-4) for the MAC Championship. WMU finished with the best Conference record going 7-1 with their only loss to instate rival CMU 16-3. (they also lost non-conference games to Pitt and WVU)

Boise State got back to it's winning ways going a perfect 8-0 to win their 3rd MWC title in 5 years and finished the year ranked #15 in the BCS with a 11-1 record (only lost to Washington State). For their efforts the Broncos are currently slated to take on Florida in the Sugar Bowl.

Troy wins the Sun Belt going 7-1 and 8-4 Overall. Western Kentucky struggles finishing 3-8 Overall and 3-5 in Conference.

BYU wins their 4th WAC title in 5 years taking over for BSU who they swapped with. The Cougars finish the year tied with Hawaii with a 7-1 Conference record but their 24-21 win in head to head matchup gives them the crown. BYU however struggled outside the conference after starting the year in the Top-25, the Cougars went 0-4 in non-conference play to finish a disappointing 7-5.

Alabama rode a perfect 8-0 record to win the SEC West and a perfect 12-0 record (they beat 3 FCS Schools) to finish the year #1 in all 3 Polls. Standing in their way to a BCS Championship spot will be #9 Georgia (11-1) whose 35-31 win over Florida (the Gators only loss as they finish 11-1) gives the the SEC East spot.

(Arkansas finished the year 2-6 in the SEC and 6-6 Overall)

WASHINGTON STATE WINS THE PAC-10 CHAMPIONSHIP

Coach Dodge has bought back greatness to the Palouse as the Cougars win their first Pac-10 Championship since 2002. WSU also finishes the year Ranked #2 in all 3 Polls (Coaches,Media,BCS) and unless Oklahoma can leap frog them into the spot in the BCS Championship game will have a chance to play for a National Title. It will be their 2nd time every making it to the game, as they defeated Brown back in 1915.

RECAP OF THE COUGERS FINAL 3 GAMES

VS

The Bruins almost spoiled the dream as they came back from trailing 28-3 at the half to tie the game and force OT!!!. However a career day from D. Williams (23 carries 239 yds) sealed the deal for the Cougars as R. Parrish kicks a 32 yd FG to win the game 30-27!!!

vs

The Huskies wanted nothing more then to knock off WSU and ruin their chance as the Cougars dealt that blow just 2 years ago with UW was ranked #6 in the Nation.

WSU would take a huge lead going up 28-14 in the 1st half, but Washington would battle back as RB D. Cooper had a career day rushing 24 times for 229 yds (9.5 Avg) and 3 TD's. WSU wouldn't give up though and with 48 seconds to play C. Halliday would find Marquess Wilson for his 10th catch of the day and 2nd TD as the Cougars pull out the victory 49-42 giving Coach Dodge his 4th straight Apple Cup win.

C. Halliday- 17/26 380 yds 3 TD
R. Williams-30 carries 147 yds 3 TD
M. Wilson-10 rec 224 yds 2 TD

vs

For the 4th straight year these 2 Rivals met, and for the 4th straight year it was Idaho making the Loser's Walk 8 miles back to campus as the Cougars win 31-10

D. Williams has his 4th straight 100 yd game with 26 carries for 121 yds and 2 TD.

Coach Dodge comments "I am excited to be able to bring home a Pac-10 Title. Now I just hope that the Polls will show we did our part beating 6 Top-25 teams. Obviously it helps going 8-0 on National TV."
