    SEMESTER'S FIRST TEST!!
#5 UL MONROE WARHAWKS TRAVEL TO HAPPY VALLEY TO TAKE ON #3 NITTANY LIONS FROM PENN STATE

    UNIVERSITY PARK---
It was evident the magnitude of this game and atmosphere of Beaver Stadium as Warhawks players took it all in at there Friday walk-thru.
"This is what it is about, big time college football on a grand stage" Said Senior quarterback Jerry Jordan for the Warhawks. " You can feel it, I cant wait"
If the Warhawks expect to compete they'll need another performance like the one they got last week. They beat Georgia Tech up and down the field for a 45-7 victory.
" I stressed to my team after the walk-thru that Penn State will be a better football team. Not only do they have to worry about the team but they have to contend with this boisterous crowd of 100 plus thousand" said Warhawk coach Eddie Polly. "We have to be discipline and play mistake free to have a chance"
#3 Penn State is coming off an 11-1 season that saw them just 7 points away from making the national championship as they lost a heartbreaker to Ohio State last season 21-14. This year they start a new quarterback #17 Nic Stanley, Stanley was the season long back up last season but when he did play he was efficient throwing for 500 yards 4 touchdowns and a 68 completion percentage. Defensively the Nittany Lions return there whole defense including captain Strong Safety Jonathon Noble who led the team with 77 total tackles last season along with 4 interceptions a 2 forced fumbles.
" We're facing a good team tomorrow" Noble stated "but if we play like I know we can and get pressure on there quarterback we should be fine.
This game will bring together two very successful coaches this past decade in coach Eddie Polly and Penn State coach Joe Paterno

Eddie Polly-- 118 wins 5 losses
Joe Paterno- 98 wins 19 losses

Not like that's a big deal against a team like EMU, but from the way the game played out in the first half I thought the game was a lost cause. I remain undefeated in conference play heading to Northern Illinois in week 11. I suspect a tougher game from NIU.

Lost the NIU game in a horrible way...first loss in the MAC, but still atop the West division so things look good for me making my way into the conference title game. I've got 1-9 Bowling Green and 5-6 Central Michigan, both at home to finish the season. As long as I win one of the two I'll be in the MAC championship game, against most likely Temple who is 9-1 and 6-0 in conference play. I guess we'll have to wait and see how it all unfolds...

It's cool to read about someone else doing a MAC team, I've been on Central Mich for a few years, keep losing 1 key game a year, I try to schedule an FCS team and a couple top 25 opponents non conference but I'm thinking of scrapping the FCS team next year to help my SOS.

Yeah, the MAC is a fun conference to play in for sure and for some reason I've always had great games when I played MAC teams, so I thought a dynasty would be cool. I'm definitely planning on making my schedule tougher next year, like you I want to help my SOS.

              GAMEDAY FROM TUSCALOOSA!!

              TOP 10 TEAMS COLLIDE
HOME-FIELD IS KEY TO #4 ALABAMA'S CHANCES THIS WEEK AGAINST DEFENDING CHAMPS #3 UL MONROE.

              #3 UL MONROE WARHAWKS (2-0) @ #4 ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE (1-0, 1-0)

Chris Fowler-- Its early in the season and already we have National Championship type games. Today the Warhawks from UL Monroe travel here to play the Tide from Bama. Intriguing story lines for this game like the top two coaches this past decade meet. Will Warhawk quarterback Jerry Jones bounce back from a 3 interception game that almost saw his team lose. Ill hand these discussions over to Kirk and Corso.

Lee Corso-- First things first this a huge game, but no two people are more worthy of recognition for these programs success than these two coaches. They are 1 and 2 atop the winning-est coaches this decade lets reveiw there career.

              NICK SABAN
              record- 116-11
              winning seasons 9
              longest win streak- 33
              conf titles- 7
              record vs top 25- 40-9
              national titles-1

              EDDIE POLLY
              record- 119-5
              winning seasons 9
              longest win streak- 64
              conf titles- 8
              record vs top 25- 41-3
              national titles- 4

Lee Corso- As you see these guys can coach and we should expect a hard nose championship like tilt when they play at 1pm est.

Kirk Herbstriet-- Your right Lee these guys can coach. Lets preview these teams with the visitor first. UL Monroe comes into the game with a very fast and athletic defense led by OLB #44 Keith West, he will be key to slowing down this tide rushing attack. All American corner #6 Eric Schmidt will have the task of trying to cover NCAA 100m champ #85 Craig Odom (99 speed) his 6'6 frame looks to be problems but Schmidt by many of his peers is considered one of the top corners in the country so this will be a great match up to watch. Offensively the Warhawks struggled last week against Penn State and that crowd. Although quarterback Jerry Jones threw for a career high 393 yards he also threw 3 Interceptions and no touchdowns. That was the first time a Warhawk quarterback has not thrown a TD in a game in 5 years. They will need him to focus and play like we know he can.

On to the Tide, they're riding a 30 game home win streak, its the third longest in the nation, they also have the #2 ranked toughest place to play according to EA Sports. Add that with a solid defense led by there duo at defensive end Derrick Blair (96) and Steven Haynes (98) in last weeks win against Ole Miss the seniors both recorded a sack thanks to the always tough secondary led by FS Chris Fuller. This guy can play and packs a punch as he has 5 career forced fumbles in only his junior year. They will have there hands full with these Warhawk receiver's but a good rush should help out. Offensively the Tide seem to have put together some great receivers for a school that historically has a dominant run game. Leading receiver Chris Summers may be small at 5'9 but works the slot quit well, he had 3 touchdowns last week add that with 6'6 Craig Odom and u have match up problems Jay Scott will also look to help out as he had over 100 yards last week. But its no secret who they're going against this secondary has 4 all americans will be a great game within a game.

              TIME FOR PICKS

KIRK--- THIS WILL BE A GREAT GAME NOT ONLY BECAUSE OF THE TEAMS PLAYING BUT BECAUSE OF MAGNITUDE OF WHAT A LOSS WILL DO EVEN IF ITS EARLY IN THE SEASON. THE GAME IS IN TUSCALOOSA WHERE THE TIDE HAVENT LOST IN 5 SEASONS. I THINK BECAUSE OF THIS WITH THE GREAT DEFENSE THE TIDE HAVE WILL CAUSE STRUGGLING QUARTERBACK JERRY JONES SOME PROBLEMS AND THE TIDE WIN.

LEE CORSO-- I KNEW WE WE'RE CO WORKERS FOR A REASON ROOOOOLLLL TIDE ROOOOOOOLLLLL BAMA WINS THIS EASY"THE CROWD CHEERS AS KIRK LAUGHS WATCHING CORSO PUT THE MASCOT TOP OF THE CRIMSON TIDE ON"

Kicked off 2012 in style against Ohio, in the 'Shoe. Things were looking rough early on until I backed them out of the box with Guiton & Co through the air, then Jamaal Berry went to work on the ground, running 13 times for 103 yards and a TD, and my defense absolutely dominated, shutting them out and only allowing 138 total yards of offense in a 48-0 season opening win. Here's my #2 RB Jordan Hall with my first PR for a TD in NCAA this year, right before the half to extend the lead to 31-0:

                  <img style="visibility:hidden;width:0px;height:0px;" border=0 width=0 height=0 src="http://c.gigcount.com/wildfire/IMP/CXNID=2000002.0NXC/bT*xJmx*PTEyOTIxNDA5MTYwNDcmcHQ9MTI5MjE*MDkyNTEyMS ZwPTk1MDcxJmQ9Jmc9MSZvPWZiNjA*MWNjOWRmOTQ1ZjhiZWI5/ZWRhZjhjYjA3NWRhJm9mPTA=.gif" /><object width="640" height="360"><param name="wmode" value="transparent" valuetype="data" /><param name="movie" value="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/504.4.3/flash/mdMediaPlugin/mediaplayer.swf?file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2011/ncaa11/77152/662A0001_0_FLV_VIDEO_dUB.flv&link=http://www.easports.com/media/play/video/55076507&linkfromdisplay=true&linktarget=_top&imag e=" valuetype="data" /><embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/504.4.3/flash/mdMediaPlugin/mediaplayer.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2011/ncaa11/77152/662A0001_0_FLV_VIDEO_dUB.flv&link=http://www.easports.com/media/play/video/55076507&linkfromdisplay=true&linktarget=_top&imag e="></embed></object><div style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px;"><a href="http://www.easports.com/" target="_top" shape="rect">EA Sports</a>: <a href="http://www.easports.com/media/play/video/55076507" target="_top" shape="rect">NCAA Football 11 Video</a></div>

Next up was a game at #8 Boise State. The whole reason I scheduled this game was because they own the longest home winning streak in the country on the damn smurf turf (69 straight games), and that needs to change, and fast. I checked out their roster beforehand, and they don't really have much left, Kellen Moore is gone as is the majority of the core talent, they've got a couple of impressive lineman and Kirby Moore at WR but other than that they really aren't that good.

Things started off bad, first play from scrimmage for me after I forced a Boise 3 and out was a bubble screen that got deflected and recovered for a fumble as a backwards pass. Boise would miss the FG, and Guiton settled down and marched down the field, finding his TE Stoneburner multiple times, before Jamaal Berry punched it in. I went up 14-0 in the 2nd quarter on a Guiton TD pass, and then Boise made it 14-7 on a long TD pass. I had one helluva an answer though, Jordan Hall returned the ensuing kickoff 94 yards before being brought down at the 6, where I promptly punched it in, and tacked on another before halftime.

The opening kickoff of the 3rd quarter brought this:
                  <img style="visibility:hidden;width:0px;height:0px;" border=0 width=0 height=0 src="http://c.gigcount.com/wildfire/IMP/CXNID=2000002.0NXC/bT*xJmx*PTEyOTIxNDEzMTg5OTkmcHQ9MTI5MjE*MTMyMTU2NS ZwPTk1MDcxJmQ9Jmc9MSZvPWZiNjA*MWNjOWRmOTQ1ZjhiZWI5/ZWRhZjhjYjA3NWRhJm9mPTA=.gif" /><object width="640" height="360"><param name="wmode" value="transparent" valuetype="data" /><param name="movie" value="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/504.4.3/flash/mdMediaPlugin/mediaplayer.swf?file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2011/ncaa11/77152/662A0001_2_FLV_VIDEO_YsV.flv&link=http://www.easports.com/media/play/video/55076645&linkfromdisplay=true&linktarget=_top&imag e=" valuetype="data" /><embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/504.4.3/flash/mdMediaPlugin/mediaplayer.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2011/ncaa11/77152/662A0001_2_FLV_VIDEO_YsV.flv&link=http://www.easports.com/media/play/video/55076645&linkfromdisplay=true&linktarget=_top&imag e="></embed></object><div style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px;"><a href="http://www.easports.com/" target="_top" shape="rect">EA Sports</a>: <a href="http://www.easports.com/media/play/video/55076645" target="_top" shape="rect">NCAA Football 11 Video</a></div>
And from there the game was over. I pretty much ran down the clock, tacked on another TD late when I was trying to run it out after they scored on my 2nd string, and won it 45-14. The streak is over!! And OSU's 23 game home win streak is now the longest in the nation

So far my special teams has been outstanding, with 1 PR for TD, 1 KR for TD, another KR to the 6 yard line, and great field position in general. My defense has been smothering, holding Ohio to 138 total yards and shutting them out, and racking up 18+ hurries, 4 knockdowns, and 3 sacks against Boise State. Berry has been great but the rest of my stable of backs have been inconsistent, and Guiton shows flashes of greatness but is prone to bad throws occasionally. Overall, I've got a great shot to capture a title this year. I've got Cincinnati coming to the 'Shoe next week before #11 Nebraska comes to town for a HUGE showdown.

Some pics of the Boise State game:

Hard loss, but this was sort of expected because of losing Sims

I know, reality is setting in now, but my OLB #44 Keith West was knocked out the game in the first, cheanged my whole defense when that happened. Th Freshmen redshirt that came in for Jordan looked very very good so im gonna see if he can do good against OU!!!

Currently in my second season as the Florida Gators. I'll give everyone a quick update of how my first season went as well as recruiting.

                          First Season:

*To go to SEC Championship game
                          **SEC Championship game
                          ***Suger Bowl

                          FAU W(20-13)
                          USF W(17-10)
                          Tennessee W(27-7)
                          Kentucky W(30-13)
                          Alabama L(10-27)
                          LSU L(30-33)
                          MSU W(22-20)
                          Georgia W(30-13)
                          Vanderbilt W(27-6)
                          South Carolina* W(17-14)
                          App. State (Div II) W(38-3)
                          FSU L(10-45)
                          Auburn** W(35-31)
                          TCU*** L(6-17)

Overall, a mediocre first season. My favorite game of the season was the Miss. State game which came down to a missed FG for MSU. I got straight waxed in the FSU game and turned the ball over 4 times. It was one of the most frustrating games I've played this season. I didn't take TCU seriously at all and came out chucking the ball all over the place only to have numerous 3 and outs. By the time I figured out how to move the ball I was already down a few scores.

Recruiting was definitely solid. I grabbed two 5* (#3 QB, #2 RB), nine 4*, and seven 3*.

                          Second Season:

                          FAU W(55-6)
                          UAB W(48-0)
                          Tennessee W(35-7)

Off to a great start this year. I switched Offenses (went from the FLA playbook to a One Back Offense), put Brantley at full time QB while my backup is the 5* from last year (82 overall). The biggest difference is turnover margin (+7 as opposed to last year's +3). I've move Gillislee into the RB position as my main guy, using Demps and Rainey as utility players. Playing #2 Auburn at Auburn right now, so I will be back with more updates!

Currently in my 3rd season with Virginia Tech ( Heisman, 9 min. qtr. PLAYMAKERS sliders)
Year 1: 9-4, beat Cincy in Bowl Game
Year 2: 12-2, ACC Champs, Orange Bowl Champs (Defeated Stanford). Finished the season ranked #6 in the nation.
Year 3: 1-0 (QB Logan Thomas is a Heisman candidate in his JR Season)
I also need to bring in a lot of talent in this recruiting class as we're losing a lot after this season.

Back from the Auburn game. Thought I would post another update.

                              Summary:

                              #2 Auburn- 17
                              #9 Florida-27

                              Total Offense:
                              391
                              286

                              Team Leaders (Passing):
                              B. Trotter- 233 Yards (24-35), 1 TD, 3 INT
                              J. Brantley- 113 Yards (11-16), 1 TD, 0 INT

                              Team Leaders (Rushing):
                              M. Dyer- 10 Carries, 61 Yards, 1 TD
                              M. Gillislee- 21 Carries, 127 Yards, 1 TD

Grateful to get out of this one alive. I got off to an early 7-0 lead after a pick got returned for 6 (Dee Finley). Their offense was filled with drives that would stall around the 45 yard line. My Defense really held its own against a solid Offense in Auburn (3rd in SEC). They seemed to get impatient fast as I knew early stopping the run would be my biggest issue. Dyer (who is the leading candidate to win the Heisman award in my game) only got 10 carries which simply wasn't enough in the end. He did however still lead the team in receptions (6) and total Touchdowns (2).

I was up 20-3 heading into the 4th Quarter but kicking the ball back to AU, I knew I wasn't in the clear yet. They drove for a quick score after a long Dyer kick return. After a 3 and out, AU once more drove down the field for a quick score with 1:27 to go. After a failed onside kick, a long run from Gillislee sealed the deal to go ahead 27-17.

I have a matchup with #7 Alabama in Gainesville coming up and will post an update after the game.

The past few days I went on a rampage in my dynasty, I played the rest of the regular season, ended up 9-3, 7-1 in the MAC. Going to the conference championship. Check the thread out for game recaps and other stuff.

#1 Alabama fell to #2 Auburn, the Tigers jump to #1 heading into the SEC title game. I was happy to see Bama lose and now I'm hoping to see Auburn go the national championship, where they'll most likely face Boise. Too bad Oregon couldn't hang in there, it'd be sweet if my dynasty actually got the title game right.
                                I'll take 50% right though.
