Re: Joe Mauer Returns Again, Announced as MLB 11 The Show Cover Athlete
Haha, thanks guys. In light of the new information and my own personal need for editing stuff, I changed the script only a little bit. Call it a "revised draft."
Kevin Butler: "Dear Joe Mauer. I noticed you're on the cover of our enshrined baseball franchise video game once again. Anything you might want to say to that?"
Joe Mauer: "Hey there PlayStation, it's good to hear that you finally know who I am now after having five straight .800 OPS seasons. I trust that you got me to play a little more like myself this time?"
Kevin Butler: "Well champ, not only did we help you out but we revamped the entire league as well, capturing over 300 new player-specific animations and facial renderings. Add right stick control for more intuitiveness, and if that's not your game... who needs the controller? I can use the Move to swing just like you!"
Joe Mauer: "Heh heh, I think you're a long ways away from swinging like me there big guy."
Kevin Butler: (slowly puts 3D glasses on) "Au contraire, mi Cabo amigo. I seem to remember things a bit differently against the Yankees last October."
Joe Mauer: "... well played, Butler."

I am going to go out on a limb and say I do not think MLB will allow Hamilton for promoting things just yet .... especially a video game where it probably still considers them for "kids", and his troubled past is still very recent and talked about.
But that is my theory.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

I would have to agree with you on this one. Maybe next year, but I would think 2 or 3 would be more likely.I am going to go out on a limb and say I do not think MLB will allow Hamilton for promoting things just yet .... especially a video game where it probably still considers them for "kids", and his troubled past is still very recent and talked about.

How much can one man do though? I've seen far too many athletes go down troubled routes and NEVER come back. What Hamilton has done, from the depths of the deep to American League Most Valuable Player is something extraordinary. I think a lot of kids who play this game need to know about what drug addiction can do, and that there are people who have done it and have wrecked their lives. Hamilton is an exception, and he'll be the first to tell you that.I am going to go out on a limb and say I do not think MLB will allow Hamilton for promoting things just yet .... especially a video game where it probably still considers them for "kids", and his troubled past is still very recent and talked about.

Mauer's alright. I don't really see where he's holding the AL MVP or ALCS MVP trophy though...Rangers - Cowboys - Aggies - Stars - Mavericks

But as far as how the MLB has been handling things lately, it would not be prudent if this was the case. They have not been the shining example of objectivity with handling controversy.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

And as much as people like to think come back stories are great examples for kids..what it really says is you too can be a herion addict and still comeback and play baseball..Im not saying tragedy is the only way to teach a lesson but Im sure theres people that look at that and see a guy get everything back even living a crappy lifestyle for awhile. Im not knocking it..because Ive had to over come a lot of demons myself but Hamilton didnt ruin his life..he postponed it while he went on a bender for a few yearsComment

I have yet to see Hamilton go out and tell kids to go and do what he did because "you too can be a herion addict and still comeback and play baseball." In fact, he skipped the AL West Champions celebration after the Rangers defeated the Athletics to attend a faith day talk at the Coliseum; it's something that's that important to him.And as much as people like to think come back stories are great examples for kids..what it really says is you too can be a herion addict and still comeback and play baseball..Im not saying tragedy is the only way to teach a lesson but Im sure theres people that look at that and see a guy get everything back even living a crappy lifestyle for awhile.
