    Current Madden ratings mean nothing

Stole this from another forum, not sure if its already been posted here, but here it is:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rj4ws...ayer_embedded#!

This is sort of sad, i'm not sure how its even possible though. Those QBs are completely over matched but are holding their own.

      Cry is the correct answer.

I would love to know how many of the 50 something player ratings affect the game or are just there for show.

I wonder if Pete Carroll knows that Stokley plays a mean LT

Just a damn shame. I am really enjoying playing Madden this year, but it feels kind of hollow to play franchise mode when I know every "tough" roster decision I make is largely irrelevant. I have long advocated fewer ratings, and making the ratings actually matter (not to bring up 2k5, (oops, just did), but ratings mattered in that game, so it can certainly be done).

In my experience, a D lineman with a higher strength rating than the lineman he's engaged with has a much better chance of getting off the block and making his way to the ballcarrier or QB...

Low STR guys (in relation to their counterpart) get tangled up or pancaked...

I always play D as a lineman and usually use the player with the best STR matchup...

When a sub with a less favorable matchup comes in, I can really tell the difference...

Granted, I play console football games on the All Pro / All American levels with adjusted sliders, so the fact he's playing on All Madden (no mention of sliders) may be the issue...

Regardless, it's a provocative and pretty damning presentation...

I can hear the slider guys saying this shouldn't happen.(But there's the video proof.)

WOW!!!! I want Ian and Phil too explain how this can happen, after all the hype about ratings in the game. This is sad and inexcusable!!!!!!

Is this the reason there's no bull rush animation because they don't have the necessary ratings to implement it?

What a shame. I knew something was up when backup QB's could walk right into games and put up numbers.

Way is it that PS2 and Xbox still had the most polished game in terms of things that worked. I don't ever remember ratings being a total non-factor then.

EA's argument will/would be that the ratings play out more often than not. The favorable matchups will win most battles.

I think that physics, weight, height, and other common sense factors need to come into play before any animation is played out. I don't care if a 200 LB guy has the best blocking footwork in the world.... if he's going up against a 350 LB guy with elite strength who is coming on a bull rush then that 200 LB man is about to get steamrolled. Not 6 times out of 10, but 10 times out of 10. The only way that the lesser man should be able to win those battles is if they resort to cut blocks or other "tactics" and the usage of those tactics should be based on the skill ratings.

Brett Favre against any NFL DT in the trenches... his career would be over via injury in less than 10 plays. Again, common sense. Common sense programming goes a long way.

Also, try it in a Franchise mode game. Practice mode may play different.
