    Thoughts on UConn Women's Streak?

    Sunday the UConn women go to tie UCLA men's streak of 88 wins in a row from 1971-74.

    To me, no doubt it's an impressive feat, and they haven't played cupcakes to get there. They usually do a good job of going out and playing tough teams (outside of Tennessee since Geno and Pat hate each other )

    But even if they pass UCLA's 88 it won't hold the same weight IMO. The women's game still has a ways to go in terms of depth.

    I just don't think it's fair to compare the two and say UConn now is greater than those teams. Certain 4 letter media outlets seem to be trying to portray it that way though.

          Basically Pat accused Geno and UConn of recruiting violations. Deadspin had a good piece on it a few weeks ago.

              don't care as I feel the streak is tainted. And I'll leave it at that.
              I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

              I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

                      not worth getting into. I cannot prove my beliefs and discussion would only be a pissing contest.

                          Their only hope is having a 3rd scorer emerge besides Prahalis/Lavender

                              Not that I blame anyone for not knowing the ins and outs of a women's college basketball rivalry but it's the other way around, Pat refuses to play Geno.

                              In September 2007, Auriemma sounded off, telling the Hartford Courant that Summitt should explain why she canceled the series: "I think she should just come out and say she's not playing us because she hates my guts...She should just say that [Geno is] a dope, a smart-*** and then everyone could say that they agree with her."

                                  I just wish ESPN would stop covering girl's basketball. I don't know a single person that follows or cares what happens.

                                              I don't even know why the UCLA streak and this one are compared. It's stupid. UCLA hold's the men's record and UCONN holds the women's record. ESPN is just hyping this to try and get folks to watch the game.

                                              On another note, why is the streak tainted? I haven't heard of any improprieties by UCONN, but I don't follow it closely.
