    Update Offseason Franchise File

UPDATE (02/01/2011): Here is the update that I promised early tonight. Like I said, it is up-to-date with the last signing being the Freddy Garcia minor league deal with the Yanks (he's currently being removed from the 40 man to make it legit). I created a couple of players (McClendon of MIL, Nickeas of NYM, a few others... I think) and like I mentioned below, updated Bryce Harper -- courtesy of RodCarew. A problem I found this time around is the Orioles after the signing of Duchscherer -- they have no money left. Sorry, O's fans. Might have to edit him, release him, and see if you can pick him right back up.

Of course, as always, feel free to comment or question -- send PMs if need be.

UPDATE (02/07/2011): Sorry for the later post than I would have liked, but I have the file updated through today's minor signings of David Riske to the O's and Aaron Miles to the Dodgers. This also includes the Vlad signing which was explained somewhere else in this thread.

As usual, questions/comments/concerns, let me know.

Updated the explanation above. I found Okajima in the free agent bin when you start spring training. For some reason, many of the players "disappear" off of the free agent market when you DFA them and let them get released. But they will reappear when spring training begins.

Yeah, I've been updating it ever since. I have done up through the Duchscherer/O's signing today and some of the minor league signings. I'm currently working through roster numbers and just updated the Bryce Harper CAP that I had on the Nats (thanks, RodCarew29 for that!!!). Other than that, just tweaking it right now. Should be up some time tonight.

Placed the updated franchise file in the first post (in place of the last two). Hope it works for everyone. Let me know if it doesn't.

                  Re: Update Offseason Franchise File

Sounds good. Just curious? Is this based on Kinght's full minor's set or is this based off another roster set?

                    Re: Update Offseason Franchise File

This is based off of Knight's OS Full Minors Set (I believe 4.3). Good question.

                    No problem, cnelly!

                      Thanks for this, much appreciated!!

However, is it just me, or is Mike Cameron from the Red Sox missing?

nkrause, this is probably a dumb question, but how am I supposed to use the file? Do I download it from my computer to a thumb drive? Download it straight from my PS3 browser? Find you through the game? I'm new to this and really appreciate you working so hard on it!

After you open the zip file, move the PS3 folder to a thumb drive. Copy the file to your PS3 hard drive and voila. It should work. Let me know if it doesn't.

tioberto, I PM'd you about Cameron. For those of you searching for him as well, he retired at the end of the 2010 season on the game like Chris Carpenter and Casey Blake. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Re: Update Offseason Franchise File (as of 01/31/2011)

A problem I'm finding with the file is the lack of players in the minor league systems. When you get to the third or fourth day of the season, you will have a message pop up about the minor league teams not having the right number of players in the pitching rotation/bullpen or lineup. It also caused a freezing glitch when I tried to mess with the lineup or bullpen/rotation.

To counteract this, you may have to sign a bunch of random players into the minors for the teams OR allow the computer to make the changes. When I allowed the computer to auto fix, it sent most of the players up from single A to the upper minors. Some teams don't have to worry about this because of their depth, but then there are others like the Red Sox (who only have four or five catchers), this is a problem.

                              Re: Update Offseason Franchise File

Hey all... I recently reported that a problem I had with the file was that the Orioles didn't have any money. With the signing of Vlad tonight, this is a major issue. According to the last file you have used, the orioles only have 3-5 million dollars to play with (that's if you haven't done the update signings of Randy Winn and the pitchers to minor league contracts). So the Vlad signing would be hard to come by...

                              until now.

I have found a way to work around the signing of Vlad -- however to a two year deal worth about 7 million dollars a year. The way I did this (if you would want to attempt this on your own) is to DFA/release the following players: Justin Duchscherer, Mike Gonzalez, and Cesar Izturis. These are by far three of the highest paid players on the team currently. Have a team with a lot of money pick them up -- I used the Yankees for example. Then, when they're picked up off the waivers, write down the stats of the three players and lower the stats of these players until they are really low overall. Cut them to free agency. Sign Vlad to a two year deal worth about 15 million. He will sign. Then, with the remaining 1.8 million left of the O's, sign Duchscherer, Gonzalez, and Izturis to small money deals (I gave each player 300K on my file). Then edit the players to the stats they were previously and voila... you have a work around for the Vlad to O's signing. Try this out on your own or wait for me to upload the file -- most likely tomorrow night. If you have any issues, let me know. I will try to fix them to the best of my ability.
