Stevenage FC from Conference play and beyond

I recently got the FIFA 11 game and like to play Career Mode, so here we go.

I am on PS3, playing 'Pro' level 'Slow', with a 'Pro' level Board. I will likely SIM Pre-Season games and play the rest.

Barry Hayles, got his start at Stevenage (Borough) and is back to Stevenage FC to help the Club in League play. Most recently, the Jamaican International had been at Truro City FC, a Conference side in the Southern League Premier Division. Coach has great playing experience in League Football with Fulham, Sheffield United, Milwall, etc. Hopefully this playing experience will translate to a burgeoning Coaching career.

The Board is looking for the side to finish in the top half of the league. Coach Hayles will try to accomplish this, while having a big focus on bringing in youth to the side for the future. Likely, out will be players that don't fit the system or players that are getting to be a bit long in the tooth.

Here is the Stevenage FC Wiki page for more information about the side

    So here we go,

Stevenage FC had a bad first twelve minutes in this game where they let in the two Gillingham goals. A Akinfenwa scored in the ninth minute, muscling two defenders off of the ball and placing a shot past the keeper. In minute twelve, the Gills C. Weston scored their second goal. After this, the Borough players shut down the Gillingham offense. Several chances were created by the Stevenage offense, but to no avail. The only other excitement in the game was a yellow card to Gills J. Gowling in minute 77.
Man of the Match was Stevenage FC's CB J. Aston, with a match rating of 7.4.
Next match is a Cup match and a chance for the team to correct themselves.

          Stevenage's J. Byrom gives it a rip

So, bottom line here is that Stevenage FC wins the game 2-0, away at Southend United. I will post a couple of videos of the goals that were scored, but I kind of screwed up a couple of things for making a game report and some screen shots.
The first goal came off of a run across the top of the box and a nice shot from left to right into the side netting and away from the keeper, by Odubade. The second goal came from a cross from Odubade to Griffen, who headed the ball into the goal from a very sharp angle. The cross from Odubade actually started to veer toward the back post, but was always going to be too long. Griffen was able to track the ball that got past the keeper and put it away.
On to the next round of the League Cup, hopefully to play the role of giant killers.

So this goal video was done in slow motion and I am not sure why I did that

This one is much better, with crowd noise and you can see the swerve of the ball
BTW, dig the 'Robot' at the end. I love that move!

Day comes up big for Stevenage FC in this game.
Not sure why he doesn't get a Club crest on his jersey though?

Day with another save. In the video of this highlight,
has has to get back up right away and make the rebound save

Stevenage FC did get their chances, including this one that bounced off of the cross bar

The 'Borough' forward Griffen gets a pass and cuts inside for a shot

Aldershot Town keeper saves a low hard shot

Day's double save keeps the clean sheet

This one should have gone in

Not sure why I included this one, but here it is

                              Score:
                              81' Y. Odubade - Stevenage FC
                              85' S. Miller - Crewe Alexandra

Stevenage goes up by a single goal with just 9 minutes left in regulation and Coach Hayles subs to try to shore up the defense and maybe ride out a 1-0 lead to a win. Unfortunately, just 4 minutes later, Crewe equalize and the score remains a tie. Atleast Stevenage get a point out of the match and Coach Hayles is starting to figure out a system and rhythm for the squad.

Ashton gets up for a speculative header on goal

Griffin queuing the ball up for a pass to Yemi

Odubade finishes with the outside of his foot

A chance on goal, fighting off the defense

A chance taken that goes wanting

Like someone once said, "Yemi, Yemi, Yemi, Oi, Oi, Oi!"

Crewe equalize in minute '85 on an almost impossible sequence

Nothing big about this, I just like the shot.
