FOX slowly buying up college football rights

This week they've inked C-USA and PAC-10, plus they will carry the BIG-10 title game. I know they lost a ton of money with the BCS deal, but it looks like they are getting into the college football mix.

Hopefully their presentation gets better for the college game with them getting more involved.

That was my biggest gripe with Fox carrying the BCS bowls. The presentation was awful.

I hate Fox. Their presentation is terrible compared to ESPN/CBS and it just didn't feel right them doing college football.

With the SEC and MNF rights, no one thought ESPN was going to outbid whomever wanted the Big-10 title game.

I have the same problem with their big Ten Network as well - the presentation is lacking in so many areas.

Will this be carried on the actual FOX network or through FSN/a new network carrying C-USA and PAC-10?

Either way, this is interesting and let's hope the presentation is a bit better.

No coincidence, FOX is the minority owner of the Big 10 network. FOX's football presentation is lacking, and I'd wish they'd just stay away from cfb.

Perhaps they are doing this due to the impending lockout in the NFL?

They will use FOX, F/X, and the FSNs. I believe that FOX will carry the C-USA, PAC-10, and Big 10 title games as a tripleheader. I doubt you would see any C-USA matches on FOX during the regular season. Just PAC-10 if any at all.

Re: FOX slowly buying up college football rights

ESPN's trying like hell to get the SEC away from CBS. They want to carry an SEC game in primetime(8PM EST slot) on ABC but CBS essentially makes it impossible by getting the marquee game each week.

I doubt it ever happens though. CBS has it made in the shade with the NFL games, SEC marquee game, The Masters, and March Madness.

They lose money on the Masters since August only allows 4 minutes of commercials each hour and only lets them show 3 hours on Sat. and 4 on Sunday.

SEC already is getting a brinks truck from ESPN with that new deal

                            Yes.

They also had Hockey for a bit and they would highlight the puck, which for some reason people hated.

Maybe they will hire guys to man the booth that are college guys unlike what the did with the BCS. If they get a bunch of NFL guys who know little to nothing about college football then they will sink. Maybe they will get better over time like they did with the NFL.
