miggy1212 presents an Chicago Blackhawks Franchise

    Chicago Blackhawks
    2009-2010 NHL Champions

    Author's Note:
Well... got NHL 11 last week and have been playing it since... love it! This game is addicting, and in my opinion, one of the best sport video games I've ever played. Anyway, I've decided to start a franchise here on OS and noticed that the Hockey section is pretty busy. Raised and grew up in Chicago, and finally witnessed a championship with my Chicago Blackhawks last year. That has been my inspiration to start a 'chise and TRY to repeat. So I hope every one enjoys this, and I hope to keep the Stanley Cup trophy here in Chicago .

    Game: NHL 11
Sliders: TNKNGM All-Star Sliders (good job with them, man)
    Roster: Latest Update
Personal Goal: Make the best possible 'chise, and just have fun!

    ENJOY EVERYONE!

      Blackhawks ready to defend title

      Article written by: miggy1212

Head Coach Joel Quenneville stated Tuesday night that his Chicago Blackhawks were ready to defend their 2009-2010 Stanley Cup Championship, despite the pressure the media is putting on them.

"Their ready. I've talked to a couple of players during the off-season, and their all just ready to get back out there, defend the title as they say," head coach Joel Quenneville told the press after Tueday's practice, "They know there is going to be a lot of pressure put on them by the fans and the media, but their ready for anything, including repeating."

Chicago didn't make too much noise in the off season, except signing Fernando Pisani to an 3-year deal. They believe the squad that won last year's Stanley Cup can win it again this year. Despite losing their starting goalie Antti Niemi to San Jose, they believe young Corey Crawford can come in and create an impact.

"Corey (Crawford) doesn't have much experience, but we believe in the organization that he can be a special one," head coach Joel Quenneville spoke to the media about now starting goalie Corey Crawford. "We don't expect him to come out and dominate right away, but as the season progresses, the improvement will show in him I believe."

Led by their captain Jonathan Toews, the Blackhawks once again should be looked at as favorites in the Western Conference, and also in the Central Division. The Blackhawks open their season up on the road, going up against the Colorado Avalanche on October 7th.

Game One: Chicago 0, Colorado 2

Denver, CO - The Chicago Blackhawks opened the season in Colorado, and didn't exactly open the season on a good note, getting shutout 2-0. No scoring happened in the 0-0, as both goalies, Craig Anderson and Corey Crawford, were both excellent. But the Avalanche struck first in the second, as Chris Stewart scored but at first the referees erased the goal, but after reviewing it, the goal stood giving the Avalanche an 1-0 lead. And once again Colorado scored in the third period, with Paul Stastny scoring on a deflected goal, first shot from John-Michael Liles, and Stastny completely fooled Corey Crawford, who was expecting the shot from Liles. Colorado managed to hold on for the 2-0 win, sending some shock waves around the league as the defending champions were shut-out in the opener.

In his debut as the now starting goalie, Corey Crawford played exceptionally well, as he never got any help from the offensive side.

Game Two: Detroit 5, Chicago 1

                    ***

The Chicago Blackhawks celebrated their championship won from last year tonight, but the Detroit Red Wings ruined the party, coming in and embarrassing the Blackhawks, winning 5-1. Tomas Holmstrom opened the scoring for Detroit, scoring the first of three goals in the first period. Drew Miller and Rene Corbet added two more goals, and Chicago sat stunned at the end of the first period, their team down 3-0 already. And Detroit didn't stop either, attacking the young Corey Crawford and scoring one more in the second, with Darren Helm scoring this time. By the end of the second period, the score was 4-0 in the favor of Detroit, but the shocking things was that Chicago was winning in the shot department. The embarrassment continued in the third as Nicklas Lindstrom added another one, extending the lead to five, but Tomas Kopecky avoided a second-straight shut-out with a goal with seven seconds remaining, cutting the lead to 5-1, which was also the final.

"Ugly. There's only one word for tonight's performance. The guys were excited about the presentation before the game, and it seemed like they just got out-played tonight. Offensively, defensively, everything. We need to improve," head coach Joel Quenneville told the press after the game.

Cristobal Huet is my back up goalie, but I wanna stay realistic and since Crawford is the starter in real life, he should be in the game. I know he's gonna struggle throughout the year, but I have to start scoring goals.

And good luck with your 'chise wherever you post it.

Blackhawks Drop To 0-3, Players Confused

If you asked the Chicago Blackhawks why they've been playing so poorly the last three games, which has dropped them to 0-3... they have no answer.

"If I knew, I would tell you," captain Jonathan Toews told the media, "We're just not playing high-level play of hockey, play we know we're capable of. We got to get better... fast."

The Blackhawks once again got dominated tonight, as they dropped another game to the Buffalo Sabres, as Ryan Miller denied anything the Blackhawks tried on him. Corey Crawford once again played well, despite giving up three goals, but the offense couldn't help again.

"Corey (Crawford) is the reason we're not getting blown out every game by five or six goals," Patrick Kane told the media, "We need to back him up because we saw the start of his frustration."

As Patrick Kane said, Corey Crawford displayed a little bit of frustration after Jochen Hect scored after a shot from Kaleta slid past all of the Blackhawks defenders, with none of them picking it up, and Hect swooped in to score. Crawford responded by slamming his stick into the ice, and barking out to his defensemen.

"He was just frustrated about how bad the defenders were on that play. I like it, though... it shows how much he cares about this game and this team," head coach Joel Quenneville told the media, "Our offense needs to get on board because Corey Crawford has been on since day one."

The Chicago Blackhawks (0-3) return home, where they will face off against the (1-0) Nashville Predators, looking for their first win of the season.

Looks like you are getting plenty of shots off every night, just not finding the holes. Hopefully you can stop the skid in your next game.
