How to make Kevin Durant dominate...

I have been playing with the Thunder almost exclusively. I am pretty effective with them, but one thing that I have not been able to figure out is how to make KD dominate. We are talking about the leading scorer in the NBA last year (I think), but I cannot get him to consistently hit open jumpers. I assume this is just me and shot timing?

First of all Real FG% makes everything much more realistically. and 2ndly KD tries to drive and create Free Throw Attempts, not settle for jump shots.

If you want him to shoot consistently make sure most of the shots your taking with him (85-90%) are good shots, open, maybe not wide open but open shots that you moved the ball around to get. If your going iso on every play your not going to get great results. If your working the ball around and still not getting results go to practice mode, maybe your just timing it wrong...

i have noticed my players a few times (not necesarily durant) swipe the ball across a defender the way durant does IRL to create fouls, is there a way to get a whistle and go up for a 3 point play the way some players do in the league?

Turn shot feedback on to make sure you're timing his jumpshot correctly.

Run lots of plays to get him open looks. 21 Stretch Roll is a masterpiece.

Attack the rim aggressively. Use his height by attacking the lane and using some hop steps. You should draw a lot of fouls and force the D to collapse.
You shouldn't worry about what others think of you, because if you knew how little they did, you would be insulted.

Real % isn't my favorite, it doesn't give me the feeling I'm controlling the game. Just take good shots, get to the line and take the treys when you can. Durant is arguably the best player in the game.

With Durant you can do everything pretty well with him. Learn how to do all of the layups in your sleep and you will see your free throw count skyrocket. Also learn how to work the pick and roll - he is nasty on the leak and will get a lot of open looks after he sets a pick.

I feel the same way about real field goal percentages myself. You have to play aggressively with star players to be dominate but... there is such a thing called off night. Like when nothing falls for you

FIrstly, he is a frequent foul line shooter so he gets to the line with ease, adjust your foul sliders a bit higher so when you drive, you draw fouls, he also pulls up for the mid range jjumper or if hes wide open, pop the 3

OKC is a team that has many good jump shooters, therefor you can easily fall on doing an outside-inside game ... while it might work seldomly, the correct way to play is the other way around.

Attack the basket, get a few easy buckets with KD and he will get hot quickly, improving your jumpshots chances of hitting them ... he may not be an LBJ or Wade driver and contact finisher, but he is good.

His lenght is a plus when you post, fallaway or jump over his smaller opponents. He and Westbrook form a terrific tag team ... I love to play with them.

Re-check this video from Czar on the Thunder's playbook. When I run those 4-5 plays out of that play set online I always get great looks with Durant all game long.

Just mix those plays up and try to get to the free throw line. I run a lot of give-and-go's with Durant to get him in the lane and try to draw a foul. If you're not shooting a ton of free throws, then you're clearly not trying to make Durant dominate in the same manner he does in the league.

It's funny you brought up Czars video.... because some where down the line in one of their updates. They changed the default plays for Durant. I been using them for a long time. They added 2 new plays. One is a isolation and the other is a post up play. Both changes didn't make sense to me.

I'm not on here too much so when I do make it here I spazz out ... but KD is definitely the best scorer in this game.
                          1. Link me if you have a 360 and I'll show you.
                          2. If you dont .. try 14 side play (its a power foward 3 point play .. same one Chris Bosh has) .. try 12 lob (its a 2 guard default play) .. and put in some work with his eurosteps ... on breaks I typically spin it around my back and go into the eurostep .. he takes up so much space that he either draws a foul, gets the bucket or the and one. Even cpu on hof doesn't have an answer for him .. but like I said. I can easier show you than tell you. That's def one of my can't use em online too much bacause it gets boring team .. Durant is good for 20 of any 30 thunder points .. also his signature gather gets people nervous .. gets you open if you string it with the right moves (the simplest string would be his lazy hesitations (iso foward and backward .. forgot the 2k name right now) .. and then Y. My last post for right now ... hope you found that helpful. You'll need some practice thoough .. but your suspicions are right. He's a fu***** problem

Also, his 3s reduced with the latest update .. but not by much. Westbrooks J improved tho .. some it should balance out. Fair enough since OKC isn't shooting the 3 that well irl.
In terms of scoring ... Westbrook and Durant are more dangerous that LBJ and Wade .. as it should be since that's the case irl.

Everything has been pretty well covered so far, but one thing I would tell you is to not overlook getting Durant in the post. If you have a size advantage (which you will quite often given Durant's height) try to post him on the block, or even higher up the lane if necessary, then go to work. My favorite move is to back the defender down, drop step (R2) whichever direction my back is facing, and then quickly shoot a fadeaway. It's a move he utilizes in real life and it's nearly unblockable if you do it right.

Durant is a perimeter player, but if you're struggling from the outside, sometimes the best thing to do is to start treating him like a big man. Get in the post, get some easy looks, get his confidence up, and he'll start knocking down the outside jumpers too.
