We are monitoring and fixing issues in this thread.
Thanks for your patience.
The upgrade is complete, but you've probably noticed the forums are only showing posts up to about April 8. Posts made after that are still in the process of being moved over, and that should take another week or two. Feel free to start a new thread.
The site might feel a little slow while work continues. Engineers are staying on it through the night to get things moving faster again. Thanks for your patience.
its like the Computer defense is suffocating me. no matter what spin move or crossover i put on the computer, they are stuck to me like glue. the only way to score is to run plays or just "shoot" the ball cause driving to the basket is gone.
how do you all get free?
Sounds like you are getting owned by the bumping animations, you need to decrease the on-ball defense to 48, defensive awareness to 38 and quickness to 49. That should remove the bumping, now you should be able to shake defenders off a little easier

Reason: sorry, fixed now

leave the sliders alone...learn how to create space with picks and step backs, and know that you don't have to totally get pass your defender in order to drive.
shotstick is your friend, you can create while driving along side with the defender to the basket
You said exactly what you need to do. Run plays. That's what basketball consists of. You learn your personnel and how to work within your teams system and see what plays work.
If you actually watch you'd know that you can't just shake your man and drive to the hoop every time. However the crossovers are still effective. You just need to read the defense. If your man is playing straight up defense, chances are you won't be able to "shake" him. But if he's shading you one direction, take him off the dribble. All simple stuff.
It's all basic basketball knowledge. Just keep practicing and it will come.

So true. Another thing, if the defender "squares" you, you can drive the lane much easier. If the defender is anticipating you to drive and makes some space, shoot over him. What you do in real life, you can apply it here.

Why is everyone's solution to getting owned by the cpu to change the sliders?
Just learned the cpu's tendencies and run plays ... dont change sliders.
Yeah, somebody pointed out that you don't have to completely burn the defender to get by him. There's a new animation this year that happens sometimes when you get bumped...your guy will actually nudge his way around the defender to break free to the hoop.
I also find that attacking the rim aggresively even when I only have half a step on somebody can be effective.
And lastly, USE HOP STEPS. They're deadly. Probably too deadly...they create such a huge gap between you and the D if timed correctly.
You shouldn't worry about what others think of you, because if you knew how little they did, you would be insulted.
If you have a quick guy learn how to use the left trigger layups. All you need is a little bit of separation, like off a screen at the top of the key, and you can shoot through for a layup or kickout to an open shooter. You need some momentum towards the basket for these to work, but once you get the hang of them its much easier to slash.

Don't mess with the sliders too early.
Try to keep 2-3 feet distance between you and the defender, do some size-up or cross over move and read what the defender is doing. If he is reacting to one of your moves take the other side.
If you try this when to close to the defender you have a harder time going around him. At least thats the mistake I made earlier.
Also, if you're too far away from him, he has an easier time re-reacting when you try to pass him. Therefore the mentioned 2-3 feet distance.
play the game without relying on iso-motion it is easier to move around without using iso-motion controls. I was having the same problem and then watched the czar video on understanding movement. once you understand to take what the defense gives you and know when to use speed burst as there is no turbo anymore in the game it is more of a speed burst. u cannot beat faster players off the dribble so you will need to use a screen to get an advantage on them.
Ex. rondo's speed and defensive ability is superior to b davis's offensive skills. so to counter act that call screens to slow rondo down.
there are 3 speeds in the game walking, jogging and speed with the right trigger and or R2 on the ps3. you have to create space and read what the defender is giving you. use your hesitation dribble and then move to where the defender is allowing you to go if you have a step on him use your speed burst gain the advantage. it takes practice and understanding how to play basketball. no more video games.
