For The Real Hardcore Nhl Fans

Let me start out by saying you guys do a tremendous job with all these sliders because lets face it Video games Just cant get it right. But let me say I have been working on these since the release of the game and I can now say I am ready to release them to the public the only thing I am having trouble with is penalties and hits I can not seem to get more then 20 hits in a game they are the main things and also it seems that the players do not close the center ice also most of the time it is to easy to play the boards But for the most part it is very realistic I have to say it has been fun figuring these settings out I have finally figured out how to keep shooting to a minimum and I hope you all enjoy these PLEASE if you can help to get more penalties and hits I am open to all

Re: For The Real Hardcore Nhl Fans

      Very nice!

Everytime I try the table generator it comes out like crap but here's the highlights.......

      Edmonton(me)1 - @ Calgary - 3

      Shots: Edm-44, Cal-30
      Hits: Edm-9, Cal-10
      Faceoffs: Edm-28, Cal-31
      TOA: Edm-6:49, Cal-5:27
Penalty Minutes: Edm-31, Cal-27 (This is the battle of Alberta don't forget)
      Powerplays: Edm-0/5, Cal-2/7

      Really good stuff.
The puck was bouncing all over the place which I liked and the CPU actually missed a ton of passes which I also really liked. They must have had 6 or 7 icings.
The pass speed maxed made getting the puck to the open man in the slot easier without having the puck automatically intercepted even with Int's at 0.
A lot of shots missing the net which was a plus and even with attributes at only 1 I could tell the difference between my 1st and 4th lines.
I had 44 shots but many of those came on a 5 on 3 powerplay and late in the game when desperation set in and I just started firing at the net hoping for a lucky bounce or a rebound.
I'm going to try these a little while longer.
My only question is what took you so long? lol

Honestly I wouldn't even worry about hit totals. Seems to be a useless stat in this game anyways.
My second game was as good as the first. I beat Columbus 2-1 as Edmonton.
I've been watching the show "Oil Change" on NHL network recently and decided I would try using Edmonton in a second season.
Anyway, been seeing some really good goal variety and the goals the CPU scores don't look cheap. Seems the key here is the goalie reaction at 3. I've tried setting this at 5/2, 4/2, 4/1, 5/1 and just never got the right goalie feeling. I like what I've been using but this slider at 3 just has the most realistic feel to it. Only thing I am using different from you is manual shot aim. I like the rewarding feeling of scoring on a shot where I know I put the puck in the perfect place to beat the goalie.
Another thing I am seeing that I like a lot is a ton of blocked shots. Watching a lot of Rangers games and seeing how many shots they block over the course of a game really makes the blocks in this game stand out to me even more.
There were several times in just 2 games where I thought when I checked the stats I would see shot totals in the 60's because that's what it felt like were taken. But with all the missed shots and blocks the shot totals have been 44 and 35 for me, 30 and 36 for the CPU.

Thats awsome I am playing with strategy adjustments at 1 now it seems to lower shot totals Im glad your enjoying them I know I get a ton of blocked shots Im going to try different teams and see if there is a difference in players Also Im thinking of lowering the shot power but i dont know yet seeing some high scoring games but will try a couple more the goalie reaction is great I cant always score on them juke moves i get stoned by good goalies and they seem to react to the puck more

wow awesome sliders. Just had my most fun game yet. I was Rangers and beat the Carolina 3-2 and it was a nail biter. Here are some of the stats:

                  Shots NYR 40 Car 26
                  Hits NYR 5 Car 32
                  Faceoffs NYR 30 Car 26
                  TOA NYR 5:26 Car 5:52
                  PM NYR 4 Car 14
                  PP NYR 1/7 Car 0/2

My shots were high because all of the pp. Game played great. Very competitive and no cheap goals.

I think I am going to leave your sliders right where they are at. These are by far the best set I have tried and I have tried them all. I am very happy now with how this game plays.

Yea I am happy with them as is I just made 2 adjustments and now they are done I moved slap shot power down to 3 because shot power at four makes it more realistic in terms of player with cannon shots you still get powerful slapshots with players like chara ect.. enjoyem Guys and thnx for taking the time to checkem out

Re: For The Real Hardcore Nhl Fans

The funny thing is when I saw the 17 minute periods I thought it would be way too long and scores and shot totals would be through the roof but that's not the case.
Do you think these would play well with say 11:00 or 12:00 periods?
I sometimes like shorter games so I can play 2 in a row before the wife comes home and takes over the TV.
I use manual aim so I might leave shot power as is. I need that little extra oooph on my shots because my aim isn't always so good. Actually it mostly sucks

Going to try these out, I'm finding that I'm getting closer and closer to bumping up the difficulty to Superstar... But I want to try these first. At first glance I'm worried that while playing a "pro/authentic" game style like I do that the game will be loose.... I will post stats when I finish. Thanks

Liked what I saw out there for the most part. Game was tight until they got a few bounces in the third period. Obviously if you want to hit you can get the hits up over 20.
