I think 8-4 or 9-3 is a realistic guess for how SU will do this season.

Re: Down the Field: The Syracuse Orange Thread

The team exceeded my expectations last year. I had them going 6-6 on the 2010 campaign but as we know they finished 8-5 and as the champions of the inaugural New Era Pinstripe Bowl. I think we take a step back this year due to the many seniors that depart (notably Ryan Bartholomew, Doug Hogue, Derrell Smith and Delone Carter). The team's success next year will be dependent on Ryan Nassib improving as a QB. I think he's awful and needs a lot of work. He held back the offense last season and put the pressure on our defense way too much. Hopefully there is an open competition during the spring to light a fire under him.

Looking at the schedule, we can go 4-1 right before conference play begins. I think we go 3-4 or 4-3 in conference. The conference will be just like how it was last year; everyone is going to beat up on each other.

        My official 2011 prediction:
        7-5
        NCAA BB: Syracuse Orange
        NCAA FB: Syracuse Orange
        NHL: New Yo rk Rangers
        MLB: New York Mets
        NBA: Los Angeles Lakers

            TBA at Connecticut

That means 2012 - Return of Coach P and DeLeone to the Dome. That is a MUST win game

I am hoping for 9 wins this coming year

All 27 commitments according to SUathletics.com
                The offensive group includes quarterbacks <dfn>Ashton Broyld</dfn> and <dfn>Terrel Hunt</dfn>, wide receivers <dfn>Kyle Foster</dfn>, <dfn>Keenan Hale</dfn> and <dfn>Jeremiah Kobena</dfn>, running backs <dfn>Adonis Ameen-Moore</dfn>, <dfn>Brandon Reddish</dfn> and <dfn>Tyree Smallwood</dfn>, tight end <dfn>Louis Addazio</dfn>, and offensive linemen <dfn>Lou Alexander</dfn>, <dfn>Kristofer Curtis</dfn>, <dfn>Nick Robinson</dfn>, <dfn>Rob Trudo</dfn> and <dfn>Ivan Foy</dfn>. The defensive group includes defensive lineman <dfn>Eric Crume</dfn>, <dfn>Donnie Simmons</dfn> and <dfn>Ryan Sloan</dfn>, linebackers <dfn>Cameron Lynch</dfn> and <dfn>Oliver Vigille</dfn>, and defensive backs <dfn>Dyshawn Davis</dfn>, <dfn>Ritchy Desir</dfn>, <dfn>Siriki Diabate</dfn>, Durrell Eskridge, <dfn>Jaston George</dfn> and <dfn>Shutang Mungwa</dfn>. The specialists are punter <dfn>Jonathan Fisher</dfn> and long snapper <dfn>Sam Rodgers</dfn>.
Although we don't have any 4/5 star recruits, I'm optimistic about this group. I think that our coaching staff, especially Scott Shafer, can maximize each recruit's potential.

Marrone(like Edsell) has shown a knack for finding 1,2, or 3 star players that can find the field and play immediately. I really like how Marrone has taken back NY, our Athletes are just as good as any from any part of the nation, they are simply not polished. A good coaching staff can easily take these kids and win games with them.

As for how good next years team will be, I am very high on the offense. I think Nassib can do real damage with a full squad of WRs, There will be at least 4 Solid WRs(Chew, Sales, Lemon, and West). If Nassib has time, there should almost always be an open receiver.

For what it is worth, my friend within the program has said that SU is very close to announcing plans for a new Practice facility and it will easily be one of the best in the nation, on par with the Melo Center.
