To take edited generics online:

If you change their player type from "05" (editable player) back to "84 01" (normal generic) it will remove the edited generics from the "edit player" list in game, and your roster will pass the "reloading default roster" verification screen that normally causes the game to freeze if you have any "05" edited generics on your roster file.
