2011 offseason roster based off Knight
Is there a roster available that is based off, or done by, Knight and company that is up to date on all off season transactions? ive looked at a few, but its hard to respect their work when they have guys like Mike Trout with a 60-something in speed. Knight does the best work and i hope there is an offseason abailable to hold me over til The Show 2011 comes out and we have to have that dreadful wait til Knight makes this game the best. To anyone who points me in the correct direction of a good roster, thank you very much!Tags: None -

This is why I would use MLE's or future season projections ... rather than just reducing all of an MiLB'ers ratings by a certain percentage or points.
There has been so much research done in the area of MLE, etc that one should not have to use actual MiLB stats and then reduce across the board.
Basically, there is not much difference between a MiLB and MLB fielder, so the fielding ratings and the speed ratings should be similar. The difference between a MLB player and MiLB player is essentially all "batting" and that's where the difference should be.GATEWAY TO GREATNESS: 2010 CARDINALS FRANCHISE

Re: 2011 offseason roster based off Knight
I'm quite shocked at the lack of a updated 2011 roster set, figured there would be a nice big thread with some guys working on it.
Maybe I will have to buy '11 after all.Comment

Re: 2011 offseason roster based off Knight
Dude, it's January.
I'm amazed at how many folks just show up in the rosters forum and act like there should be up to date rosters just ready ... as if they appeared out of nowhere.
Feel free to make your own and upload them. Then field questions about all the inaccuracies in the rosters, and how so-n-so is better than so-n-so, and how everyone is going to go re-rate all the players because your ratings are so off ... and on and on.
Rosters take a while to get right, test for accuracy, etc ... and believe it or not, they ain't exactly the funnest things to work on (which is why everyone is asking for free rosters ... no one wants to do the work).
There are still plenty of trades to be made.
Why someone would release rosters now is beyond me. It's the week before the super bowl.
Maybe I will have to buy '11 after all.Last edited by TripleThreat1973; 01-28-2011, 05:44 PM.GATEWAY TO GREATNESS: 2010 CARDINALS FRANCHISE

Re: 2011 offseason roster based off Knight
Yeah, I'm all worked up about it. My whole weekend is ruined because you asked for someone to do a bunch of work to save you time and/or money.
I'm just continually amazed at how people seemingly view the existence of others simply to provide a free service for them. I just found it funny that were shocked that updated 2011 rosters were not available to you, for free, at your fingertips, when you wanted them ... in January, no less. The comment about maybe having to buy MLB11 after all was priceless.
Surely you see the humor in your comments. God Forbid you have to buy MLB11 in March if people don't put some rosters together for you.GATEWAY TO GREATNESS: 2010 CARDINALS FRANCHISE

Re: 2011 offseason roster based off Knight
I actually thought the whole point of roster forums was to post info about the people who have updated the rosters and/or created some form of historic roster. I for one also am just going to download someones most updated roster too, just so i don't have to spend another $60 on a baseball game.Broncos,Cubs,Pistons,Red Wings, and Ohio StateComment

The point of the roster forum is to discuss roster and share ideas and to announce updates.
But, the comment is this thread was shock and surprise that no one had 2011 rosters up by January, and now they might have to buy MLB11.
I'm making my own 2011 rosters, because I don't want to buy MLB11 because they have the lamest analog controls I've ever seen.
I am commenting because you guys do not understand, your attitude and comments are why there's not more roster makers. The expectations and aburdity reach ridiculous levels, very quickly. Just look at the comments about Bahnzo. It's ridiculous. We're spolied. We expect others to provide us a free service continuosly. When they don't, we get pissed.GATEWAY TO GREATNESS: 2010 CARDINALS FRANCHISE

Re: 2011 offseason roster based off Knight
I guess what I don't get is why (during the off season) people expect perfection.
There are rosters on SC, that are updated at least once a week, and from the sims I have done are amazingly accurate stat wise. Whoever is doing them, and whatever they are based off of, I do not know for sure, but the ratings have been reworked, and seem pretty good.
Now these rosters don't have full minors, but who cares at this point. You basically have a little over a month to play a little baseball, just to hold you over till '11 release.
If you are choosing not to get '11, that is your choice (and maybe your loss), but why would any of the roster makers (who most of which will be making rosters in a few weeks for '11), care to dive into a full roster update for '10?
And, if there is anyone who is willing to do an update based off of Knights work (and everyone else that added in other updates along the way), they seem to get blasted for using Knights rosters as a base anyway, instead of doing their own work.
Basically what I am saying is that everyone that is likely to do it is focused on '11, so you are probably out of luck. Either take what you can get (no minors), or update Knights rosters for your own personal use.Comment

Re: 2011 offseason roster based off Knight
There are plenty of obcessed sports fans out there that do take the time to update rosters up to minute(it seems like)not just for others, but for their own personal use. I know from reading forums and downloading rosters personally from the likes of NCAA Football 11 and NBA 2K11 that this is true. So for someone to get on this forum surprised that there wasn't one yet actually does makes sense,or maybe baseball games are so boring no one wants to take the time to update it all the way.Why use roster download/share other than to use people for the roster they created? Are we supposed to mail out checks to everyone or something?Broncos,Cubs,Pistons,Red Wings, and Ohio StateComment

MLB11 comes out March 3rd, and features something "new" (analog controls). So, I'm guessing almost everyone is going to be playing MLB11. So, you're really asking why people are not investing 60-70 hours making a roster for a game that very few are going to be playing and will be outdated in a month and a half.
Like emath said, if you want rosters, they are available. But, people want full minors rosters, with all the updated trades, updated ratings, accurate lineups, rotations, and pitch types ... don;t forget to make the pitch types accurate as possible ... AND put a rush on it, I want to play it by Tuesday, because I have some dead time until "New game Title" comes out.
Again, you're asking for updated rosters for a game that will be forgotten in 6 weeks.
Personally, I don;t see what's so damn diffiuclt about making the trades yourself. Is it really too much to ask or to accomplish? It may take an hour, tops. Whoo.
I'll have a thread later that explains all the steps in making an accurate roster/system. It's a whole lot more involved than just scrolling thorugh and making changes based on feel, and it's a heckuva lot more than just increasing the rating for your favorite team or players (which is all some of the rosters are).
I understand what you are saying though. It's been my experience that the people asking for something of value for free, right now, generally have no idea what the big deal is in regards to their request/demand.
MLB11 is having a player vault feature that will literally reduce the roster making process down to a day or two, witbh multiple people working on the same file. Each team in MLB10 takes about an hour to do, even before simulation testing, minor league trades, etc.
At this point, I would have to ask why anyone would be dumb enough to make 2011 rosters for MLB10?GATEWAY TO GREATNESS: 2010 CARDINALS FRANCHISE

The one thing takin out of context was you thinking we "expect" or are "pissed" that there isn't one. All that was said was we were simply just "shocked" there wasn't one. So all this was just a bit blown out of proportion a bit. It's all good. People twist things I say all the time(i'm married.)Broncos,Cubs,Pistons,Red Wings, and Ohio StateComment

I interpreted "shocked" to mean something it may not have meant. Roster making is a defensive process because it's so damn laborsome, and often a thankless job.Last edited by TripleThreat1973; 01-31-2011, 09:04 PM.GATEWAY TO GREATNESS: 2010 CARDINALS FRANCHISE
