A system where being able to choose between buttons and TPC would have been nice.
Well I got the game like 4 days early and played it for a nice stretch online. What happened is at the beginning there was tons of stick users. Then slowly people started to find out about the exploit of buttons and the speed advantage. Then this is where the trouble started. Stick users then started moving to the buttons just to be able to compete. Now you have way guys using buttons just because it is the only way to somewhat compete with the spam.

No matter what people adapt. So even if they completely removed buttons. People would learn to adapt and play with the sticks.

You make some very good points. I hated TPC on the demo, but on the full retail version I absolutely loved it. I got so used to it that playing UFC the last few weeks has felt weird. Even worse is you notice how much control you lose on the ground game in UFC with their controls as opposed to what is offered with MMA. While UFC has the presentation and branding, MMA has the controls which is rather huge to me.

It looks like the fighter share had taken a nose dive last time I had checked on the PS3 where there wasn't as many guys created. I'm just surprised that EA didn't try to release some DLC on fighters that were recently let go from UFC or on the MMA circuit to add more to the roster.

One last question........has the judge's scoring been improved with the patch?

Yea looks like it has. I have not seen enough fights go to decision to know first hand though

        Patch Notes

        * Reduced the range and combo speed for body hook to hook combos
        * Increased the stamina loss from failed takedown attempts
        * Stronger punches in the dominate turtle position
        * Slightly enlarged the window for denying takedowns from the clinch.
        * Added Head Arm choke to Josh Thomson’s move set
        * Fixes to the 10 Point scoring system
        * Adjustments to the camera’s in the clinch so they do not sway as much during strikes
        * Updated Fighter Records for Gesias Cavalcante, Josh Thomson, Nick Diaz, Ronaldo Souza, Tim Kennedy and Tyron Woodley
        * Fixed issue where Gamertag/Online ID for the fighters were not displaying when viewing Fight Replays
        * Resolved issues that caused occasional softlocks during online matches

man i freaking love this game
i've had the most fun in my life ever, playing this game in all of its modes, but i do find online surprisingly challenging, considering im extremely good offline against the hardest cpu difficulty

how the heck is somebody able to 'button spam' ???

Thanks Phobia, that is a pretty decent list of fixes, yet there are some key things missing that would have been huge. Too bad EA doesn't throw out one more patch since we won't see an updated MMA game now till 2012.

I wish one thing which is minor to all this is that the replays looked a bit better and were a little longer.

Well there is no way to "go to the top at EA and ban these cheating fools". Reason being is that EA does not think there is anything wrong.

Ok now lets break down whats wrong. The most common hook spammers are the Fedor guys.

              1) Button spammers have a speed advantage between each punch because of lack of having to make a motion between punches with right stick.

              2) Hook spam is the most common because of the speed and power between each punch.

              3) The reason this is so deadly against Stick users is because the parry does not stun the hook spammer long enough for you to evade, weave, or punch in return. It is so quick that by the time you parry his shot the next hook will land before you can respond.

              4) Weaving against hook spammer is also pointless because they will land one shot in a short period of time and once that happens 3 or 4 are soon to follow and you will be hurt enough that fight will be tough to survive.

              5) Hook spammers will max out their takedown defense so you are stuck standing because it becomes VERY difficult to get them to the ground. They also max out their standing punch ratings so you are caught in their game.

              6) Teep kick spammers are also really deadly because side stepping will make you miss the first but you won't have enough time to do anything else before the following teep will land.

Yea I wish the replay system was the same as Fight Night Rd 4. Able to make your own angles and replays.

Hopefully MMA 2 will get the FN replay system.

Those spammers are something else, what fun is that to keep playing like this to someone?

                  Because they are "winning" .

I think I am the only person that liked Undisputed's ground system better than EA's. I like both systems, but I liked the variety UFC gave us. AT the same time EA killed it with a submission system. Heres to hoping competition brings about the best games possible.

I gave up playing online. I still have a decent "ranked" record but after facing multiple hook spammers my last couple fights I switched to "unranked"

My current "ranked record" is 34-8 and I held a Welterweight belt twice and currently still hold one. Total of 4 belts held in 3 weight classes.

So I am no push over at the game. It is just that I got tired of explain to EA the issues with the game and them saying "There is nothing wrong". So I basically shelved it.

                          i always play ranked

and i actually held the HW belt 3 times only to have stripped away immediately

i have found that hours of practice/offline play in career mode/fightnow, has helped my game immensely

i Career-CAF'd Junior dos Santos, and havent lost with him yet online

                            ha

guess i wouldnt mind a few extra features (cpu vs cpu, higher limit on downloadable&create-a-fighter, etc.)

I know THQ has the UFC license, but i wonder if that completely stops EA from including any fighter in the UFC??? it'd be nice if there were more heavyweights

thats mostly all i fight with

not to mention, you know how you use the fighter very well

this game is so freaking good, and i cant see anywhere for improvements
                                ha

guess i wouldnt mind a few extra features (cpu vs cpu, higher limit on downloadable&create-a-fighter, etc.)

I know THQ has the UFC license, but i wonder if that completely stops EA from including any fighter in the UFC??? it'd be nice if there were more heavyweights

thats mostly all i fight with
There are several former UFC heavyweights that have come and gone which are still fighting in various MMA promotions that could be included as DLC. Too bad they haven't done that or even throw out a few of the newer guys that have graced StrikeForce's door since the release of this game.

If EA could do something similar to what was done with UFC's career mode for MMA 2 than there is some longevity. I just hate that you fought 40 fights and pretty much that was it. The career should have gone until you reached a certain age or you retired your character.
