I've liked the Packers since I was four years old. I picked them because they had/have yellow helmets and that was my favorite color.NFL: Green Bay Packers
 MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates, Colorado Rockies
 NBA: Denver Nuggets
 NHL: Colorado Avalanche, Pittsburgh Penguins
NCAA: Air Force Falcons, Penn State Nittany LionsComment

Re: Why do you support your team?

I support my home town teams. Simply because they are where my home is. Outside of them though I like teams based on players (and in a few instances tradition). For instance the reason I liked the Chicago Bulls was because MJ was there. When he went to Washington I liked Washington.Comment

The Giants because I lived in the same county where they play since 1992

I missed out on 86 and 90 because I was born outside the country. Got into them in Simms and LT's last year and Strahan's first. When they won it all in XLII beating Boston and an undefeated team, there's nothing like when I can say I was a fan of the best National Football League teamComment

Im from Arlington, TX. Lived there for 19 years before I joined the military so I grew up a sports fan for all the teams in the DFW area. Im a big fan of the Cowboys since my dad had season tickets so I always went there when I was younger.Last edited by dickey1331; 02-07-2011, 12:21 AM.MLB: Texas Rangers

Re: Why do you support your team?

I probably have the funniest story. When NFL Blitz came out I was about 6 or 7, so still a little too young to really care about the actual NFL, but I cared about NFL Blitz, I thought it was the best game in the world, second only to Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time. And the cover athlete for NFL Blitz was Kordell Stewart, and I found out he played for the Steelers. So I would always play as the Steelers when I played the game and then when I started watching actual football near the end of the 2000 season, I was drawn to and rooted for the Steelers, and I suppose it helped a little that they were on TV relatively frequently in 2001 and they made the AFC Championship, which my 9 year old self cried over after the loss. And since then I've been a diehard Steelers fan.

I did grow up in the Dallas area however, but I was never going to be a Cowboys fan because my parents are Redskins fans because they both worked in the DC area for quite a few years in the 80's.NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers
 NBA: Dallas Mavericks
 MLB: Texas Rangers

 I must have lupus.

You're right, though. Eagles dominate the Philadelphia area. People seriously do bleed green around here. I wonder how it would be if the Eagles weren't as successful as they have been over the past decade, though. Didn't see much Phillies gear until the last 5 years. Still a good amount of diehards, but now everyone has some form of Phils stuff. It's kind of annoying being a loyal fan of sports teams through thick and thin to see the fair weather fans, but it's their own thing.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
 NFL - Buffalo Bills
 MLB - Cincinnati Reds

I don't think anything would change too much. Now if the Phillies weren't as successful as they have been, there would be a massive dropoff in "fans". Never have I seen to many bandwagon fans for a Philadelphia teamI must have lupus.

Re: Why do you support your team?

Heh, that's interesting. I'd been wondering how you got to be a Steelers fan considering you and all of your other pro teams are in Texas. Slash was a fun player to watch, but he was just to inconsistent to play QB as it seems most true dual threat QB's seem to be in the NFL.I probably have the funniest story.
