Re: Your Super Bowl halftime entertainment is...
Was I the only one hoping for a trouser malfunction to save them from that travesty of a performance?
I think Outkast should get the next superbowl halftime show!!.... though somehow I think hell would freeze over first, but you never know

I doubted you Roy Williams since you only won with a someone else's team... Now you have proven me wrong.
You have earned my respect.

Honestly I don't see how you could have grown up in the 90s and not know who STP is, considering the fact that songs like "Plush" and "Vasoline" were on the radio constantly. And again, the lowest any STP album has peaked is 6th, and Foo Fighters and STP have both only had one album that didn't go platinum. It is completely absurd to say that these bands aren't popular.I'm 19 and I know almost every band that gets radio play from the 70's-now, and honestly, I had to google STP to figure out what it stood for lol. Unless I'm mistaken, I don't really think the Foo Fighters are popular enough for a Super Bowl Halftime show. They have their fans like every other band, but I don't think they're "huge" like BEP. Pearl Jam has a very large fan base. Personally, I don't really want to see any of those three bands perform, but I also didn't want BEP at all.Comment

I would enjoy a Foo Fighters halftime show, personally.Honestly I don't see how you could have grown up in the 90s and not know who STP is, considering the fact that songs like "Plush" and "Vasoline" were on the radio constantly. The Killers. Fast-paced enough not to put anyone to sleep, deep lyrics, great live act, and theatrical. They'd be the best halftime show in a long time.
Spaceman -> Mr. Brightside -> New Song from their album this year -> When You Were Young.
BOOM!Blind to this impending fate
We let the world carry our weight
It's back breaks with every mile
But we all live in denialComment

Speaking with first-hand experience of their live performances, the NFL probably shouldn't pick Muse because they'd steal the show.
And make everyone in the stadium go deaf.

Please tone down the "completely absurd" comments. This thread will get locked quickly if it starts going down that road.Honestly I don't see how you could have grown up in the 90s and not know who STP is, considering the fact that songs like "Plush" and "Vasoline" were on the radio constantly. And again, the lowest any STP album has peaked is 6th, and Foo Fighters and STP have both only had one album that didn't go platinum. It is completely absurd to say that these bands aren't popular.
Bottom line is many have different tastes in music and what may have been on the radio constantly for you, may be a song that someone else has never heard once bc they don't listen to the same type of stations you do. Same can be said for albums going platinum.
BEPs, Prince, Janet Jackson, U2, etc. are good picks more because of crossover appeal than pure talent or popularity anyway. Speaking of radio appeal, BEP songs are played on most stations, no matter what the base demographic is, and their songs are also heard regularly on tv shows, in movies, commercials, etc. It's not about putting on some great concert so much as entertaining the many different kind of folk that are watching the game.
With all that said, I agree with PPM and think they should just do away with it all together. How about do an extended highlight real of the first half or the seasons of the 2 teams in the game, playing a popular song or a mash of popular songs? You can even throw it on the jumbo tron so the people at the game can enjoy it too. The spectacle is unnecessary (and this is coming from someone that actually enjoyed this halftime show more than most recently).Comment
