Re: Madden's Current Gen Has Not Been a Success
I'm all for competition, but the above solution doesn't work for everyone. My only option would be to purchase a $400 machine to play The Show. Wife and three teenagers says that is impossible.Comment

Re: Madden's Current Gen Has Not Been a Success
I have followed these great forums for a long time and agree with the general disappointment with Madden. It just seems to me there is a disconnect between what those of us on this site believe vs. What is going on in the other "world". The developers do not see what we see or are not instructed to create a game that shares our vision. We think the game is disappointing yet it gets good ratings and the developers feel their game is improving. Perhaps the general gaming public is also satisfied with the product they are getting. I do not think we will ever see real changes that satisfy us when we are looking at the same fruit but one person says it's an orange and the others sees an apple (meaning us vs. Developers/other gamers)Comment

v been playing Madden since 1996, I feel I have a love hate relationship with the game now. Im completely blown away at how far it has come and how great it has become, but I'm frustrated with little things with the game that are lacking which could make playing virtual football the ultimate experience. First of all, I love the physics idea, even if this is the only update the producers make this year, this update would Madden unparalleled. If this cant be done, at least add thousands of animations. Seeing the same animations over and over and over and over... makes the games less exciting, predictable and overall just not fun. Next, the whole sack thing drives me insane, its so hard just to get to the quarterback in the first place, and when you finally get there he, just throws it away, even when my player comes from his back. Additionally, defensive stats in franchise mode drive me nuts, obviously the sack stat for reasons already stated. Total tackles needs to be fixed as well. I pride my team on defense, at the end of the year my best player has 46 total tackles, opposed to some players having over 100. Next, ANNOUNCING, please fix this, its just plain boring, I just turn it off for the most part because its that bad. If there is anything that can be done to jazz up the games feel as far as intensity. I love how to can feel the momentum in the game, but I think some things can be done to take it to the next level.Comment

The option is still there tho. Better to have to choose whether or not you want to spend the money on another system than to have no other game available at all.Comment

Not a very suitable option.
Difficult to comment on if you are not in that situation.Comment

Re: Madden's Current Gen Has Not Been a Success
I totally agree with the earlier post by pietasterp (can't believe I just typed that lol). Madden has become "diluted" and "over-homogenized). There has to be SOME REASON why madden people look at NBA 2k and The Show and STILL do not model their games after them. Maybe it's the competing forces of developers vs marketing vs the NFL who knows. All I know is after a year of development all we got was gameflow, strat pad, and a new announcer. What the heck was going on in those offices for an entire year??Comment

Re: Madden's Current Gen Has Not Been a Success
If you hit the lottery tomorrow, a couple hundred dollars wouldn't mean anything and you'd be enjoying The Show. If you wanted to play a current football game other than Madden, too bad.
Win the lottery, find a cure for cancer, strike oil in your backyard, and you're still not playing a current football game not named Madden whenever.Comment

Okay, then it's not an option for YOU; however, it is an option, and a reasonable one, for someone who currently doesn't own a PS3 or a 360, and they are in the process of deciding which one to purchase.

Now many people can say that Madden has taken a EA Sports "NASCAR" Type turn, where the developers just got burned out releasing a game every year and only updating the rosters and race tracks.
Same thing here. The developers are releasing things to quickly. Take a year off, release a roster update every year and every two years a full game. What is so hard about that? It would save them money all while making the game more efficient. I see no problem with 'FREE' D.C.
While im not a Madden guy, I think that the company can do well with the game. Lets just hope competition comes back soon in the form of a former big football king.F1 - Team Red Bull
NFL - Baltimore Ravens
NASCAR - Hendrick Motorsports

The NFL liscense demands a yearly release.Last edited by roadman; 02-12-2011, 05:30 PM.Comment

Probably the best thing, would be if they weren't so hell bent on removing features from the game. If the feature is already in, keep it. If the feature is popular, expand it. If the feature is unpopular, add an option to turn it on/off in the options menu and default the feature to off.
Just look at these features that were all on next gen consoles. QB Vision, Lead Blocker Control, Play Maker Control (covers several features), and Player Weapons. Then look at older features. Play Creator, Custom Play Books, Bluff/Hide/Show Blitz, Man/Zone Align, Man Shading, Individual Coverage Adjustments, etc.
I didn't buy Madden 11, because Madden 10 seemed watered down to me and Madden 11 didn't offer anything different. I did play one of the my friends in a game of Madden 11 and to me it felt like a slightly polished version of Madden 10. Nothing was added that really changed how you play the game or what you could do within the game, unless you want to use Ask Madden 2.0 (aka Game Flow).Last edited by lordnate; 02-12-2011, 05:39 PM.Comment

Re: Madden's Current Gen Has Not Been a Success
good article. and that's why i haven't bought madden in over 3 years. My score for Madden 13: 4.5/10
3 points for graphics, 1 point for the passable commentary, and a half point for the boxart. I can give no further points since the all over the place gameplay would ruin it anyway.Comment
