This situation is too lame to be a Tarantino movie. It would be more like one of those ****ty Twilight movies.

Carmelo wants to be a vampire (Knicks), but the werewolves (Lakers) are making a play for his services.

The Lakers made a play for Melo, or did Denver inquire and use that as leverage?

        A Twilight reference on OS...that's a first

I think the chances of Carmelo going to the Lakers are less than the chances I have of hitting the Powerball on Saturday. If they won't trade Bynum, what could they possibly give up?

Even if LA wants Carmelo it makes no sense to trade away Bynum to get him. When LA can just wait til the offseason and compete with NY to sign Melo as a FA.

              Competely forgot about that. LOL

And I'm guessing with the new CBA that may be even lower.

Yup, which is why this latest talk of NY getting Melo then somehow having the room to grab CP3 or Howard after is bogus.

I don't get it... Are you trying to call Gallo a bum? If so, I totally disagree with you! If Melo was to come to NY without Gallo getting traded, of course Melo would take his spot at forward, but to say he would become a bench player and not produce or get any burn, "YOU ARE CRAZY". Gallo and Chandler have proven themselves to be good players and have good trade value, which is why I think NY is having a hard time deciding on who to let go, or both packaged with other players on the team.

If it were up to me, I would let them both go along with Curry, Randolph, and Walker for Melo along with some decent players and just look towards the summer.

                    Melo should just sit tight.

If he caves in and signs an extenion, he's a shortsighted fool.

The new CBA isnt going to hurt guys like him

Plus isn't there a chance that current salaries are going to be rolled back anyway? So if he signs his 3yr/$65M extension it's going to be less than that anyway once the CBA comes out.

That's what I'm saying though, there's almost no way they're going to be able to touch contracts that were in place before the new CBA. Joe Johnson just signed his deal so this isn't going to bother a "B-List All Star" like him because NBA owners are morons and he'll get the same max level contract possible under the new CBA that guys like Carmelo are gonna get under it because they're giving him max level deals like those guys already. Nobody forced them to make JJ a max contract guy, but lookie lookie.

I was hoping the Bulls was going to sign Joe Johnson. BUT not for that price. My thought was, if we didn't get LeBron that we would sign Joe Johnson and Chris Bosh OR Carlos Boozer. I figured if one of those scenarios went down, we would make a serious run at the title.

BUT back to the topic at hand, in Melo's best interest he might as well just wait until the end of the season.

Never said Gallo is a bum, he's actually a decent player, but he fits no where in the line up with Carmelo, Chandler and STAT's, I'd rather have Landry Fields he's a perfect for the role he'd play with those 3. I just see Gallo getting lost if he was coming off the bench.
