I'm not tired of Madden, I'm tired of only 1 damn choice.
EXACTLY. If there were two or three football games I'd buy them all. Madden is too sterile this gen, I thought other games were too sterile last gen...but theres' room in my ps3 for any good sports game

Time to face facts people, this is profitable for both the NFL and EA.
You are probably 100% correct with your statement.

EA SPORTS: You better hope it's in the game, cause you ain't got another choice!

For those who are wanting some in-depth analysis of what this means, and I'd say those of you who are saying 'it's just one more year to wait' probably should take a look, here's the blog I just posted (it's on the OS frontpage too):

Well at least NCAA is steadily improving.
So it isnt NFL, but theres another football game to choose from.

Did you even read my whole post? No not over a video game. Over the fact that the NFL has shown over and over in every aspect of it's buisness that all it cares about is money and not the best interests of it's customers, the fans. The collective bargaining negotiations and the eventual lockout are proof of that.

Then why do people not get on 2K for taking the 3rd party license for baseball games.

There are many fans of baseball who do not have a PS3 or do not like the ps3 and have to settle for 2K baseball and nobody can argue that 2K baseball is better then Madden football.

2K is always looked upon as the poor baby of the sports gaming industry but their baseball game has taken the license from 3rd parties and have done very little to make a great baseball game. They should be persecuted just like EA for what they are doing.

At least Madden is above average in terms of game quality and sales that it produces. 2K baseball barely sells at all and they do not improve the game like they should.

But barely a peep about it. Just because SCEA makes a game does not mean that all is forgiven for 2K because many cannot afford a ps3 or do not want to buy a console just to play one game

Should Madden be a better game? Yes but I can say the same for all games

Their $60 price tag should not be held against them because all next gen games are $60 and many of them suck

If Madden was so terrible and did not do much to improve the game then it would not sell. But it does even with the drop of 10%

The NFL is not going to say. EA we can't give you the license because you did not sell as much as the previous year. As long as EA continues to pay them that type of money, then is all good with the NFL

And for EA to pay that kind of money to the NFL it tells you one thing, that they are not near given up the license.

2K and other companies would not ever top the price tag offered by EA because 1. They can't afford it 2. They know that they won't outsell it

                  That is fact

Does anyone here know ANYONE in the NFL offices?

Anyone that could pass along a note to Howdy Dood--I mean Roger Goodell?

                    A janitor, a cook, a secretary, any other position....anyone!?!?!?!

"Yes, Mr. Goodell, the people of Operation Sports would like you go forgo this very lucrative licensing agreement with EA that's basically free money for the NFL, and instead let other companies make games as well, because we just think it's a nice thing to do."

If the NFL thought they could make more by having an open license, they'd have an open license. But at the end of the day they're a business, and like most businesses they'll do what's best for them and 99% of the time what's best for them is what makes them the most money.

                          This shouldnt even be legal.

EA is completely screwing NFL videogame fans over.

AND BEFORE ANYONE SAYS ITS A GOOD BUSINESS DECISION...I know it is. Sadly, I know its in EAs best interests to do this, mainly because they arent capable of making a truly great NFL sim, so they just prevent any other company from outdoing them so they can annually churn out the same mediocrity.

Oh well. Thankfully, there are a lot of reallly good non football games coming out over the next 2 years or so, and on top of college and life in general, I guess its not a huge deal. Just sad to think we may not get a really good NFL game for a long, long time.
