Has anyone else experienced this (RTTS)?

Okay, so I am in my fourth year of my RTTS career.

My guy is a 6'2" 215 pound left-handed hitting third baseman. In his first year (42 games) he hit .321 with 10 HR and 22 RBI.

In his second year, he hit .327 with 45 HR and 137 RBI.

In his third year, he hit .348 with 44 HR and 127 RBI.

In his fourth year, he slumped, albeit not much, by hitting .300 with 37 HR and 124 RBI.

He has 97/95 for contact, 94/96 for power and 88 for speed. Basically, he has A's in all his ratings.

In his fifth year, I've completed the first month and a half and he's struggling mightily, hitting .262 with 1 HR and 12 RBI. It literally seems like 80 percent of my hits are on the ground and I am striking out a lot more.

It just feels like he sucks all of the sudden, but ratings wise he's gotten better!

I am wondering if the game has just "figured" him out in the sense that I am not very patient and don't take many walks. I swing at a lot of bad pitches so it just seems like they are pitching me better, but even on the vast majority of balls I am connecting with, I am having trouble making solid contact.

Maybe it's just a slump... I might need a change of scenery because I am getting tired of playing for my hometown Mariners, who traded Felix Hernandez for basically nothing and we're currently 8-25 on the season.

Nonetheless, it's pretty frustrating. This is my time killer and I'll admit I bought points to get him beefed up fast, so I am just curious as to why I am all of the sudden struggling so much. He hit .300 last year, but it was a struggle to get there.

Sorry for rambling on, but does anyone have any tips for me?

The game really overdoes slumps and hot streaks. With slumps, nothing you do really matters (you just gotta get lucky) and with hot streaks, you just gotta swing somewhat decent to hit a liner. The best advice I could give is just try having a few decent games in a row to break out from being cold as ice by replaying the games if you get no hits (turn off autosave obviously). Or you can sim for a bit to break him out as well.

I've noticed that this game does pick up on your tendencies. If you swing at stuff you have no chance at hitting, it's going to throw it. The key is to recognize what you're doing wrong and stop doing it. Make them bring the pitch in the strike zone. It's just like real life. Pitchers adjust to your batting tendencies, and you need to adjust to their adjustments. I hope that helps.

Patience is the key. You can't swing at every thing that is thrown up there otherwise you will find yourself in a slump more often. I average like 98 walks per year and less than 30 strikeouts simply because I am very patient and wait for a good pitch to hit.

Yeah, that's true. I broke out of my slump... In the past 22 games, I have walked 19 times while hitting .344.

I was just way too impatient.

          Thanks for the advice guys!
