IMO, it's much more satisfying to have success while using realistic tactics (ex. no parry spam, etc)Comment

Re: EA Sports MMA Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
I'd love to platinum this game on the PS3. I am about 78% on completion of the trophies, mainly a lot of online ones I am working towards. The 2xp weekend has helped a lot and I bet the next one won't come till April. This damn game is a grind fest online. I'm 28-47 online, so not too bad.Comment

Yeah, it's been happening a lot. I think the servers are getting overloaded due to the price drop and the 2XP weekend. I'm glad a lot of guys are not using the overpowered dudes as bad this weekend.sweet!!!

Re: EA Sports MMA Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
I actually played a bunch of UFC 2010 this weekend and had a blast. The battle at least have way less cheese compared to the button hook spammer crap. For those that know my take on UFC 2010, you know it has to be bad for me to go back to it. For those that don't know, I scored UFC 2010 as my worst game of last year. I have some where around 140 games so to take that crown is a quite a feat.
BUT even as horrible as I thought UFC 2010 was. They did improve on many of the areas I felt were HORRIBLE with the last patch. So the fights feel little more "organic" and less of the 3 transitions = pass.
Plus the striking system while is not perfect, you can really dominate someone who gets crazy throwing the hands to much. I had some really impressive knockouts this weekend on pretty skilled guys.
Like I said, I hated UFC 2010 and only put up around 50 fights online. Where in 09 I had over 500 online fights. I fought guys in the 700 to 1000 fights range this weekend and stood a great chance against most of them. Even beat quite a few, pulling out a 50% win percentage. Considering how little I have played the game and how rusty I was at the controls I think speaks great about how balanced it is after the patch.
EA MMA I was hailing as the king of video game MMA. But sadly that award was ruined by buttons. Online was ruining by buttons and EA's lack of tuning the controls schemes to match 1:1.
So long story short, I am going back to UFC 2010

I didn't even know there was a patch. If I get desperate I could always pick it up used - I got rid of ea mma because I just didn't like it at all, the stand up I thought was horrid.I actually played a bunch of UFC 2010 this weekend and had a blast. 09 was the best, but I played the crap out of it, and it's hard to go back to an old game even if it's successor was worse because even still it did have more moves and complexity and more organic mauy thai clinch.
Fight night champion I'm hoping will be my combat sports title for many months, nba2k11 is the overall sports king imo uh-mazing.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Wow, I have to admit I'm shocked reading this, Phobia. You were one of EA's biggest supporters when the game dropped. But, I get why you guys that play online are upset, and I know that offline, neither UFC or EA offer much depth.I actually played a bunch of UFC 2010 this weekend and had a blast. I still think that UFC 2010 offers a better career mode than EA MMA just because you can move to another weight class, there are champ vs. champ fights, the presentation, varying weeks (8-12) before fights, and retirement to HOF are nice touches.Comment

Re: EA Sports MMA Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
I was more referring to the lack of a challenge when facing the CPU. But hey, I never played 10, so perhaps the CPU did put up a good fight. I felt like 09, once you mastered the controls, it was too easy to beat the CPU and in the EA Demo, I never got the feeling that the CPU was going to put up enough of a fight to make the game challenging over the long haul.Currently Playing:

Re: EA Sports MMA Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
EA MMA is the best fighting game IMO ever brought to the market .Period.
no blind love here, i had ufc09 & 10 way before eamma, an still like THQ's game, just wish it were up to the same speed as EA MMA's Fight Engine
Eventually, I hope, EA gets the UFC license though, seriously..GO HEAT

Re: EA Sports MMA Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
I thought this as well but was surprised it was the opposite. Playing the retail version the AI is much smarter. Ratings really matter so as long as the AI fighter has decent stats, its usually a good fight. Its actually really difficult to go through career mode undefeated.I was more referring to the lack of a challenge when facing the CPU. And as for EA getting the licence, you have as much chance of that happening as you do a cross promotion of UFC/Strikeforce. You can dream, but everytime you post something about it people are going to comment how its not going to happen.Comment

Re: EA Sports MMA Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here
I dont think THQ has near the depth in their pockets that Electronic Arts does. It could happen.
I'd much rather see positive changes in Undisputed though. I really like the game, dont mistake that.
And, I am truly excited to see what both devs (ea & thq) do next with the games.
Additionally, I am looking forward to checking out Supremacy MMA too.GO HEAT
