Worth getting for an basketball fan but not necessarily a NBA Fan?

Like the topic title says I'm not a huge NBA fan but I see that it's $30 this week.

Does it play a strong enough game of basketball to recommend?

Or any other thoughts are welcome!

Excuse the game review cliche but it's a must-own for any basketball fan, being that it's the best basketball game ever made and everything.

It is definitely worth it for basketball fans. You can download different kinds of rosters, like from the 70s and 80s and from the Euroleague.

You need to get the game. It's addicting and if you watch basketball this is a must have.

Also as I'm playing should I use Real Player % or Shot Stick?

I'm having a really hard time getting shot stick shots to fall, is that just cause I need more practice at the game?

shot stick for if you want to have more control of your person's shooting percentage

i personally use real player % since im a shot button user

A lot of threads like this are popping up, what happened to the official impressions thread?, not to come off like an ahole, I was looking for the other day for some info.

I think I like using the RP%, if I ue that I can still use the Isomotion controls right? or can I use the shot stick so he launches a fadeaway for example

doesnt matter if you use RP% or shot stick....the isomotion controls are all done with a different joystick(the left one)

                            Hey Max.

I was actually in the exact same position you're in right now last week. I had heard so damn much about how great, amazing, etc. the game was, and when I saw the lowered price, I figured I might as well pick it up, even though I'm not the biggest basketball/NBA fan.

But like someone earlier posted, it's a must have for any sports game fan.

The only con I'm experiencing is my lack of basketball game skills, knowledge, etc. I can play a game of NHL 11 and just completely immerse myself in everything about it while having an amazingly fun time playing, but with NBA 2K11, I'm just not wired that way... LOL.

This might sound odd, but I almost feel bad for not being a bigger fan, etc. since the game is so highly rated, reviewed, and recommended. There are things in it, little nuances, etc., that I'm probably completely overlooking or not even picking up on because of my NBA/basketball ignorance.

I supposed you could put it this way, take your favourite sport and if it was made in the mould of NBA 2K11, it would be the greatest game you've ever played.

                            Just my two-cents ...

By the way, if anyone has any advice regarding my transition from football and hockey games over to basketball, it would be greatly appreciated.

                            Thanks guys.

I second that exact question. I have ordered this game on the basis that it is the best sport game availible but i don't know basketball or the NBA. I mainly watch hockey and football. Where should I start? Any good site with rules ans tactics?
