i am a 30 yr old new yorker born,bred, and still here .. i started watching and playing ball at 6 (its the mecca, you start early lol) and i was a knick fan but always knew they had no chance during MJ's reign of pure terror, i rooted for them until '94, when i would have gladly killed john starks on a bet, by that point they were like the cubs destined to disappoint, but when they got spree i rooted once again, and when they got stoudamire this year it felt good to be a knick fan again.. did you expect us to be fans of david lee or chris "i have no game" duhon? with all that said, yes there will be a pile of bandwagon hopping fakes, most of us are just knick fans happy to cheer for them again

I couldn't say it any better man. I'ma thorough NYer my-self. Born into NY sports fan thing. Knicks, Mets, Yankees, Rangers, Islanders, Giants, Jets, it's in my blood to be a fan. I'm no Spike Lee knicks fan but I worn the Knicks on my sleeve since the days of Childs, Ward, Spreewell, & Houston. I love the knicks, I've always supported them and will forever continue. But I'm a celtics fan at heart lol

The only way you can prove you're a fan for life is if you get a tattoo of the Knicks logo.

U always ride for your team win or lose. The whole i root for them when they win is fake stuff. My buddies who are Knicks fans stick with their team regardless.

Yeah, we will probably hear that a lot from the sudden rise of New York Knickerbocker's users. I for one am a die-hard Miami Heat fan, but I will admittedly be a bit of a band-wagoner and start an association with the Knicks now as it should be pretty fun. I don't play online at all though, so it's not like it's a big deal in my case, but I do ever so hate the band-wagoner's who all of a sudden use the "sexy team" every game. Bugs me even though I don't play online, lol.

I dont get this bandwagon stuff .. you're either a hardcore fan or a casual fan. If you're a casual fan - you can bandwagon all you want. So what? You like the Knicks now because they have Melo - Knicks ticket prices shot thru the roof cause they got Melo - that's good. If everybody was a hardcore fan like you guys that complain about it .. prices would've seen only a small increase. Bandwagon fans make the sport interesting - folks in ancient rome - they always cheered for the good or bad gladiator - that middleman stuff is boring/normal - people already have too much normal in their lives - let them live. That said .. Hey Come on! I've been playing with the Knicks since 2k - when they had Ewing in their. He was the first person they really did a good you with on the motion capture. - With Van Gundy on the sidelines .. Latrell and Allan Houston and LJ - battling those Spurs.

Agreed. Bandwagon fans are fine, who really cares if you follow a few select players, doesn't matter too much. Only problem I have is people who abuse them online and are not a fan of the team and are just using the team to win, which kinda takes the fun out of the game. In the end, it doesn't really matter to me as I don't play online.

no sir, i been a knicks fan since starks and ewing. and forced myself to sit through the marbury years and sat through the mcdysse (sp) years when he was supposed to be the biggest thing in ny and couldnt stay healthy.

I've been a Knick fan BEFORE they drafted Ewing, my pops been one before color TV. Been playing with the Knicks since the first video game had the Knicks in it. Got online last night, the trade didn't even happen yet, and first game out the box guy runs for the Knicks. Meanwhile in the HUNDREDS of games I've played online NOT ONCE has anyone picked the Knicks.

Been using the Knicks since the Sweetney days, the Keith Van Horn and Tim Thomas "fugazy" days in this game. It's been a rough road but , until 2K9 started with the EXTREME B.S. I was able to take these teams online, piss people off and win with them. Now I gotta go through a hundred kids who want to use the Knicks all day and couldn't find MSG if I gave them a map. "Sudden Knick Fans" that don't know ish about the squad. You got dudes online who probably go into New York asking directions for "how do I get to New York Arena, you know where the Knicks play?"

I'm not a Knicks fan, but as a Spurs fan I've got a lot of respect for them. And I love New York City itself though I've only been there twice. Touring Madison Square Garden was probably my favorite part, fascinating. The idea of the two big stars in New York is a huge deal to some people. Bandwagon Knick fans won't bother me as much as the Heat fans do.

I can't take these 'fugazy' Knick fans, especially on Facebook. Some of these fools actually think the Knicks are winning a championship this year. Shows you how much they know about basketball. They'll be all over MSG tonight with their stupid "Go New York, Go New York GO!" chants.
